Work On 'Bond 23' Begins - The Official 007 Discussion Thread

wow I'm super psyched. That Kerli song posted at the beginning of the this page was really really good, I would have like it as the QOS theme. As for the next Bond film, I hope they return to the CR style film. Casino Royale stands as one of my favorite films of all time so QOS was a let down, what with the shakey camera, mindless action and somewhat weak story. I have high high hopes. The left the Bond franchise on a good note with the end of QOS. Q and Moneypenny for sure need to be added, though Q should be used with caution. If the gadgets get zany and bizarre they'll lose what made these new Bond's so great IMO. These new Bond films need to maintain realism and puttin a rocket launcher in your shoe is a bit impractical.

Kerli could do the movie's song this time :cwink:

IMO i think that the next Bond after Craig will probably be Cavill . That is IF he isn't going to star in another BIG franchise like say Superman

it won't be clive owen because he was passed on the role as bond. big mistake. his charisma and screen presence is lights years beyond craig's. i don't see clive bending over for scraps as a bond villain. plus, with him returning as is iconic "dwight" character in the next sin city, who cares about the bond franchise.

That is true . It will never happen because it would be too interesting.

Portishead would be another solid choice for the theme.

Radiohead, Muse, Michael Buble, Massive Attack or Portishead are my top choices to do the next theme song. Can't go wrong with any of those great artists IMO.

This film needs to be noirish like the older Connery films with a modern style, and the shakey camera action scenes need to go away. I think Alfonso Cuaron would be great pick to direct the next Bond film. The next film needs to bring back the mystery, romance, and fun with some great dramatic acting and emotion. Cuaron has it all. Reintroduce Moneypenny and Q and the film will be well on it's way to being a classic Bond film.

Bond 23 may be released in 2011 says producer Michael G. Wilson
Bond 23 - 28-05-09

Norwegian fansite jamesbond.no met briefly with James Bond producer Michael G. Wilson last week in London at the British Film Institute season celebrating the centenary of Cubby Broccoli.

Note: This is a translation from the original Norwegian report:

Q: We noticed that you have said to the press that work on the next film has started...
A: Hehe, yes, and it is basically all I can say now, too. We have started. That's about it.

Q: But when the movie comes, we must wait until 2011?
A: We can establish that, we need more time, and don't want to stress.

Q: Do you need more time because you are working on a remake of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"?
A: That's a project under consideration, thats right.

they can take their time, that's fine with me !

Portishead ftw.

They would be perfect for a new theme and coming off their newest album (P3) in 10 years they realistically can be up to it.

Is James Bond Bound For Afghanistan?

Report hints that the drugs trade may figure into 'Bond 23'

According to guardian.co.uk, James Bond may be headed to the Middle East for his next adventure.

The site reports that a former Foreign Office official from the British Embassy in Kabul was recruited by the 007 team to provide technical advice about the country’s lucrative opium trade.

The official has reportedly signed a confidentiality agreement that precludes them from discussing the project.

What might give this report extra credence is the fact that last year’s bestselling centenary novel, Sebastian Faulks’ Devil May Care, was concerned with the opium trade in Persia (now Iran). Bond producers had previously ruled out a Devil May Care adaptation.

Ian Fleming’s 007 short story “Risico”, from the For Your Eyes Only collection, also featured a plot involving the drugs trade.

Eon Productions refused to comment on the Afghanistan reports.

The drug trade in Afghanistan also featured prominently in 1987’s The Living Daylights, starring Timothy Dalton.

Not really feeling it to be honest. Something about the region just doesn't seem suitable for Bond's adventures to me.

Bond in Afghanistan? If that happens, Daniel Craig will have a bit of Slumdog Millionaire by his side.

Not really feeling it to be honest. Something about the region just doesn't seem suitable for Bond's adventures to me.

I could see it as another one of his missions at the beginning of the film.

Honestly, I kind of like the idea of it being in Afghanistan. It sets up an even more gritty, realistic, and violent atmosphere for the character. I definitely hope they go this route.

I wouldn't mind if it's in Afghanistan...If it's done right.

If it's TOO REALISTIC, then I don't know about it. The bottom line with me is this: I don't care if it's gritty or cheesy, make a good movie. That means they need to balance things out, do you know what I mean?

If it shouldn't be too cheesy with invisible cars, it shouldn't be to super realistic either. This is James Bond after all: a fantasy sci-fi action adventure. The characters have to be slightly larger than life but not flat out stupid.

And honestly, I agree with Crook. I don't know if people really want a Bond movie in the Middle East since it's happening right now. I think people want to...escape from it, even in the Bond universe. But if it's done right, then I'm okay with it.

It was a fine location in The Living Daylights !

anyway...

Paul Haggis tipped to be writing Bond 23 screenplay
Bond 23
- 11-06-09

The Observer is today speculating that Paul Haggis will be making it a hat-trick of James Bond films as he is 'likely' to be working on the screenplay for the 23rd adventure in the series - and Daniel Craig's third time out in the tuxedo.

The paper reports, "This week's French prison thriller Anything For Her is the latest foreign language film to be lined up for an American makeover. Director Paul Haggis, the man behind Crash and In The Valley of Elah, has secured the rights and, I understand, has offered the Diane Kruger part of the wrongly imprisoned woman to Charlize Theron. Haggis will write, direct and produce the remake of Anything For Her (French title Pour Elle - which clearly sounds too much like a bad perfume) and is tentatively calling it The Next Three Days. Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer. I hear that Haggis is also likely to feature as script writer on the next Bond movie, having assisted on the last two. No clues as to the next movie have come from the Broccoli camp just yet. Fresh from the close of BFI Southbank's two-month tribute to Cubby's films, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson will confirm nothing other than that Daniel Craig will still be 007."

Paul Haggis polished the script by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade for "Casino Royale", and also for "Quantum of Solace" just before the writers strike.

I don't mind if Bond goes to Afghanistan. The location is irrelevant to me. I just want a great Bond film and not something that Paul Greengrass would have directed.

I can already see the headlines. "The TaliBOND have their match!" Zing!

I hope it will be more like CR than QoS. I like QoS, but imo it didn't live up to its predecessor. I also hope Moneypenny and Q will be introduced; I don't think either one will compromise the new Bond's atmosphere.

I want a different setting this time around;

Would it be too much to ask to have the next Bond film set in a country covered in snow? I mean, another sunKissed setting might be great for topping up the cast and crews suntans, but I'd like to see something a little visually different from CR and QoS.

Morgan Freeman as Q
Christian Bale as Rouge Agent (villain)
Chris Nolan as director (the man is a bond fanboy)

Craig Vs. Bale.... BRITISH FIGHT!!!

I ****ing came. That would be so amazing. Also, why do I feel like Chris Nolan has said in the past that he's keen to work on a Bond film?

I hope there is a good payoff to all the Quantum set up.

I think taking a little extra time is good. Honestly, I feel they rushed Quantum of Solace and it showed.

same here. the move to Afghanistan could be interesting. I'd like to see that actually.
