Wonder Woman Script

If Batman isn't Batman because of some random Superman/Kal-El/Krypton event neither does wonder woman.

That would be extremely dumb if they decided to go that way

What you and I don't realize is that in MOS there is an ironclad statement that all of the DCU characters that could appear must have some connection to Krypton. It's there but you and I couldn't see it.:mag

Yeah because in a world where glasses can completely seal your identity magic can never exist ! Never! :p :o

People just don't want the magic weakness for Supes. :o

With that said, f*** Batman vs Superman, I want Superman vs Wonder Woman.:woot:

While I appreciate the concern behind your point, a Wonder Woman story without the Greek mythology imagery seems very strange... like having a Batman who has nothing to do with bats.
:osounds like arronfsky wrote this ww script then

Hey jd, can you answer more questions? Was the invisible plane in the script? If so what was its role? And how did Diana get out of the Island?

WW doesn't have to be directly connected to Superman. Maybe Superman's appearance and the battle with Zod cause heroes to emerge, or at least become more open about their activities, in the case of an older Batman for instance.

Superman's weakness isn't magic. It's just that magic works on Superman just like it does on anyone else. If Doctor Strange cast a sleeping spell on the JLA, Superman would fall asleep just as would Batman and the Flash. He isn't immune to magic, but nor is he especially weak. Said sleeping spell wouldn't be extra-effective on Superman.

There's a clear difference in being vulnerable to magic(like Superman and everybody else) and being weak against it.

And if it were written like that consistently it would be fine, but what we often get is fireballs burning Supes just because they're magical, not because they're insanely hot or something.

Ugh. I kind of hate the magic weakness. Its an artifact of the days when Superman was categorically invulnerable, and it tends to only get used so as to give him a dramatic bloody lip before he proceeds to beat someone who should crush him, magic weakness or no.

Not having a defense is not a weakness, and shouldn't be treated like one. And being really physically tough should not equate into a resistance to being transmuted into a frog or teleported to hell.

G'day,

The magic argument is silly. We are talking about a movie. There might be one movie with Supes in it every 2-3 years. Why would there have to be stories with magic in it for Superman? The magically Gods may be required for Wonder Woman, at least at first but they are certainly not required for JL or Superman solos. Also isn't there a mystical background for Aquaman? Magic is an essential part of the DC universe, if WB really wants to create the DC universe on screen (something I'm still not convinced is the case) then they will have to fit it in.

Not to mention Guillermo Del Toro's JLD movie, kind of hard NOT to bring in magic when John Constantine, Deadman, and Zatanna are on your team.

I just marathoned this thread, and it was hard to sell me on this script after the sentence "punctuated by the rape."

But the purpose of the fire is to burn, so, because Superman is vulnerable to magic, it hurts. Like when he is hit with Billy's lightning, it hurts because it's mystical.
