Just saw Iron Man 3... people are seriously gonna have problems with the movie :D

I seriously did not expect that coming, the tone is completely different, the villain Mandarin surprised the heck out of me, and what they did with Pepper... I enjoyed it, the movie deserves a 9/10 from me, but I'm wondering if Iron Man comicbook fans, or the die-hard fans of the first two will like it on it's own terms. Whether you like this movie or not, you gotta admit that it's a hard piece to swallow, a piece that may not be in everyone's taste

I will answer questions if you want

Was it better than IM2?

Definitely. Though the one thing that Iron Man 2 has over IM3 is that the tone is consistent with the previous movie, while IM3 feel entirely different than either of the other installments. The tone, it's not even the tone we saw in the trailers, it's just... really weird. It takes advantage of the broken rule, it no longer has to be realistic or grounded after Thor's introduction into the universe and such

Does it have same tone as Avengers?

There are die hards for Iron Man 2...?

Does it have same tone as Avengers?

nah, the tone is kinda Thor'ish actually with boosted drama & quirkiness elements. Tbh I'm still very much digesting the movie

it basically feels like if suddenly they felt confident enough with the Iron Man series to give the director full control of the movie, and Shane Black just went balls out with it

Is there a big tie in with the Avengers during the movie?

I still don't hate IM2. Not at all. But I fully agree regarding the flaws. I could make fun of it all day. Then again I could enjoy watching it all day too. Hell at least
Whiplash is really who he says he is/appears to be/trailers made him seem he was. *cough* Lookin at you "Mandarin" *cough*

i love iron man 1 and really enjoy the 2nd one (i've watched it many times - omg i know)

and i still adored iron man 3. glad you enjoyed it wallcrawler :)

i just want more films from shane black. ideally that would include iron man 4, but maybe that's being greedy.

If you enjoyed Iron Man 2, then I'm not so sure if I should be trusting you when you said the twist can be viewed as 'okay', lol :oldrazz:

In all honesty, by the sound of the whole twist itself, I feel like Iron Man will be the only film in the trilogy that has an actual great villain. Obadiah Stane was phenomenal. So could have Vanko and Hammer, but IM2 felt like an Avengers trailer instead and [BLACKOUT]well...The Mandarin...lol.[/BLACKOUT]

Anyone else who had Avengers on the top of the list of the MCU films feel like lately IM really deserves that top spot? I've been going through the emotions with that question myself as I've come to really, really, really enjoy the first IM film way more than TA.

i guess iron man 3 does make iron man 2 worse in my eyes, simply cos of the comparison factor lol.

I'm seeing it because most say it's a Shane Black movie with comic book characters in it, not because it's a MCU movie that Shane directed.

They do not squeeze in exposition for the next Avengers like they did in Iron Man 2, but the trauma of Tony from the first Avengers does play out quite a lot in the script

Once you see it, I think you'll agree it's 110% Marvel. Though it's a lot more like the comics than MCU when it comes to the overall feel

That's... the 1st time anyone's said this. Interesting.

yep. but keep in mind the extremis soldiers are not exactly what they were in the comics. just saying, I wasn't exactly disappointed but the source material was better on that front

I've heard what they are. Sounds kinda ******ed, but as long as they're there in Stormtrooper capacity, I don't really mind.

I see, that's good to know. Appreciate your response. I had one last question though. Without spoiling anything, is the action in this movie on par or close to the Avengers in any way. I know that Joss saw the movie a while ago and he had nothing but positive things to say about it. He seemed almost worried that the bar was set too high for him now for the Avengers 2. I mostly would like to know about the final battle in comparison.

it isn't bigger in scale, though it comes close in places i suppose. what i will say that the action is more..creative?

The whole idea of Avengers was to be grand, so imo it isn't fair to compare IM3 to it, of course Avengers was bigger. BUT as a solo superhero-film, the scale of the action was one of the biggest, if not the biggest ever.
