Windows Network Problem

The new router you mean? I haven't got any of that hooked up yet, but I've got someone bringing me an old modem they aren't using anymore to see if that does the trick. What could cause a modem to allow a Mac to obtain the info it needs but not a PC? Do Macs bypass something that PC's dont?

TCP\IP is TCP\IP...PC or Mac, doesnt matter...the protocol is the same, doesnt matter the platform

Well, it apparently had something to do with the modem. We swapped it out for a new one and everything is up and running. Thanks for the help everybody.

What about the AppleTalk protocol?

Appletalk won't get you onto the 'net over a DSL connection. It doesn't have the capability to carry PPOE/PPOA information. And Malice is right, it's slow as hell compared to newer protocols.

Absolutely...Appletalk might have been a nice little protocol 20 years ago for a small lan...but should generally NEVER be used at all in modern environments...its pointless
