Would you kill baby Hitler?

This is why Obama is president. As a science fiction nerd, he would understand the concept of temporal paradox, and refute the question in those terms.

He said, and I quote, "Hell yeah. You gotta step p, man". And then later added, citing the "Michael Fox movies": "It could have a dangerous effect on everything else, but I'd do it -- I mean, Hitler,".

Well as weird as this sounds i'd raise the kid to be a good person, a little guidance does no harm i say.

No. I'd give him over to be raised by a gay couple in a gypsy caravan.

Id pay for him to take art classes.:o

Without WW2, who invents nukes?

Would fascism gain popularity in a far more persistent and dangerous form?

Would America recover from the Great Depression fully?

Without the holocaust, is racism still pushed to the fringes of American society?

Hitler must live.

To paraphrase a New Yorker cartoon I saw today, the better followup question is whether he'd convince Hitler's mother to have an abortion before he was born.

No.

Messing with history like that is a sticky situation.

On the surface, Hitler being deleted out of existence might sound like a good thing. But Hitler was probably one of, arguably the most influential person of the 20th century with the things he directly or indirectly set in motion, and erasing him wouldn't be as simple as erasing the bad things he did, it would also erase or alter all the ripple effects in ways we can't possibly foresee or anticipate.

If Hitler didn't start WWII, would technology have surged forward? Would America have pulled itself out of the Great Depression? Would the state of Israel exist? If it didn't, what would the Middle East look like? Maybe more stable, maybe not.

What would have happened in Germany without Hitler?

There's no way to know all the things you're going to change when you start screwing around with history, especially someone as important and influential in the last century as Adolf Hitler. It's too much of a can of worms.

The smart answer would be "I'd never kill a baby. What's wrong with you people?"

What if my trying to kill him as a baby causes him to become the man that he becomes? I can't have the entire Holocaust on my conscience...

We're talking Terminator level of time ****ery here.

Good points.

Little did historians know, Hitler's persecution of homosexuals was triggered by a subconscious childhood memory of a flaming homosexual time traveler, known only as "Sawyer", who attempted to strangle him with a feather boa in Hitler's infancy, only to be fended off and ultimately fall to his death from a window in a struggle with the Hitler family's Parakeet, "Hildegard".

So who was this "Sawyer's" companion? I See Spidey? LiLo?

This.

This "would you kill baby Hitler" question reminded me of the Family Guy episode where Stewie and Brian went back in time to stop 9-11 and yea.

I feel like the right thing to do is yea kill Hitler. I mean looking at his future, yea. But killing him, what happens now? If Hitler didn't rise to power, who did? What other problems would we have?

There's too many uncertainties to say yes. It's the right thing to do but looking ahead, it's at the same time not the right thing to do because what other else could have happened if WWII didn't happen and Hitler wasn't born?

Assuming you want to remove Hitler from history as some do, wouldn't the more humane thing be kidnapping him and dumping him in an orphanage? Or set up an art school fund for him?

And then just to be safe, tell that Henry Tandey guy to shoot him this time.

I'd like to purchase the film rights to this story for $8.2 million.

Too late, it was acquired a few years ago. It went through a few rewrites, was translated into another language, and most audiences now know it as Blue Is The Warmest Colour.

I was appalled by the changes, and had my name removed from the credits.

Hey hey hey!!! :argh:

It was a fuchsia colored ascot, not a feather boa. :o

I would have preferred it with your original casting preferences, but too bad Judi Dench and Maggie Smith were unavailable.
