Days of Future Past Worst moments in 'X-men: First Class'

Just a note on inconsistency, with the comics.

Emma Frost's Crystal form was a secondary ability added later in her characterization in the comics. It definitely was not at either point in time in Origins or First Class. It was after the Genosha masacre it happened.

That ability was given to her by Cassandra Nova or more Nova is able to activate
latent mutant abilities.

Worst part for me was when the credits started rolling. :(

Tell us how you really feel:whatever:

Nitpicks:

I thought Mystique shape shifting into Xaviers mom seemed ridiculous. I didn't buy that she could make herself any size/height.

Emma Frosts in crystallized form was kind of an eye sore. Didn't like that effect much
.

Yeah, I kind of scratched my head at that one. I know she can shape shift, but that was pretty tall for her little body.

So do you prefer the crystal in FC or in XMOW?

Magneto's costume at the end looked cheesy as hell. Even the helmut looked bad. I laughed. Even though the helmut was accurate with the little u at the center of the top it looked bad in live action. I almost expected to see a M on his belt buckle.

Why couldn't Xavier locate The sub with his telepathy when Riptide, Angel, and Azazel wasn't shielded. He could jump into the minds of the crew on the ships but couldn't do the same with the other mutants on the sub who where in the same vicinity?

:lmao: Yeah, I thought that. I guess they figured the other helmets in X1-3 received so much hate, that they would "give" fans what they wanted and try to go closer to the comics. However, they could have done better. They should have had whomever designed the Thor movie helmets design Magneto's.

A giant M LOL....Yeah, that outfit came out of nowhere, but reminded me of Shaw's and a super Hitler if you will, which ironically Magneto is very close to resembling.

Maybe he didn't scan for them, so he didn't know they were there. Or perhaps he was more focused on the action that was in front of him and couldn't fully concentrate on both things.

Still not sure how I feel about Xavier having a full range of his powers and at great distances. They made him really powerful.

I haven't thought about this one either, I can forgive that the Professor only saw Azazel twice (once in Moira's memories and once with the about to die crew member) and that teleporters are hard to find for him, he had no idea who Riptide was (who did?) and couldn't sense Shaw because of the helmet, but you're right, he could have at least tried to look for Angel.

I think it looked better in XMOW. It's a hard effect to pull off. The scene where Magneto breaks it was kinda cool though.

Maybe telepathy doesn't work underwater if he isn't there with them? Idk.

They were deep underwater and outside his range. They were flying right over the ship Azazel was on, so he was able to read him, but everyone else was too far underwater. I thought they mentioned this in the movie.

my main gripe is that for a movie called first class, i would have liked to see more with the first class. Sure I was against using this group for the X-Men, but the movie didnt really give me a chance to get to know them since this was really charles and Eriks story. The whole start of the movie was very choppy to me and began to really take flight when the training at the mansion started. I think that should have come more into focus since, while charles and Magneto's history has always been important to X-Men lore, the books are more about the students.

Yes and this was my main problem with the movie. It was a very good movie but I wouldve liked to see and hear more from the actual class

I didnt think the costume looked that that cheesy. It was just that it came out of nowhere. It just popped up. Erik breaks out Frost and next thing you know there he is with the costume

Well, he certainly wasn't going to show up wearing that X-Men suit or a trench coat...

Yeah, maybe the surprise is that he was such a sharp dresser through the whole thing, that seeing him like that at the end is out of character.

Yeah. I mean all the sudden he has a cape and wearing bright red colors. For me, even as a comic fan, it kidna threw me off

Why would he wear a cape though? I agree that while the costume was kinda cool in a nerdy way, it came out of nowhere and was too much of a leap from the last time we saw him on the beach. The batsuit or Iron man suit in the films, they took a while to evolve.

and yeah after seeing the movie again, I really hate Emma in this movie. Any time she speaks or goes into her diamond form. Other than that she looked great though. The friend I saw it with asked me why she got to have two powers.

I couldn't answer because I've never understood this one really. I hate it in the comics too.

:lmao: But come on, even Azazel was probably like "do we all have to wear that? or can I at least go naked like the blue chick that almost got me killed?"

:awesome:

Looking back it was kind of corny seeing all the mutants in the doorway like, "Surprise!" when they busted out Emma. Seemed like a Three stooges or Scooby Do moment lol.

Yeah, so my question about mystique is does she use her morphing to cover up her lady parts or are they naturally covered by the scales on her body? In other words does she have nipples and a vajayjay or are they permanently sealed over?

January Jones Im starting to think is not that good of an actress or at least Im starting to not like her as an actress. Ive seen every episode of Mad Men and FC and idk she always seems bored to me

Tell your friend that some mutants have two, three, or quadruple powers. And then there are some that have none. Just cause always works.

Yeah the cape came out of left field, but I guess they figured they would give the fan boys what they had been asking for. If they didn't do it then people would be griping how he didn't wear anything remotely close to his comic suit. They did it to please the viewer, but the half assed it IMO.

Another thing. Not a gripe about the movie, but was I the only one who wished Magento didn't go completely bad at the end. I wouldve loved to see Erki and Xavier's relationship build over at least another movie before he went off on his own

It was his "coming out" scene, he embraced his choice. And, of course, a major nod to the comic books.

I really don't know what would make people on here happy. If it ain't like the comics, you ****** and moan all day and all night for years; if it is like the comics, you ****** and moan all day and all night for years.

You got Beast, but the look is ripped apart, You got Emma Frost, but the diamond look is ripped apart. God knows how the look of Warren Worthington's Angel and fully-frosted Iceman would be received if we ever did get the Original Five... I can see it now: "the ice look didn't work, why did his clothes turn to ice as well", "the bird wings didn't work, he looked like he was on wires, how does he fit them under his clothes."

Christ on a bike.... It's like a convention of the Never Satisfied Society....:cmad:
