World's Finest (2015): Casting the new Batman

Why not Michael C Hall? He'll be done with Dexter in time to film the movie.

Though he doesn't "look" like traditional comics Wayne, he has a strong screen presence and brings a level of intensity that most other actors lack; he also has a wonderful subtlety and nuance to his performances. They could dye his hair or just give us a ginger Wayne -- hey, they did it with Lois.

I would also be interested in Gosling. He would have an easier time with Wayne than with Batman, though. I think it'd be hard to believe he could threaten Supes.

Put Gosling through one of GymJones' programs like Cavill and he would likely be threatening enough. He had great intensity in Drive.

BB Casting

Billy Crudup, Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy, Joshua Jackson, Eion Bailey, Cillian Murphy, and Heath Ledger. Amy Adams served as the casting reader for the casting of Bruce Wayne/Batman in a favor to the casting director.

Director Nolan said of Bale, "He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for." Goyer stated that while some actors could play a great Bruce Wayne or a great Batman, Bale could portray both radically different personalities.Bale described the part as playing four characters: the raging Batman persona; the shallow playboy façade Bruce uses to ward off suspicion; the vengeful young man; and the older, angrier Bruce who is discovering his purpose in life.

I would rather see Michael C Hall as Lex, although he could do one or the other in my opinion.

I like the way he portraits his troubled dark side in Hannibal, perfect for Batman

I like Bomer as an actor in general, but he is just too boyish, petite, and playful to convincingly play someone like Superman or Batman to me. Even his Superman in Unbound was surprisingly snarky.

Too petite? Matt Bomer can bulk up muscle of course - not a problem. The boyish and playful side would be perfect attributes for Bruce Wayne, and if he's a good enough actor he'll play the direct opposite for Batman.

For me, it's not Gosling's physicality that compromises his intensity; I understand that he can easily get bigger. Frankly, Bale wasn't enormous in the latter two films, and I thought he was great.

Gosling was intense in Drive, yes. But it was a different flavor of intensity than that which I associate with Batman. I believe that Gosling could tap into the more intimidating, animalistic, rage monster that is The Batman (at times--think "Swear to me!", "Where is the trigger?", etc in TDKT), which is why I suggested him; but I have yet to see him do that in anything he's acted in, so I'm just being cautiously optimistic about him.

I don't see him as Lex. For Lex, I imagine someone older, more handsome, suave... physical, but reliant on his charisma--Clooney and Pitt come to mind for me. Though partially labeled with the "eye-candy" stereotype for women, I think those two actors can give powerful performances when properly scripted and directed.

That's another choice I forgot to mention. I'm only hesitant about Dancy, because I don't know how well he can portray the playboy side of Wayne.

Brandon Routh

...:cwink:

Why is it that none of the choices make me even half as excited as Christian Bale did when Batman Begins was announced? :csad:

Yeah, forget what I said, pick Matt!

Seeing two gorgeous guys who look like brothers isn't that bad :o

I wouldn't mind that at all. Don't they often look similar in the comics anyway?

Now I know how we'll solve the issue of no one suspecting Clark as Superman. Bruce will simply dress up as Clark when Clark acts as Superman. :awesome:

Ha, yeah, Bruce has dressed up as Superman and viceversa.

Ahh, now I want Bomer just to see that :hehe:

You guys do know Clark and Bruce sort of look alike, at least in the DCAU. :o

I like this guy:

Luke Evans

He would be a great Bruce/Bats to Henry's Supes. It may not matter but they've worked together before. I've seen him in action and his look is perfect imo. Plus the dude can act.

NO! Jake Gyllenhaal must be Batman in order to fulfill my prophecy of him commiting incest by association. :barf:

Bruce and Clark are both tall, muscle-bound guys with black hair and blue eyes; that's why they often look the same in the comics. Talented artists have been known to give them distinct features on occasion though.

Honestly, I haven't a clue who needs to be the new Bruce Wayne. But, he's gotta match with Cavill on screen. They have to somewhat favor each other is what I'm getting at.
