The Batman Reboot Casting Thread

[Man of Steel]

Most people(not including myself) enjoyed Christian Bale's Batman and want him for the Justice League movie(s). The truth is, Bale, unlike Ryan Reynolds and Brandon Routh, who are real comic book fans, only wants to make money and won't be in any movie where he is not one of the two main characters. Imagine what he would do if there were at least seven others! After Batman 3, Bale is out. He'll be away from Batman forever(not the Joel Schumacher movie, but the character). Now post your ideas on who should play Batman in a Justice League movie and/or reboot. My pick is Henry Cavill for a Nolan-ized Justice League/future sequels and Sam Witwer for a reboot.

Christian Bale is extremely selfish and stupid in that decision but you're right.

And LOL everyone says John Hamm should play everything, Ive heard him suggested for Punisher, The Thing, and now Batman xD

I can see Hamm as a DCAU or Alex Ross-style Batman, Punisher and Beast. That's about it.

That's a silly argument to make to put down Bale for not 'being a true fan' of Batman. Seriously.

Harrison Ford for the longest time had a chip on his shoulder when it came to Star Wars. It doesn't mean he didn't do a good job because he did because it defined his entire career. It's just irrlevent to know why an actor picks a certain role for whatever purpose. Unless they completely sucked (IE Edward Norton in The Italian Job. Phoned-in the entire performance).

Someone mentioned Sam Witwer for Bruce Wayne... I could get down with that. Even though he really doesn't resemble Bruce Wayne a whole lot, I think he could definitely pull off an awesome Batman. Still would like to see Bale as Batman in a JL movie, though. Especially if the movie happens soon.

Where has Bale said he doesn't want to do Batman anymore after Batman 3? News to me.

Bale has been a great bruce wayne/batman, i dont see what the hate is all about. Finally we got a actor sooo long after Keaton had gone that actually got into the character and the mythos and how the batman SHOULD be portrayed on the big screen. Without bale and nolan at the helm after batman 3 were gonna see what happened to the batman film franchise after batman returns until batman begins. So id really try and bring nolan and bale back.

you make it sound like nolan and bales interpretation of batman is the only good one possible in the foreseeable future, which isn't true, just because it's successful doesn't make it the be all end all of batman movies.

I think it's far too early to talk reboot. The next movie is two years away, and after that we should let Nolan's legendary series sink in a while before thinking reboot. Maybe even by then the Justice League movie will be getting close, and we'll see Batman again.

And screw a reboot for a while, Nightwing needs his shot. After the Nolan films are done, DC needs to give Nightwing a chance regardless of whether or not he shows up in Nolan's series or not.

The only thing Bale has said is that he'd continue to be Batman as long as Nolan is directing. Since Nolan has confirmed that Batman 3 will be his last Batman film, you can probably rule Bale out of future movies.

If Tom Hardy doesn't get cast in Batman 3 as someone, I think he'd be an awesome Batman. Charming, intimidating, and has a powerful screen presence. Maybe a tad short, but nothing a few inches couldn't fix like with RDJ.

i just hope we get a more noir-ish batman next. we've seen him done as german expressionism/ Avant-Gard, we've seen him in neon, and now we've seen him done realistically. so i'd like to see a neo-noir/ mystery type interpretation next. maybe done by michael mann or Joseph Dahl. i also really like the idea of sam witwer or adam baldwin as wayne/batman. gary oldman as jim gordon will be hard to top, idk, maybe alan ruck or some other great character actor (i just Alan Ruck for any role lol)
