This week the DCEU as we know it comes to an end with Aquaman 2, and it given the poor tracking and the fact it’s being constantly reported to have tested poorly it seems the DCEU that started with Man Of Steel ten years ago will go out on a whimper. Which is a shame, since despite its flaws I did genuinely enjoy the DCEU. It’s been a bumpy road, and hopefully the new DCU turns out carve a better path but I will miss the DCEU. How about you guys. Will you miss the DCEU or are you just about ready to move on to Gunn’s new DCU?

I largely enjoyed the films, but after all the bitter, volatile, childish arguments and general behavior it spawned from both people who liked the films and people who didn't I'm more than ready to put this era of DC films in the rearview mirror, it brought the absolute worst out of DC fans. I truly hope we can avoid such absurd divisiveness going forward.

I'm ready to move on. Man of Steel was okay. I liked Batman v Superman (although there were some bad decisions in the making of that movie). Wonder Woman was very good. Aquaman was fun - although I've no desire to rewatch it. There were some things in Wonder Woman 1984 that I enjoyed. The rest of it pretty much left me cold. And all the Cavill/Affleck 'Are they in/are they out' crap bored me senseless. Really, the only thing I'll miss is Gal Gadot as Diana.

ETA: I enjoyed The Flash. It's a shame we never got to see more of Keaton's return.

God no. It was a decade long burden full of garbage and toxicity. The only thing I'll miss is Margot and Gal. Good riddance to the rest.
I think that's what I initially said as well, but Gadot has proved yet again this year that she's pretty bad in the role when Jenkins is not directing, and she's an obnoxious person in real life so I retract any such comment.

Robbie is very likely to continue in the DCU since Peacemaker and Waller will be a part of it too.

How about you guys. Will you miss the DCEU or are you just about ready to move on Gunn’s DCU?
Both.

I loved parts of the DCEU and will remain a Snyder defender. I'd be happy to see JL2 with Letoker and Batfleck teaming up against Darkseid. I'd also like to see the Ayer cut, the original cut of Flash that rebooted the DCEU with Batgirl and Supergirl, and Batgirl. The biggest loss in all of this might be that we don't get a real franchise with Pattinson as Batman, or more Joker movies with Phoenix.

But it's also ok to move on, because I think that James Gunn will make good movies, and for that matter, so will Snyder over at Netflix. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has proven to me that Gunn is an outstanding filmmaker. I look forward to his interesting take on Superman. I hope he gets enough sustained creative freedom to really build something.

Nah. It had so many chances to be better than it was but it just feels like WB made every wrong decision imaginable. While Marvel showed how to properly build a cinematic universe leading up to the heroes teaming up & having further adventures that were exciting, DC just dropped the ball at every turn.

Sure, the Marvel movies are flat now, but when they weren't, they had the entire world sucked in. DC could've done the same, they have characters of that caliber & then some. But when you have too many people with power with horrible decision making skills, it's easy to fumble the bag.

It definitely didn't help having that loser Joss Whedon sabotage Justice League the way he did. Man, I really can't stand that dude so it's crazy to think he's ironically the one who also gave us The Avengers.

Anyway, no. They need to start fresh and focus on the individual movies before trying to jump right into the epic team up related stuff. Audiences need to care about the characters first, to feel like the stand-alone movies matter outside of leading up to something else or always winking at the camera acknowledging the shared universe aspect.

No, I kind of just want to forget about it now, just like DC and Warner Bros.

It still makes me sick to my stomach how badly Warner Bros. waffled and failed on all this for years.

Hard to say, i would go with no but the thing is...i enjoy most of the movies.
That is the crux of this.
Aquaman,Blue Beetle, WW, The Suicide Squad, The Flash, Shazam 1+2, Birds of Prey etc even black adam...i liked the movies.
But the foundation was broken and nothing saved the bad taste it left in peoples mouth sadly.

I think in general the DCEU had good movies...but it was just built on a rotting foundation and that hurt the movies.
Its a shame but also deserved for how WB behaved and the decisions they made.

Part of me will miss it because it gave me a lot of fun movies, no matter what box office etc says.
But a big part is also glad that we make a clean cut on this and fully restart from the beginning.

It had its moments, but in the end it became so toxic and so erratic that I am glad to see the tail end of it.

Not in the least bit.

Nope. I loved The Suicide Squad, which honestly felt more like a James Gunn flick separated from everything else and I loved Wonder Woman. I enjoyed Aquaman as well, but everything else was just okay at best to awful. I'm considering checking out aquaman 2 today, but I'm happy there will be a long break after this. I'm very much optimistic about Superman Legacy.

I'll miss the Birds of Prey cast. They all truly deserved a sequel.

I'll miss certain cast members but overall I'm pretty excited for the Gunn era.

I know he isn't for everyone but the guy knows how to tell a story and I'm cautiously optimistic that I'm going to trust his overall vision.

No, I won't miss the DCEU. As a DC fan, there were always interesting ideas or casting that kept me engaged/hopeful, but the films genuinely never connected with me. Too much mess that washed out any good that was being done.

It stumbled right out the gate with Man of Steel and never regained its footing. I wonder what could have been if someone besides Snyder had gotten the job--like, what if WB gave him Godzilla in 2014 instead and Gareth Edwards directed Man of Steel with Goyer's script? I'd argue Snyder wouldn't have even been half bad as director for Rogue One.

The DCEU had some movies I liked, but as a whole, no. I also am not that optimistic for Gunn's DC. DC is a cool IP, but WB is an awful studio now. I don't trust them to keep whatever plan they have in place long. They will fire everyone at the first sign of trouble, just like the DCEU. Regardless of regime, same story. I hope I am wrong though, but I just cannot see DC being a massive success in an age where even the MCU is struggling and the superhero market is too crowded

I enjoyed Gal as WW in both of her films. And I found Aquaman to be fun. But I’m ready to move on. And I’m ready to see the Snyder stuff disappearing in the rearview mirror as we speed away.

I pretty much felt the DCU ended before it started ,with Batman vs Superman : Dawn Of Justice .

Walking out of the theater , I felt even then ,that they would , at the very least, have to walk away from those versions of Batman, Superman, and Lex , and that they'd have to be rebooted .

I didn't see those iterations as salvageable .

Others may disagree, fair enough .

But At the time , I felt that film really put those versions into a corner , in terms of winning the good will of the GA .

I enjoyed the first WW film , and the stuff outside the DCU, like The Batman and Joker , but I've been over it for quite some time now .

So at this point, I'm ready for a new beginning .

MOS I thought was a great film and a good start up, but the next movie was where it failed. Too much going on. Death of Superman, Batman meeting Superman first time, Wonder Woman first time, new lex. Should’ve got rid of death of Superman and Wonder Woman and not have made Batman the punisher, but I respect they let Snyder tell his story. I won’t miss it, but I have even less faith in Gunn. Not a fan of his movies, style or ideas.

I'm not going to miss it. If anything, I loved it for what it could have been, not for what it was.
