Well... will it?

The very same curse that has fallen upon Spider-Man 3, etc.

People overhyping this movie may also be very disappointed... I'm not a naysayer or anything though, I can't wait for this.

Discuss. :woot:

From what we've seen, I've got a good feeling the answer is yes.

One word: chrisnolan.

Since BB I've always been interested as to what a Nolanverse Catwoman would be like, so this is very awesome indeed.

I've never been interested in Catwoman. In fact, I think she's the dumbest character in the Batman universe. Alongside King Tut, Egghead, and Crazy Quilt.

I think it will or at the very least it can. Don't we already have this thread in the Non-Spoilers forum?

There's going to be people who will say it's not as good as TDK or BB, you can pretty much bet on that.

Return of the King broke the curse a long time ago.

But with that being said, I think TDKR will be the Return of the King of comic book movies. I have this feeling that TDKR will be truly epic.

Return of The King doesn't really count as its really just the last part of one story(LOTR was intended to be one book, but the publishers pressured Tolkien to split it up into multiple books). However, if you are looking for three separate stories in a film trilogy without the third film curse, look no further than Indiana Jones. Many people, including myself, consider The Last Crusade to be the best one of the series next to the cinema classic that is Raiders of The Lost Arc. That said, more times than not, the third film of a series is the weakest.
TDKR can be one of those exceptions, but we still haven't seen enough from the film to really lean one way or another. Yes Nolan has yet to make a bad film, but EVERYONE has made at least one bad film. I'm willing to bet Nolan will slip up at least once in his career(I love the guy, but I'm a realist). I'm not saying it will be TDKR, but its just as naive to assume it will be good as it is naive to assume it will be bad.

I'd add Toy Story 3 to the list of movies that have escaped the curse.

What trilogy curse? There are plenty of great 3rd installments as there are bad ones - Toy Story 3, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Army of Darkness, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Die Hard With a Vengeance was at least better than Die Hard 2, and hell, even Revenge of the Sith was the best of its trilogy (not that that's high praise or anything...). And while not the conclusions to one story like TDKR will be, Goldfinger and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban are arguably two of the strongest entries in their long respective franchises.

Just because Sam Raimi dropped the ball, Tim Burton left the director's chair, and someone out there apparently expected Brett Ratner to NOT ruin X-men doesn't mean there's a "curse." (And yes, I know there have been other bad 3rd installments, but it always seems to be focused on those 3 whenever people discuss this topic in relation to TDKR. This is the same creative team that brought us TDK, and there's been no behind-the-scenes drama or studio mandated rush jobs. I don't see why this is even a concern.)
