The top 10 worst special effects according to Empire May issue:
10. King Kong (1976)
9. The Mummy Returns
8. Slugs
7. Escape from L.A.
6. The Lost World (1960)
5. Predator
4. The Abyss
3. A Nightmare on Elm Street
2. Alien Resurrection
1. Plan 9 From Outer Space

Who do you guys think about this list? I hardly agree with any of this except number one. What are some other movies with terrible special effects?

5. Predator
4. The Abyss

WTF why are they on the list. They have really good FX.

Predator's effects are great. the predator looks like a real, living think in that movie.
that list sucks, there are plently worse special effects in movies, and the leap between the rest of them and Plan 9 is ridiculous.

4. The Abyss

Yeah, I don't know what they were smoking when they wrote that. The only thing they said was bad about the Abyss was when the alien ship comes out of the water.:whatever:

Strange list. Didn't The Abyss win an Oscar for the special effects? What that movie is doing on this list is beyond me.

They can't be serious. ****ing PREDATOR?

Stupid asses.

the only one i agree with on there is Escape from L.A. they need to throw in UltraViolet and Resident Evil.

ultraviolet for sure belongs on that list.

i thought alien ressurection had great special effects/cgi. i wonder where they pulled that list from.

How could they not include "Jason X"???

Stupid list. The brothers Grim should easily be up there.

Catwoman should've definitely been up there...

Why Catwoman? I saw nothing wrong aside from diverting so far from source material.

How could they not include "Jason X"???

The making of Jason X is so sad, because the guys that did the effects look like they are pretty cool dudes who I'd like to get a beer with.

Well I'm sure they've had a lot more free time to go out and get beers sine the release of that abomination...

Well some of them are from the 70/60s! if you comapre them to todays films they are going to look ****.

Abyss what the hell. it paved the way for terminator 2 and that was freaking amazing!

I think they are confusing worst effects with dated effects :whatever:

The top 10 worst special effects according to Empire May issue:
10. King Kong (1976)- nope. nah...i cant do it. That robot monkey was awesome!
9. The Mummy Returns-yeah OK.
8. Slugs-never saw it.
7. Escape from L.A.- nope wrong.
6. The Lost World (1960)- never saw it.
5. Predator- go stab yourself you dum magazine.
4. The Abyss-James cameron man...can't hate.
3. A Nightmare on Elm Street- WTF? noooooo they did'ent!
2. Alien Resurrection-Stop wasting my time you dummy.
1. Plan 9 From Outer Space- it was bad..really bad. But I can't hate on Ed Wood.

list is garbage yo, give it to oscar. :grr:

the list is ******ed.

I was about to post exactly the same thing.
I think, compared to other Empire Lists, this one is quite a poor idea, because effects that were great in the 40's will look awful now, even if they were really innovative at the time, which the Abyss definatly was.

Like everyone else, i'm in ****ing awe that Predator made that list. It's effects hold up even to today, which says alot considering the F/X of the 21st century.

If anthing Clash of the Titans (which i love btw) and the old Sinbad movies of the 70's should be on that list.

this list is a f***in joke. Empire should know better.
