i just finished reading the TPB and really enjoyed it, but it ended kinda on a cliffhanger with gwen be introduced? is there anymore after that? or will there be more?

I don't read it, but I know they're still publishing issues. I think it's on #7 or 8 now.

8 as of next week...and they will be picking up where 5 left off.

Whoa, you scared me... for a second I thought you might have heard a negative rumor.

As far as I know this title is ongoing and gaining a fan base. I know I REALLY like it and look forward to it every month. It has substance... a special somthing. :)

The writer, Sean Mckeever has a webpage and forum... let him know what you think! http://seanmckeever.com/discussion.cfm

actually, on that website, the writer actually addressed that topic ( about the series staying alive ) and mentionned he was writing scripts into the second year and had not been told to stop. There's a topic in there somewhere saying that.
hey Cap, did you get to read #7? my comic book store never recieved my copy :(

Well that's just WRONG. :(

Yes, I believe I did... I'll check this p.m. and get back here with some spoilers, if you'd like. :)

does anyone know when the next TPB of it is due out then? id prefer not to go tracking each seperate comic considering how hard of a time i had finding the TPB in the first place

Are you serious? Your shop didn't get any of #7? That would mean they didn't order any, right? That must not be tolerated... you did complain, right?

Anywho...

The issue starts out with Liz and MJ talking again. Liz tells her to get to the point of her story... how it relates to Peter... because all she has heard so far is how MJ started liking Spider-Man. Mary Jane tells Liz that the Spidey stuff and the Peter stuff are related... kinda.

They then switch to flashback mode -- One year ago...

Mary Jane is in the library, cutting photos of Spider-Man out of the newspaper. The librarian is not pleased... and is even less so when MJ smarts off to her, which lands MJ in the principles office.

He notices her new "look" and wisely realizes that something is going on with her. Of course part of the charm of this book is the dialog, which makes the scene... and forgive me, but I can't copy all that down...

Her friends, Liz, Flash and Harry gather at the Coffee Bean, plotting... MJ comes in and they wisk her off to the subway, where they take a train downtown. Seems Flash heard a news report that Spider-Man and the Goblin where having a real knock-down drag out there. MJ is confused about what they are doing there... that is until Spidey swoops down right over there heads, being pulled by a web line... attached to a glider.

They watch the fight overhead. The Goblin throws a pumpkin bomb at a building JUST to try and cause civilian casulties... or, to get Spidey off his tail as he frantically trys to web up the falling debris, so it doesn't hurt anyone.

MJ is rivited... "So cool..." She's looking up at Spidey and he looks down... their "eyes" meet for a moment... then he swings off.

The group takes a train back. MJ thanks them for trying to cheer her up, but declines their offer to join them at the Bean. They leave and she continues on the train, headed home, alone. She's smiling...

But not for long... Ned and his new honey walk into her car, and they are draped all over each other. He makes a comment about MJ's "look" and the honey suggests they find an empty car... As they leave, MJ tears up and crys... staring out the window, she seems very alone.

Next day at school we see Peter, with his head hung low, walking through the halls... He meets Harry and Flash coming in the opposite direction. Flash says "Hey, Parker, where's the funeral!?" Awww, whatsamatter... Are you going to cry?" Peter walks past them.

Flash says to Harry "Look at him. I think he's really gonna go cry.

Harry gets angry, "Geez, Flash, could you be any more insensitive? You didn't hear what happened last week did you?"

Flash is still in bully mode, "What, did he break a beaker?"

We see Peter continuing on... as around the corner MJ and her goth friend, Jessica are talking."

I must pause here, but will continue after I get to my office... Stay tuned. :)

yeah, not sure what's up with them not getting my copy, I just moved here, so I'd bet there was a hiccup with the ordering. I can always find the TPB later, but much thanks for the spoilers. If you ever need spoilers on anything Spidey, let me know :)

I've been hearing about this comic but never bothered to buy it. Is anyone here interested in giving their personal opinion or review of this comic to an intrigued fanboy?

It's fun, it's light, it's a very good read. I'd recommend trying it. Really, nuttin' beats the experience.

Do yourselves a favor and read this title!

Last night, after reading USM, ASM, Frontline and that Stan Lee one shot, I picked up this delicious little book and LOVED it! Seriously! Even with all the hoopla over clones and the Civil War, this may have been my favorite read of the night.

What a nice surprize. It has a great, fun (but meaningful) little story with MJ, Peter/Spidey, Liz, Harry, Flash, and recently Gwen... it made me laugh, it made me gasp and I can't WAIT till next issue. And that's what it's all about.

so Cap, what do you think of Wednesday's issue?
I think she's going to wuss out. Though she accidentally told Peter about her feelings for him unknowingly thru Spidey...From the future solicits it looks like he's with Gwen in 12, boy, you'd think MJ could catch a break from Gwen and Peter in her own title! I'm sure she'll eventually win due to the fact it's her title, but it seems like it's getting dragged out.

This one seems interesting... I might pick up the first TPB and see how I like it.

so whos the "hot" one in this book? like iv said iv only read the first TPB, so gwen wasnt introduced till like the last page. is MJ still the bomb shell and Gwen the good looking girl next door type? or have they switched that around or what?

I loved it!

I've read that scene with MJ and Spidey on the roof several times...
and I decided that he "tensed up" because his spider-sense warned him of the Looter, not because of what MJ said. But then, he says softly "did you just say..." (or something like that) because Gwen kissing him in the arcade probably made an impression... but he doesn't know for sure who MJ was talking about. Poor Peter, he assumes she's still hung up on Harry.

But, I can't believe that he isn't at least CURIOUS, after her statement. He started to say (as Spidey) we need to talk, but then said nevermind. Did he think "now is not the time..." OR "she couldn't have been taking about me..."

So I wonder what is going to happen to keep MJ from telling him. With the preview for #12 mentioning she has "secret" feelings for Peter, I assume something happens. May-be Gwen will walk up to keep a study date or something.

I do wonder how long they are going to keep us on pins and needles and what is going to become of Gwen here.

Did you catch the reference about "the bridge" that Liz made to MJ? Funny.

There IS something special about it that pulls you in.

Actually the story STARTS in the two TPBs that came out when the title was called Mary Jane. When I started liking SMLMJ, I went back and got those too. Glad I did.

sm loves mj is amazing and strengthens my ideals of not buying 616 spidey i mean this and ult spidey ooooh and spidergirl are all top quality who needs 616!?

I still think that he figured it out..the look of shock on his face when she showed up at his house later attests to that. The talking I would assume is him coming clean with the dual ID. In Issue 5, he said "Maybe it is too soon", he clearly meant telling her. I totally caught the bridge reference, and smiled when I saw it. ( and at the Capt America remark ) I've got a bad feeling she's going to tell him she's happy for him and Gwen, cause we both know that Peter loves MJ, if they are apart, it'll be MJ's fault. Even though it is getting a bit dragged out, I am enjoying Spidey's appearances more than Peter's, b/c as Spidey he can be honest with his feelings without scaring her off.
Btw..are you "Captivated Edge" the new poster on McKeever's board?

Yes! I go over there now and then.

What do you think of the artist leaving? My niece hated the "flashback" artist, so I hope it's not them. With my niece I FINALLY got someone else in my family interested in Spider-Man comics, and it was through this title. I hope they get someone good.

I never have been a fan of the Manga style art, I would like to see something more Bagley style, but certainly not the guest artist. I didn't like his art.
