Wolverine and the X-men: Episode 22: "Aces and Eights"

He joins the X-men in season 2? :woot:I'm looking forward to the Gambit/Storm interactions. It seems like she'll have hard time trying to convince to fight along side the X-men. This Gambit is a true scoundrel.

I still hate his voice though. Such a shame.

I really enjoyed this episode. It delivered the Gambit we all love. Just one thing is bugging me. How did he get back after Lorna destroyed his boat? :oldrazz:

One tap and Magneto succumbs to Rogue, and frankly for me that has been something that has never worked, even in EVOLUTION. You need to appreciate Magneto as a threat, and you can't do that if he flops unconscious at the slightest tap to the cheek by Rogue.

Magneto was in a confined space and his anger at Kelly seemed to have distracted him. But it could also be because a hard fight might’ve exceeded the episode’s time limit or something.

"Gambit a natural athlete!" as he once boasted in the episode "NIGHTCRAWLER" in 1996. Maybe he just swam. :)

I know it was a required contrivance, and it wasn't a deal breaker. Just that sort of thing annoyed me in EVOLUTION so it sparked some memories.

I personally think that this Magneto is by far the best portrayal of the character in a show. Magneto from TAS was lame, his power even worse, Evolution's reached his full potential only at season two finale, before that he was a joke... and this Magneto is a ruler, a king of Genosha with an army at his side and followers... I think his character is used rightfully in every aspect. Comparing to this show every other Magneto was somehow misused before, and defeated in a way that was not appropriate. This Magneto wasn't even once defeated. There is a sense of realism in this show. And the thing with Rouge was quick, even we as viewers didn't see it coming, I doubt he would react differently while his thoughts were on Kelly and his treachery.

Rogue, Rogue, Rogue, Rogue, R-O-G-U-E!

Seriously, that annoys the crap out of me.

90s Magneto was really well-done, though he was a lot more sympathetic then this show's version; WatXM's Magneto is about halfway between the 90s version and the X:E one in terms of likeability. He's certainly very well portrayed (Tom Kane's McKellen-inspired voice suits him well).

90's cartoon Magneto was more of an anti-hero after the first season, and spent seasons 3 and 4 usually seeking to repent for his crimes or weary of his struggle. Even in the series finale when he had a chance for his mutant revolution, he abandoned it to try to save Xavier.

Evolution Magneto was more of a straight up villain. He didn't have much remorse and was usually especially cold to his children. He only seemed to relax a little after being freed from Apocalypse for the series finale.

W&TXM's Magneto, as some have said, is more of a mixture of the previous incarnations, with Tom Kane obviously being at least a little inspired in his performance by Sir Ian McKellen. While this Magneto cares for most of his kids and Xavier deeply, he also is more than willing to make deals with nasty people or do bad things to accomplish his goals. While not as ruthless or remorseless as the Evolution version, he has been more of a consistent antagonist than the 90's Magneto was. Magneto's been handled very well by this show, frankly. He's not one of the characters I complain about in terms of development.

I think the Magneto portrayals of each cartoon are products of their time. The TAS was created not too long after Magneto spent time as an X-Man himself and even when he returned to villiany it was as an extremely sympathetic one.

Evolution came out way after that and Magneto was distanced more from his time as an X-Man. The creators were probably less inclined to make him as sympathetic.

W&TXM's Magneto on the other hand, is definitely inspired by Ian McKellen.

Great episode. Ive liked the idea of Gambit and Polaris for a while and I loved seeing that play out here.

How old is Lorna in this series? She appeared very young in this episode, like 16ish

Gambit is really awesome
Glad to see him in 2nd season as a new x-man recruit :D
Also Archangel in next episode Shade of Grey will be awesome, guys!!!!!!!
Has Gambit's joining been confirmed? Linkee, sil vous plait. I've only watched just the two Gambit eps and loved them both, I love how he and Logan interact. I like Wolvie as much as the next guy, but not having Gambit on the roster was enough to make me not watch all of this. I would change my mind of Remy was a full time member.

Was that before or after he skied into the tree? lol. :p

Yeah, I remember this episode, it was definitely my favorite!

Is Gambit confirmed as a recruit for the next season? where did that come from?

Someone mentioned it a few posts ago but gave no proof. It prolly isn't true. :(

It better be true :cmad: Gambit is probably the only X-man who would stand up to wolverine (in this cartoon anyway). It would make for some interesting interaction since everybody seems to think he is always right.

It would be required for me to watch this. With Gambit not in the lineup I simply have no incentive to do more than collect the eps with him in it. :(

Best line of the episode is Gambit's response when Wanda blasts down the door to his guest room. She's standing there all mad and he without even looking ather calmly replies: "Hmmm, i thought i locked that." hahah classic.

That's a shame. it's a really good cartoon (unless you're a Cyclops fan). It's more mature than Evo.

I watched the first four eps and it really didn't grab me. I liked Evo better. :(

Tell me about it, I had to watch every single episode every day just to make sure I didn't miss Gambit :woot:
remember that it was first aired in latin america and all we had back then were the names of the episodes, no recaps or anything :(

lol yeah, he didn't even flinch :hehe:

Gambit was cool, even in the spanish versions when I couldn't understand a word he was saying. It was all in teh tone and the eyes. They did a nice job with him, even if he was only in two eps. :(

Before. It was hilarious. Even Wolverine joked at the absurdity of all three of them (Gambit, Rogue, and himself) surviving all these battles, yet almost about to be killed by ski accidents and avalanches.

That's right kids, even the 1990's X-Men series wasn't as serious.

I just watched the episode (I'm really not keeping up with this show). Man, Gambit was awesome!

I actually hope he doesn't join the team.

I like him better as the thief he is, coming and going, mixing it up with the X-Men here and there.
