No, because the general public is the majority of the box office. if the movie looks epic and is well promoted they will see it. It will turn some people away, but also pull in and make new fans

I would like them to get a new cast and sign them to three movies, reboot SM3 and make SM3 and SM4 back to back.

And kinda follow how the new spidey cartoon (Spectacular Spider-Man) has done the story of the symbiote and how they use multiple villains.

^
This show has given us a better Sandman than what we got from movie Sandman. And they did this without Sandman being created corny, without him being responsible in killing Uncle Ben and without him being 80 feet tall.

And it would be cool to have black spidey be unconscious somewhere in the movie when he fights the villains, just like on the cartoon how the symbiote was basically fighting.

Oh dear God yes.

A reboot now? After just a few years? Seriously?

Blowing up the established line so quickly would tarnish everything that's been done, and be a slap in the face to the fans. Everyone's all keen on reboots now... But the Batman one (and the coming Hulk one) only worked/will work because of how utterly atrocious the preceding films were.

Spidey doesn't have that problem.

If they rebooted I'd refuse to pay to see it.

WTF, you've been drinking again I see, eh? Just stick to watching your damn Saturday morning cartoons. Last thing I want to see is more gooey chewy ass symbiotes in this film again. Reboot an etire film that made almost 900M bucks because you don't like it, sometimes, I think that you people are half-baked ******ed. :o

Dear God,
Why the Hell will you not stop this Spiderman stuff? What are you so busy with you will not strike down those who loved the atrocity that was Spiderman 3 or say things like "reboot" whenever a comic book movie sucks? Your killing US!!!! I mean seriously do we really need 6 Spiderman movies anyway??? How many times can you rehash a love story in the form of a comic book movie and label it as Spiderman? Your really letting us down lately, I hope you get off the sauce and back on the ball otherwise we may have to let the devil do his work.

A reboot in either sense, would devestate this franchise. Reboots should be reserved for films that do not make a lasting impact (financial failure, or generally unpopular even if profitable).

1)Total Reboot: The first two Spider-Man films sit in the top ten highest grossing films of all time. Such an achievement is only shared by one other franchise (Star Wars). A total reboot would ultimately lead to fan confusion who will wonder why the actors were replaced or why the story was redone.

2)Actor Reboot: Replacing the actors has worked for James Bond films. Showing even younger iterations of characters in a franchise, has also led to success with franchises that show different actors in established role. Where has this failed however? Super hero films. Replacing Keaton as Batman ultimately led to a series of failures. While some actors have to be replaced (their passing from this life)...there is no need to switch actors unless something has been done drastically wrong. I don't think Spider-Man has reached that point yet.

Well now, there is a need to switch actor(s), if the actor(s) doesn't want to come back and have moved on to other projects.

If not reboot and if Raimi stays, then he needs to reboot some of his ideas for the fourth movie.Like:
-Spidey staying masked.
-MJ doesn't get taken as a hostage.
-Villains that aren't connected to Peter.
-No love realationship stuff.
-No Aunt May long speeches.

to name a few...

Maybe a reboot is a good idea, and maybe it's not, but patience is required with this particular series. It hasn't done that bad, so it'll take a while before a reboot may even be thought of. Your ideas are good, but there are a lot of ideas going around that are good too, without having to resort to something drastic.

Those are all parts of the SM movie formula, which can and SHOULD be changed as it was wearing thin in the final act of SM3.

With that said you cannot honestly believe there should be no relationship stuff? I support more mature dialogue and problems for Peter/MJ to overcome (SM3 was more realistic in that regard, but made them both look petty, selfish and bitter--with immature dialogue). I don't want anymore love triangles.

But we don't need a straight "action-ONLY!" movie. I also think Aunt May's scenes other than the overlylong speech in the backyard in SM2 have always worked well, if predictable. I'd take Raimi/Harris's Aunt May over the one in the comics or Ultimate anyday.

I agree with these three, except if Connors/The Lizard is the main villain. But the secondary villain (hopefully Kraven The Hunter) should have no connection to Connors or Peter Parker.

Agreed.

Overall, it depends on the publics viewing, if it looks like a pile of dog-crap, it'll probably make about $150-200 million. If it looks great and it has so much marketing, it will be on par with 'Spider-Man 3'.

No need for a reboot, unless of course the fourth installment involves 'nipple suits'?

The last time i checked, Spiderman 3 kicked ass at the box office. Now i dont think the series needs a reboot. I think they just need to rethink how they handle the characters.

Would a reboot hurt box office numbers. It all depends. I doubt the general public wants to see spiderman 3 remake in spiderman 4. If they get a new cast they may as well drop the 4. I dont think a reboot would hurt as long as it reatins the flare of the series. Though if casting revolves around bring in teen idols then we may have a problem. If its handled the batman begins and iron man way(bringing in real actors) then it could do well.

I think the Spiderman brand is gonna make money with or with out Macguire, Dunst and Raimi. Look at the Batman and Bond films in general . I do think a reboot now would be too soon though.

I think we're long overdue for a new cast.

I know i'm ready that is. I've grown pretty very bored of Tobey Maguire especially.

A reboot would be a good thing now, I think this franchise can survive it easily. It would freshen things up nicely.

And it is Spider-Man he is very poplaur so over all the franchise will get more money from it

I think If the product is good they will. Look at Daniel Craig and CR and he replaced a popular Bond actor.

IMO it's really those who grew up with Macguire as Spidey who would have the hardest time excepting someone new. You picture one actor in the role and it's hard to except someone else in the same part.

I guess as someone who's been through 4 actors as Batman(Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale) and Superman(Reeve, Cain, Welling if U count him, Routh) plus 4 as Bond (Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig) , i'm more willing to except as a recast.

Yes it probably would but Marvel studios is doing a hell of a job with their franchises...let Spidey go back to its papa.
