Wolverine and the X-Men DVD!!!!

Excellent news thanks.

Good to see they are loading up this release with DVD extras as well.

I'm glad Lionsgate is serious about this show on DVD, but I would probably rather wait for a season set.

They'd better give it a full-season treatment. I mean, I'm sure they would...but if they don't...grrrr...

It's a volume 1 release. So I'd say there's a good chance.

Avatar got volume releases and season releases.

yea i really hope the have season box sets!

well season 1 has 26 episodes so more than likely it will

Great news, as I keep forgetting to watch it on TV!

Well yeah the link on top said so as well.

some bad news,

W&TXM will be put into volumes, containing 4 episodes!

scroll down till the end.

i dont know weather there will be like 5 volumes because it says "limited edition" on the top?maybe its just to promote the series boxset?
i think this because why would they bring out 2 dvds, one with the first 3 and another with the same with an added episode?

what do u think?

Wolverine and the X-Men should of been the name of all the X-Men films.

It boggles my mind that an OFFICIAL DVD Collection of the 90's X-Men Animated Series has yet to be released. You know, back when they had an idea/show that was actually about the X-Men TEAM, and not something almost solely about Wolverine.

The best thing to ever happen to Wolverine was back when Magneto ripped out his adamantium in the X-Men Fatal Attractions comic book.

It's just too bad they had to screw that one up, just like they did after killing off Superman.

More data on the first release.

Honestly, only 3 episodes per DVD is almost robbery for $15 - $20 a pop (basically $5 an episode). Anyone with half a brain, patience, or access to a computer will just wait for the season set. But, fleecing suckers is kind of what business people do best. They always love to sucker the impatient with DVD's.

I love how Colossus is featured as part of the menu screen art for this first disc. Yeah, 'cause Episode 1 is the ONLY episode where he appears (unless you count a brief "blink and miss" cameo in episode 8, which isn't really him). The sheer amount of promo art and adverts that Colossus has appeared in is insane considering how much of a nothing he contributes to the series. It's borderline false advertising. Why plaster a character's mug all over the place (at least as often as Beast in some ads) when he's hardly in the show at all? They acknowledge in the marketing dept. that Colossus is somewhat recognizable, yet the writers and producers do NOTHING with him in the actual show? It's maddening. Booster Gold in JLU did more than Colossus has in WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN. I wouldn't mind it half as much if he didn't tease everyone so much in those promo's, man.

If people don't want it they don't have to buy it.

WB even released the pilot movie and also starcrossed as single DVD releases for Justice league.

this is simply the norm for animated releases.

They are releasing the pilot episodes together since they all run together as a sort of movie and they gave it some extras release. Its not a bad idea.

Also most animated releases don't give you a lot of episodes anyway. Back in VHS days you got maybe TWO EPISODES on a tape.

I got the entire first season today. It's got 4 discs. :)

The problem is...it is no longer the VHS days. Including more than 2-3 episodes on a VHS tape got expensive and put a lot of film inside there. I accepted that excuse for TV shows and anime back then. But it's not 1999 anymore. Hell, it's not even 2002 anymore.

I know animated TV show DVD's are always like that, and WB is more notorious for that. They did that with a slew of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES releases too, along with BATMAN BEYOND before wising up. It only took about 3-4 years. Just today, in 2009, it seems like a practice that exists either out of blind habit, or to drain money from suckers and chain stores. Just wait for the season set. Like live action TV.

Oh, well. I suppose those who can't wait to own an official release will be happy.

I still wish they wouldn't plaster Colossus all other promo art. Why not Squidboy or Bishop? Both of them do far more. :p

why not Forge? or Kitty?
i love them, and i'm so happy that they're finally having major roles in a TV show and not some annoying valley girl version or used randomly for no reason.

Colossus is popular, and Squidboy isn't an X-man.

Bah! I'd rather get the 90s series thanks.

See, I agree. Forge and Kitty do FAR more than Colossus in this show. Plaster THEIR mugs all over. It'd be accurate and fair.

As for "the valley girl routine" from EVOLUTION, I admit that I wasn't too put off at the time. I remembered that when Kitty was created in 1980, she was usually into every vapid teenager fad that existed back then, from rollar skates to pop music to atrocious wardrobe decisions that not even Madonna would have been caught in. To me, the "valley girl" thing was just a year 2000 attempt to rework that for a modern audience. She still was very sweet, and could be smart & cunning when she applied herself, which is what makes Kitty cool. In WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN she is sassier, more akin to a Kim Possible, which I suppose is also fine, even if a bit played out by 2009.

Once again. With animated shows you still get releases like this.

I know. I acknowledged and lamented that in the post above.

Colossus is popular, and Squidboy isn't an X-man.

But that is what tugs at my fanboy heart. If Colossus is popular enough to promote, why isn't he popular enough to be written into episodes? I just don't understand it. Like newwave said, why not plaster Forge and Shadowcat instead more often? They actually play decent, at times vital roles in episodes. Colossus is almost a blink-and-miss cameo. It's almost false advertising to plaster his mug on so many posters, menus, and ads for the show.

Dread, I'm serious, your whining about Colossus is becoming a detriment.

My suggestion is go to SDCC and make a Colossus in season 2 demonstration.

Squidboy served a good purpose in the series and ultimately

he was ****ing fishworm food at the end. THEY KILLED SQUIDBOY HE'S AN EX SQUIDBOY! SO JUST STOP MOANING ABOUT IT! GRAGGH!
