Wolverine Origins Sequel

With Chris McQuarrie writing the script, does that mean we could have Bryan Singer directing?

Can we not refer people who didn't like the movie "whiny fanboys". There were plenty of valid reasons not to like the movie, and everyone is entitled to their opinions, even if you don't agree.

Moving on...

From the front page, Christopher McQuarrie will be writing the sequel:

McQuarrie to Write Wolverine Sequel!
Source:The Hollywood Reporter
August 13, 2009

Christopher McQuarrie has signed on to write the script for 20th Century Fox's Wolverine sequel. McQuarrie won an oscar for writing The Usual Suspects and reteamed with that film's director, Bryan Singer, for the first X-Men.

McQuarrie voluntarily took his name off X-Men when the final version was more in line with David Hayter's script than his.

Hugh Jackman will again star as Logan/Wolverine. He is also producing via his Fox-based Seed production company along with Lauren Shuler Donner.

The Hollywood Reporter says the movie's story line will takes its cue from the early 1980s Chris Claremont-Frank Miller miniseries, which is set in Japan and features Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai's code of honor and respect.

Made for about $150 million, "Wolverine" earned $363.2 million worldwide.

I'm glad to read that McQuarrie is doing the script.:)

It'd be great if they could get Singer back for directing duties as well.

WOOo!

I liked Origins, but i just thought it had a better movie in there somewhere and one of hte problems i thought was the script, it was deffinetly lacking. Getting an Oscar winner doesn't mean everything, but McQuarrie is a true to form quality writer. He's done some great stuff.

Even if he can get this picture started and guide it with a few drafts in the right direction, im going to start to anticipate Wolvie 2 even more. Better yet, that its in Japan, cause this can leave McQuarrie to write some interesting stuff involving Logans samurai past, maybe Silver Samurai and Logan copping with becoming this animal and his honor to the samurai way. Thinking out loud[or while typing].

Good start in the direction of the sequel. Everyone is saying to bring back Singer and i don't know, cause i rather them try to persuade him into X4...but if working on this movie gets his mutant blood boiling again, maybe its a perfect way to try and get him back on the main series again.

I would love to see some awesome villians in this movie. I honestly think Omega Red would be one of the coolest looking/acting villians in a wolverine movie. Sabertooth is the obvious but I dont wanna see him at all. The last movie where they helped eachother fight "Deadpool" I feel ruined the whole Sabertooth Wolvy vibe for me.

But anyway yea I would love to see that Samurai as the villian because apparently thats where its heading, Logan choosing his animalistic path or the samurai way.

I really wouldnt mind seeing Omega in there with his awesome broken English.

Who would all of you like to see as villians?

Post here I'd love to hear your responses!

For me, Quarrie it's an horrible choice. From the Usual Suspect it's no more a great writer. Valkirye script and the movie are the most boring thing I have read and seen in my entire life.

Yes, yes, and the others? HR forget Solomon, Whedon, Schamus and John Logan. :D

I doubt Omega Red will be in this. Fans have been waiting for him since X-3. He's probably too expensive a villain anyway. Don't think we should expect him in a Japan movie. Knowing Fox, he will probably be one of the main guys in the movie.

I had to read this part over and over to understand what it meant...lol
Glad this writer is on "XO: Wovlerine 2"

i have an odd feeling that there's gonna be some big azz confrontation between wolvy / sabes...idk why..but its like i know it'll happen..

I want to see Wolverine vs The Silver Samurai. I also would like to see...Lord Shingen, The Hand, and Elektra (as a villain, that switches sides).

Wolvie/Sabertooth team up didn't really hurt the vibe for me, Sabertooth has always been the one that wanted to kill Wolverine himself. So it sorta fits in what the character had been portrayed in past.

What's weird is that in the Japan story Wolverine is supposed to struggle with his animalistic instincts but in the first Wolverine film he barely had any. He was just a bit cranky.

"No one kills you but me" was one of my favorite lines in the first film.

If Sabertooth is back (and I do hope Liev comes back for the sequel), it will be interesting to see how they play up that relationship now that Wolverine has no idea who he is.

Maybe he's extra cranky now that he can't remember anything. :oldrazz:

Seriously, I really hope they let him loose in this one. Yes, he struggles with trying not to hurt innocent people, but he loves killing bad guys. We need more of that.

Well Hugh Jackman has always talked about how much he loves the Wolverine Japan story arc, so this one might be faithful to the comics. :D:D

OK, Jackman has no control on the writing and screening and overall direction of the film. Any actor can say how much of a fan they are of a comic, but that won't stop the makers from derailing the film.

But the true nature of his animalistic instincts i think come from when he has no memory, so basically he has no conscious to what type of person he is, he goes by instinct and he was a trained killer.

If you look at the series as a whole...

Logan should have his memory wiped again in this one...since in the actual X-Men films...he fights the same as in Origins...

im sorry, but this idea just sounds stupid to me, i never read about wolverine being in japan, but i am not a fan of martial arts/japanese movies, i guess because the only marvel hero that went from the real world to japan is electra, a really bad movie, idk i can't really say anything until i see the actual movie

I don't care who writes it as long as he squeezes in a Gambit cameo or better in it. :D

:huh::huh::huh: this was an origins story in which he went to japan...
