Gal Gadot was an athletic trainer for the army, she also studied for the role of Wonder Woman disciplines such as kickboxing and Kung Fu, jujutsu and fencing classes.

So this amazon will know how to get your ass kicked. But how do you think Woman's fighting style will be? Some examples?

Also do you think Gadot will have a fighting double for most of the scenes or will she be doing most of the heavy stuff?

I think that WW should appear skilled, and in that top tier of fantasy warriors, but I don't want to see too much obvious Eastern Martial Arts influence, even though it is of course going to be in there somewhere in the mix. I would say that her ability to fly also plays a part in how you present her in combat on the big screen. If she isn't going to fly then I say merge some conservative use of wire work and parkor. She should sort of be like Cap in TWS times ten, considering that she is many times stronger than Cap is, so the moves would not only be skillful and fluid looking but also pack concrete shattering power if any should make contact. I think she should have a style that has lots of throws and locks, but also be a dynamic one, where she can handle multiple attackers, so some good straight forward and not to flowery striking too. Something that is supposed to give the vibe of her having learned some kind of Combat Pankration or the like. Against normal human foes she should be able to subdue them without hesitation using some kind of joint or body lock as her go to move. I would like to see her use her environment as well. I don't see WW as being on the same exact level of invulnerability or strength as Superman, and as such, I could see her using her surroundings to her advantage a lot, like picking up debris to chuck at her equally powerful foes, or using one vehicle as a battering ram against another vehicle. If she has a weapon available and the situation calls for it, she should have that aspect integrated into her fighting, not just as a hand held weapon, but utilizing her strength she could also use them as a ranged attack tool by throwing say a sword or shield. I think that for a superhuman, we should see her level of concentration and skill come out as she fights, especially against opponents like Cheetah or Giganta or First Born who can match her in physicality. Perhaps, given the connection to Mythical heroes of Western Culture, perhaps her fighting can also have a bit of swash buckling flare as well?

Her lasso should be used extensively to distinguish her style. I quite like those animated pieces. If it's like those ill be happy.

I do hope we see her super human strength and ability to fly at least in her solo movie but a hint in BvS would be nice.

What Snyder and Co. can come with for the lasso is going to be very interesting indeed.

IMO She learned many disciplines just for basics.. remember Faora and her unique fight style, I think Wonder Woman will have an unique, fast and strong fighting style but based in those fighting styles... I'm all for it.
Also.. nice post man

Krav Maga will probably be her base based on Gadot's background.

Wing Chun: close combat
Gladiator net: lasso
Gladiator gladius: short sword

She mentioned already what she'll be learning.
I imagine it will resemble faora but with a sword.

Pretty cool knowing some of the women of the dcu. Can already imagine how Gal would look next to Robbie in a sense.

^^ They are the World's Finest (one a hero and another a villain) the 2 sexiest of the DCCU. imagine Harley trying to punch Wondy and she's like b%&& please!

I'm not sure how to properly describe it, but I hope that most of the time Wonder Woman's fighting style is like the calm, graceful and fluid style of the female warriors in films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

With years and years of experience (possibly hundreds or thousands of years if Wonder Woman is really immortal) and with strength, abilities and skills that far eclipse most opponents, I think that Wonder Woman would be able to enter and diffuse or finish most fights relatively easily. I guess, I almost see Wonder Woman as primarily fighting defensively rather than directly engaging an enemy. She would use short and simple moves to disarm an opponent and then provide them with an opportunity to surrender peacefully, otherwise she'll forcefully subdue them (i.e. by binding them in her lasso, as opposed to knocking them unconscious).

However, when Wonder Woman comes up against a mighty foe, then I want to see a true knock down, drag out style of fight where Wonder Woman uses every single available resource to emerge victorious. I want to see her smack her bracelets around the opponents head, remove her tiara and use it as a weapon, head-butt her opponent while wearing her tiara, wrap her unbreakable lasso around her fist to increase the impact and damage of her punch, etc. In this instance, Wonder Woman should take the fight to her opponent in an attempt to finish the fight as quickly as possible because she has other concerns (e.g. possible harm to civilians).

From vague memory, I was quite impressed by the Wonder Woman fight choreography in her battle against the Female Furies in the animated Supergirl movie (which I think was titled something to do with Superman and Batman). Again, from poor memory, Wonder Woman started off being very graceful and using a lot of defensive moves to try and diffuse the situation, but when she realised that the Female Furies were a genuine threat, then she became much more offensive and proactive in her actions.

