Worst Cases of Miscasting

But she was a stripper and that's something that she's best at.

She was a stripper who didn't actually strip. Granted, she still looked sexy, but they could have cast someone who could actually act and was willing to take her clothes off.

Like Hayley Atwell.

Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

Not just mis-cast but seriously mis-directed. Should've been more along the lines of Rachel Weisz in The Mummy if you catch my drift...

maybe its been said here, i know it has been said everywhere, but hugh jackman as wolverine. his height was the reason. wolverine has the "short man" complex and is always first to jump into action to prove his worth and capability. also his shortness makes him seem less intimidating until he pops his claws, so he immediately throws himself into danger to prove otherwise. with jackman you got this huge guy looking for a fight and of course he would intimidate people. with the short wolverine you got this little guy standing up to everyone and it gives him more character. just seems without the "short man" complex you lose an important part of the wolverine character.

I never really saw Wolverine as having a Napoleon complex, but to each his own.

My only real issues with Goode were: 1. he looked too young (I gather that his experiments allowed him to retain his youth, but I still think they should have aged him at least a little bit and 2. they made it a bit too obvious that he was the antagonist. In the book, I wouldn't exactly say it was shocker that he was the bad guy... but you shouldn't be saying to yourself, "Oh, that guy is guilty as hell," after one scene.

So, really, these things aren't really Goode's fault, although you could venture that he was miscast simply for looking too young.

imo goode just looks like a natural villain was the problem

damn British people always villainous:oldrazz:

Agreed...that was one of the things that I liked about the character. Stephen Moyer would be a good replacement.

Agree.

He definately gets a lot of undeserved flack. Sure, he's been downright wooden in some films but for Haff to say that he's mis-cast in all of them is beyond harsh. I look at it this way - can anyone imagine Neo, Ted and Special Agent Johnny Utah being played by anyone else?

I know I cant.

Agreed about the flack he gets...but as I've said before in other threads, Brandon Lee would've owned as Neo.

let go back to this, obviously this comes down to personal taste but how is keaton different from kilmer and clooney in the role? all three were not extremely cut muscle wise or that tall. they looked about the same the only difference is keaton got into the role and knew how to work it while the other 2 didnt and were just cast for there pretty boy looks.

so if we go by your definition of miscast then anyone playing a race or gender other then there own are miscast? Im sorry but I cant agree there, to me when your miscast your miscast. here is a list of my miscast and tell me if you agree:

Hayden christensen - anakin skywalker
Sam jackson - mace windu (jackson is better suited for loud mouth cop or roles that require him to be a badass, not a jedi who has the energy of a snail)
michael clark duncan - kinpin
halle berry- cat woman
val kilmer- batman
george clooney - batman
chris oddonell - robin
ben affleck - jack ryan
timothy dalton - 007
harrison ford - air force one
ice cube -XXX
kirsten dunst - spiderman

please tell me how anyone of these are not a miscast based on this thread, all these have one thing in common, they dont fit the roles they were hired for hence a miscast.

Dalton was a great 007 after Moores funny films, and right ebfore Dalton took over Moore was 57. if anythign he was miscast in his last few films

I never really saw Wolverine as having a Napoleon complex, but to each his own.

I remember reading a 1995 hardcover book about the Marvel Universe where I believe it was even stated by Len Wein or Christ Claremont that Wolverine had to be so short because a tall guy with Wolverine' attitude and demeanor would just feel like a bully. So even from his creation Wolverine's shortness was considered to be important. Of course Hugh Jackman's Wolverine didn't have that problem of being a bully because he had the problem of being too damn nice. And I do see that being a problem with Wolverine being miscast because Wolverine acted more and more like Hugh over time.

By the third and fourth film yeah, he was too nice.

The first and second. It's Wolverine.

I disagree with the bold, especially Dalton and Kilmer. Kilmer was screwed over by his director, and Dalton's Bond was awesome but has the unfortunate distinction of his films being in the 80s.

That was my problem. It's as if they tranplanted 'X3' Wolverine into X-Men Origins. Should he be more feral?

Hayden Christensen AND Jake Lloyd as Anakin Skywalker

It only took 5 posts to get to the right answer. Awesome.

I think Lucas has brain damage or something. How could he think this guy:

Is remotely the same as this:

Or this:

And then Lucas made a character named Jar Jar Binks and cast:

Come on!

Or at least his fights would have a chance at being as cool at Hit Girl's fights from Kick Ass.

Good idea. Let's dig him up and cast him for the reboot.

ok ill give ya kilmer and dalton but what about jackson and oddonnell? jackson was clearly not meant for star wars and oddonnell never had the right beat for robin.

With any sam jackson movie unless hes able to hit someone, curse at someone, or be a badass with a badge then dont cast him.

with oddonnell he couldnt act his way out of a paper bag even if given a knife.

He did what he could with Mace Windu. It was because it was Sam Jackson I felt he was a badass. Otherwise I would've saw as just another dull jedi character.

And O'donnell could go either way. I felt he did fine playing a teen who wanted vengeance in BF. His acting in B&R on the other hand..........

It was atrocious.

What I hated about Mace Windu is that he hardly said or did anything interesting in the first two films, and then Lucas was like, "Oh, hey, I've got Sam Jackson in this movie! He needs to be a badass!" And that, of course, led to one of the all-time worst scenes in the Star Wars films, where Windu fights Palpatine.

Why did it suck? Well, first of all, if Palpatine was go damned powerful, he should have handed Windu's ass to him on a silver plate. But of course, since Samuel L. Jackson Is A Badass And Don't You Forget It, Windu had to win the fight and Palpatine had to resort to other methods to defeat him. And that of course, led to the other aspect of that scene that sucked so bad... Anakin, on a dime, turning into the most submissive b**ch in the universe. I'm surprised he didn't put on a gimp mask and let Palpatine lead him around on a chain.

God, I hate those f**king movies.

I never said Mace Windu was interesting character. I just feel that Jackson wasn't miscast and Jackson's presence alone kept him from being completely forgettable.
