The Dark Knight Rises Will this movie break the trilogy curse?

The only way I see TDKR failing to break the curse is if Nolan drops the ball while juggling all the characters that are in this film which looks to be bigger than TDK but I have full confidence that Nolan can pull it off. However I believe that due to sooo much hype on this movie I suspect that alot of people will be somewhat dissapointed in Nolans final entry

What trilogy curse? There are plenty of great 3rd installments as there are bad ones - Toy Story 3, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Army of Darkness, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Die Hard With a Vengeance was at least better than Die Hard 2, and hell, even Revenge of the Sith was the best of its trilogy (not that that's high praise or anything...). And while not the conclusions to one story like TDKR will be, Goldfinger and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban are arguably two of the strongest entries in their long respective franchises.

Just because Sam Raimi dropped the ball, Tim Burton left the director's chair, and someone out there apparently expected Brett Ratner to NOT ruin X-men doesn't mean there's a "curse." (And yes, I know there have been other bad 3rd installments, but it always seems to be focused on those 3 whenever people discuss this topic in relation to TDKR. This is the same creative team that brought us TDK, and there's been no behind-the-scenes drama or studio mandated rush jobs. I don't see why this is even a concern.)

This, completely. Just because none of these films are comic book films, doesn't mean that this can't be taken as a serious argument.

I definitely think Nolan understands the characters and will make a satisfying finale to his Batman franchise.

Actually that might be a good reason why TDKR might be the best of all 3 movies. Because TDK is so highly prized by the general audience, Nolan has to work extra extra hard to make TDKR an even bigger and more meaningful movie. Maybe that will be what pushes it above and beyond. And besides, as good as TDK is, it's still no Godfather. It CAN be improved upon. It's just that we're not the ones in control and it takes a lot of creativity and gut to make an improved product.

And that's where some filmmakers fail at in trying to achieve the "bigger, better" aspect. Nolan, in no way, has to make a better film; just a film to match up to his standards and his alone. The reason I say that is because Nolan creates amazing films for us anyways, so if he doesn't lose that touch, nothing can really go wrong, imo. But to go for bigger and better and what have you, it could go down a slippery slide.

I've been worried about this since day 1. Right now it has huge shoes to fill (TDK) and a lot of things to tie up. I think if Batman dies as some have strangely wanted so badly, then no, the movie won't be good. He can't die and make it a successful film. Otherwise I hope it does

I think the only thing this movie may NOT have is a very theatrical villain that puts the general audiences' butts in the movie seats...

the Joker.

Everyone loves the Joker. It's a fact of life.

However...

This movie has Catwoman, so we shall see. If the promotion of Catwoman is a hit... then this movie will be fine.

No, seriously, I don't think there's such a "curse". Even though, he makes mistakes sometimes, I believe Nolan is a very talented director unlike Ratner and Raimi (yes, I said it) and WB seems to be happy with him. There's a lot of talent involved in this film. So I really don't think this film will turn bad.
I mean, even though I will be pleasantly surprised if Catwoman is actually a good thing for this project, I'm sure Bane's badassness will overshadow this mess

Wtf? Hahahahaha....you just said it would be as bad as Spider-Man 3, didn't really answer that complaint and now asking me a whole new question.

First of all...we have no idea if this is just a beginners suit for Catwoman, or if it's even Catwoman at all. It could very well be just Selina Kyle with no Catwoman mask stealing the Bat-Pod.

And second...isn't that complaint mute? I mean, people are still dumb enough to not get that Batman is Bruce just because of a deeper voice. If the Gothamites are that dumb, then I'm sure they won't notice who Catwoman is even if she doesn't wear a mask.

But....they didn't. One set pic doesn't prove it's the final suit or even if they "****ed" up".

Like I said, some complaints some of you have on this film already are just laughable. Pictures won't decide the final outcome of a movie but yet you think it will be.

No they have not. The script, the acting, the directing is what will make this movie a success.
