Sequels Should Gwen Stacy Replace Mary Jane in 'Spider-Man 4?'

Yeah okay ... "Thank God your okay Gwen... hey Spidey... smile for the camera"... really shows his feelings there for her... they got Brock's character completely wrong. He was a whiny little brat... it suited Topher's acting style... but Brock shouldn't be like that openly... he should at least be tough on the outside and he wasn't even that. That said... I liked Topher's Venom. Too bad we got like 5 minutes worth...

No they didn't, they just didn't use a carbon copy of the 616 Brock.

I just want gwen to have a much bigger role in this next film. And maybe not focus to much on the whole love thing between pete and mj.
That could work, but would they be willing to do it? Someone pass this on to the screenwriter James Vanderbilt, my sources are telling me that he's on page 41.

Because hes a mind warped, egocentric jackass, simple as that. Obviously to him photography comes before fake love thats all. Don't over think it :hyper:

Look they could have done more with it to make it more believable you know... they just didn't have the screen time. Whatever... Eddie ain't coming back... I'll live with it... its time for Gwen to step up though.

Yeah. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Eddie kidnapping staff from the Daily Bugle. Spider-Man having to save Jameson from a real tool of a photographer he hired who went bad. Would've just been good irony.

And, yeah, you could assume that Mary Jane may have come up at some point, but there's no facts to support that. When you're making a film, you can't just assume that everyone who watches the movie is going to assume something about a moment in your film. There's certain things that you can leave to the imagination of the viewer, yes, but in my opinion this was just too silly of a mistake. They could've put in a scene where Eddie meets Mary Jane, or cut Mary Jane out as the victim completely and made the ending better.

To be clear while I was also not crazy about MJ being a kidnapped victim for the third time, the obvious reason why Eddie would know about MJ and for that matter about Flynt Marco, is because of the symbiote. It knows Peter's thoughts so it would transfer them to Eddie. As for other possible kidnapped victims, such as the bugle staff...they would not have the same emotional impact as MJ or Gwen. Only Aunt May would be comparable.

I would like to see Gwen start out as Peter's love interest when the series relaunches. In that case, you have to mix things up anyway. But have Gwen start out as Peter's girlfriend but by the second picture she dies at the hands of the Goblin. Then, that same film should introduce Mary Jane.
I must admit that Gwen may have been Peter's first love, but I've always seen MJ as Peter's main love. I've been a Spidey fan since I was a kid but I never really read the comics untill the late 80's. But most people do see MJ as Peter's girlfriend.

I'm all for Gwen being the love interest in the subsequent of the film. But there's no need to kill her off, since there is no Goblin to kill her anyway. And the relationship with MJ particularly in the film has not been a very good one anyway. Peter says in the first film that he loved since she was a child, and that is just the problem, the relationship is childish based on fantasies and ideas of who Peter and MJ are, and not the reality of who they are. Spidey 3 showed that the reality of who Peter and MJ were doesn't work. It's time that Peter moved on to a more adult relationship, which he was developing with Gwen in Spiderman 3.

Yes, he wants to have his cake and eat it to. So?

In response to the question posted on the first page, no, Gwen should not replace Mary-Jane in 'Spider-Man 4'. Quite frankly, I'm not that interested in seeing Gwen again, she was just such a non-entity in #3 that I really don't have any interest or curiosity in what becomes of her.

I'd be much more interesting in seeing Black Cat/Felicia Hardy in Spider-Man 4.

Venom going after the Daily Bugle staff in the climax might have been interesting though.

I think she should just fade out because then they could use her in Venom spinoff. she is not really important as Peter said she,s just my lab partner where if she was with Eddie and died it hurt him and give you a reason to care about her death rather than say was only in 10 scenes

Peter: oh to bad she really liked me but ive still got the love of my life

Eddie: no no my last link to humanity gone no no i love you you cant do this to me

Shes more important to Eddie than Pete

which is funny because they had more of an adult relationship in the comics. But I agree, they don't really work together in the movies. Does that mean that he should just move on to Gwen. I don't know, probably not. But I don't think that MJ and Peter should really be "together" in the fourth movie. Have them be friends again, but really living seperate lives.

and as for the whole Venom kidnapping people thing. I was thinking the other day, why didn't him and Sandman just attack Peter? MJ could have gotten caught up in the battle and so she still would have been there. Then Spider man could have been taken somewhere like the construction site to be killed and MJ still could have been the one to ellicit Harry's help. Or something. Why do the villains have to kidnap someone to draw the hero out when most of the time they know who the hero is anyway? GG and Ock made sense but Venom and Sandman really didn't need to.
