Does anyone else find the 'Bourne' storyline to be amazingly similiar to the Wolverine as Weapon X storyline? The similarities are major. Lost memory, struggle to regain humanity, each discovering they volunteered for it.

Most definately, I especially thought that in The Bourne Ultimatum. Losing a big love interest is another similarity as well. Maybe that is why I liked the Bourne films so much, because I related them to Wolverine in some way or another.

Yes, there are similarities, except Bourne was on the run (which Wolverine wasn't, in the movies at least). Bourne is more like a rogue James Bond to me; he isn't as animalistic as Logan and he is much slicker as an operative, relying on agility and gut instinct rather than brute strength and enhanced senses. And Wolverine has been around much longer than Jason Bourne. The sci-fi of the Wolverine movie will differentiate them, so don't worry.

Especially with the last Bourne movie, which I thought was great, I thought they made Jason too much like Batman, nevermind Wolverine. The station scene where he just descends on agents and knocks them out, always getting into places he shouldn't be able to. It was all very cool.

I actually wouldn't mind if 'Wolverine' was a bit like 'Bourne'. I would definitely like to see Jackman's Wolverine demonstrate better fighting techniques than he has in the X movies.

There are definitely similarities - Blackbriar and Weapon X, the memory loss that Bourne has, journey to piece together his past and they're both best there is at what they do and what they do isn't very nice.:woot:

Also....i think Bourne also got Logan's healing powers too. No way could have survived the things that he did in Ultimatum such as that [BLACKOUT]highspeed car crash in NY and the bullet from Vosen[/BLACKOUT] without it.:o

They are similar but I like them both for very different reasons.

Lol I said pretty much the same thing to Bro after we watched BU. :woot: Still a good movie, though. ;)

So True .. I still love the bourne movies though .

I only thought of it during Ultimatum but the Matrix also came to mind during the final act.

I don't care if it was drastically unrealistic; I love Bourne!:bh:</random use of Hulk smiley>

There's definitely some similarites, at least on a basic level.

Don't forget that Brian Cox has very similar scenes in both characters' second movies, wherein he reveals that they volunteered to become killers.

Will the general public think that Wolverine Origins is ripping off Bourne even though it's obvious that it was the other way around? Has enough time passed since Ultimatum?

Actually, I believe Bourne's origin was published first. Seriously, though, hopefully the movies will be different enough. Characters like Bourne and Wolverine have been done before and the general public doesn't seem to mind too much... although I do agree. Ultimatum is very reminiscent of Wolverine.

Well, in fairness, Wolverine already discovered his past in X2, before Bourne Ultimatum came out.

The Wolverine movie won't be like Bourne Ultimatum because it will show Wolverine's past, not him discovering it.

Oddly people who don't follow comics might think its the other way around and wolverine is copying bourne

A lot films follow that theme. On a side note however, I wish Matt Damon would have played Matt Murdock.

i would like to see damon play captain america.

I can't believe nobody on Youtube has done a Wolverine/Bourne video yet. I'm sure going to do one as soon as I get all three Bourne DVDs.

PS: If anybody reads this and decides to do one, please give me request credit. ;)

Well Wolverine was created in 1974 and Bourne in 1980. However I'm not sure when they gave Wolverine his backstory. Maybe not until Byrne came along. So it's tough to say who did the amnesiac thing first. I do know they didn't start Wolverine out that way. They added it later.

This immediately came to mind when I watched Bourne two days ago, thought I was the only one, no one I knew saw the similarites

Hopefully the Wolverine movie comes out as great and well received as all three bourne films.

At least X-3 didn't give me a headache like the camera work in Bourne 3 did. :oldrazz:
