Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I'm excited to see it too, but all I can think of are looonnngggg liiiinneeesss in the blistering summer sun.... ick.

When you walk through the Dueling Dragons line, you can see some of the shops and props and stuff. It looks awesome so far, and only two more weeks 'till it opens!

Anyone catch the NBC show that aired tonight? It was a behind the scenes of the park's creation.

I saw it but it was kind of lame, like they didn't show anything that I haven't seen before. I thought they were going to show more of the ride and all. Not bad for those who know nothing about the new addition to the park, but for those who do it was nothing new.

OH MY GOD. That's so cool. I need to find out how much it costs to fly out to Universal and stay there a week. :o

For a package for 2, it costs about $800 a person for the week. Granted, that's if you book far enough in advance. I'm not sure if you can get it for that cheap anymore.

Yeah, it was ok. It was nothing that new, but oh well. I wanted to see more of the shops and whatnot.

Well then....Guess I better start saving for next year.

I have a bunch of friends who have been inside the park already.. so jealous!

I was just reading a theme park forum and it looks like they've been having a lot of soft openings already. It sounds amazing, I can't wait until the end of September to finally get there.

I also heard there's been some issues with the height/weight restrictions on Forbidden Journey and a lot of people are being told they can't ride it. :wow:

New headline: Wizarding World of Harry Potter to help cut back on obesity? :oldrazz: I'm all for it!

Interesting, I wonder what the height restriction is...

It seems the restrictions are more about chest size, so it doesn't necessarily mean obese people, just persons with a larger than average chest size. So, even muscular guys or gals can be turned away. That's why they have test seats.

Some guy is actually blogging about his quest to lose enough weight to get on the ride! http://banksleethethreeclicks.blogspot.com/

It looks like body size in general - if the restraint doesn't click 3 times on the test seat you're out. Even people who've passed the test seats for the Hulk and the Mummy aren't being allowed on FJ. Someone posted their family picture outside the castle, and the dad wasn't that overly large, but he wasn't allowed on the ride.

There's a ton of threads about it on one of the theme park forums I was reading, there doesn't seem to be clear indicator of what exactly the dimensions are yet. Kinda sucks for someone who paid $800 for a vacation package who gets there and can't go on the ride. I'm fine for it, the friend I'm going with is nervous about it now.

Hmm, interesting. Have you read anything that lists a specific number of inches around?

Haha, Emma Watson was going crazy at that theme park.

Yeah, I know, there's been a lot of talk about it over at Orlando United. But, the consensus is that the chest measurements are the main culprit on getting on the ride. If you look at the restraints you can tell that they look tight in the chest area.

This makes me nervous, because I have rather large...ahem...assets. :o

Nothing I can find yet. Like Downhere said, it's mostly dimensions around the chest area that's causing problems with the seats. So you don't even have to be overweight, you could have a big frame and still be too big for the ride.

One person posted that a guy caused a whole scene because they wouldn't let him on the ride due to his broad shoulders not fitting the seat restraints. :wow:

Overall, it looks like most people can get on. It just looks like the seat restrictions are higher on this ride than they are on most (and the rumor is that larger seats are coming later in the year).

Yeah, I was a little worried about that too. Height and weight I'm fine, but...yeah, anyway...:oldrazz: People were posting bra sizes I didn't know existed on the other board and they were able to ride it, although it may be tight.

I'm 5'4 and weigh 146. So I think I'm ok on height and weight. So hopefully I'll do alright. Because if I can't ride that ride when I visit I'll kill somebody. :oldrazz:

lol...well, the best bet is to try the test seats and/or like tape your assets to make them flatter...although it may hurt some. :hehe::oldrazz:

But seriously, I think you'll be fine. I'm worried about myself since I have broad shoulders, and with another fella having similar issues due to the shoulders I hope mine aren't broad enough to stop me from riding whenever I go. I need to be freaked out by dementors on this thing! lol.