Diana should be fluid with some showy acrobatics along with strong standing grappling, joint locks and throws as well as great striking ability. For less powerful enemies for sure she does the whole submission/lock/hold thing, but when it comes time to battle with opponents of the same level of power... All bets are off. She is the Amazon Ambassador of Peace but she is also it's greatest Mistress of War.

I've said this before when this topic has come up, but since there's a thread for it...

I think the fighting style used in the film Troy with Brad Pitt would work well for WW.

That done in a super human sort of way... Hell yeah MrsK. Hell to the yeah. I loved Achilles fighting style in TROY. The presentation was that of a warrior that was both precise but powerful. I would also like to see a good share of just pure strength moves too, so picking up debris from the battlefield to chuck at her foes, cars, chunks of concrete, tanks ect. or something like, she's on a roof top surrounded by enemies and instead of getting into a protracted fight she just stomps her foot down so hard the roof collapses under the bad guys and she leaps out of there.

That sounds good. But, I'd probably prefer to see the villain throw a car at Wonder Woman and her catch it (and possibly fire it back at the villain) instead of seeing Wonder Woman engage in wanton property destruction. I'd like Wonder Woman to have more awareness about the potential for property damage and inadvertent civilian casualties as a result of her super-powered actions. For example, I wouldn't want to see her throwing a tank unless she was sure that it was empty (whether or not it contained enemy soldiers) and unless she was sure that the impact of her throw wouldn't damage surrounding buildings (which civilians need to return to) or injure civilians.

Similarly, while it would be a good show of strength for Wonder Woman to drop a bunch of bad guys with roof debris, I'd like to think that she'd be aware of the possibility for fatalities arising from such an action and that she'd simply fly away instead of potentially killing some of them (if the circumstances allowed her to simply retreat).

All just IMHO. I guess I just don't want Wonder Woman to come across as blood-thirsty or ignorant of the potentially negative impact of her super-strength (and other abilities) on regular mortals (whether enemies or civilians).

When Wonder Woman is fighting common enemies for example thiefs, she should not even sweat but when fighting Darkseid's minions, Brainiac army, etc and the bosses we should see her potential IMO.

It would be cool if her cuffs absorbs all the kinetic energy of a projectile. So when she blocks bullets, they would disintegrate or fall down. It could be practical way of protecting bystanders from getting hit by stray gun fire.

I started training in this a bit recently. Love it. Also it would be a very cool/unique style for Diana

I would love to see something like this:

Hopefully Snyder's stunt team in BvS can lay the foundation for a visually interesting use of the magic lasso that Jenkins and her crew can build on. Here are some demonstrations of use of flexible weapons from Eastern and Western fighting. Now, remember, Wonder Woman has amazing super human strength and the lasso is supposedly "unbreakable/invulnerable" so while in these demos certain moves might seem harmless, imagine instead a SFX enhanced Gal using the lasso like this with all her Amazon strength behind the techniques.

Now, I am on record as stating that I don't want WW to come off like she stepped out of CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON. She shouldn't come across aesthetically like a clone of a Kung Fu hero, but I do think that a savvy fight choreographer can integrate such techniques as were shown above into a fighting style that is not obviously like a Golden Harvest film hero clone.

I think that the lasso can have multiple uses on the battlefield for WW, and hopefully we see extensive use of this unique comic book weapon.

Outside of Trinity from the Matrix, Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger, are there any other good female fight sequences that people can think of that the WW film might take some inspiration from?

Yeah, maybe a little cheesy, but these female martial arts heroes mostly come off pretty badass. I hope they can pull this sort of stuff off with Gal, only of course with super human powers. [YT]Mmekl2WbQ1g[/YT]

Just for fun, a tribute featuring Wonder Woman and the rest of the powerful and amazing female characters of DC and Marvel in one kickass AMV with the song ENTER SANDMAN by METALLICA:[YT]uzlwg_vWYbA[/YT]

And just for fun, a montage of female action stars from the last 30 years or so with the song DEREZZED by DAFT PUNK from the TRON LEGACY soundtrack. Hopefully Gal's WW will be able to be ranked with these other bad ass females in the future:[YT]__yfj6F7AUg[/YT]
