(I understand that this isn't directly tied to X-Men: The Last Stand, but it does deal with my journey following this movie, and my journey with all of you all, therefore I feel it belongs here, as it pertains to this particular community)

I can't believe the movie is out on DVD already! I still remember the rumors; would Gambit be in it, who was gonna play Angel, the script review, would Cyclops really make it through to the end?

It's been a long, long, journey, and it feels like just weeks ago we were debating the issue of the runtime over this movie. And now, everything about this movie has been settled, and it's out on DVD. Some of us have it already, the others will be following along soon.

I've never followed a movie's production online before. Hell, with X2, I barely knew it was coming out until I saw the first trailers. I mean, yea, I knew it was being made. But I didn't know when it'd be coming out or anything.

I'd loosely followed the storylines revolving around X-Men: The Last Stand as soon as I saw that Phoenix silouette at the end of X2. It got to a point I was checking xmenfilms.net daily for any news I could find. And soon that wasn't enough. I eventually found my way to the hype boards, where I lurked for about a week, until I couldn't hold my tongue any longer towards Herr Logan and his arguements regarding the costumes, and how the comic costumes should have been used. The rest, as they say, is history.

I've made a few friends (and apparantly an enemy or 2, as liking this movie seems to do that to ya...), and we all stuck together, side by side, through the good times and bad. It was a tough battle sometimes, with all the bombs flying towards us; Cyclops' death, Xavier's death, Rogue's curing, but somebody had to stick it out and remain optimistic. And god damnit, these are the X-Men, these are MY X-Men! Scott wouldn't give up on Jean, and I damn well ain't giving up on my X-Men!

Well, some harsh beatings we were served for sticking through it. The "lies" from the writers hurting the most, after they filled us with optimism.

Some took the reality of the situation, and embraced it, and enjoyed what we got. For others, it was too much to handle. But whatever side of the fence you're on, for all of us, it was a journey. We stuck through this together. We all have the same goals in mind, and we all stuck it out until the very end.

And it's hard to believe that the "very end" has finally come to pass. There was a time when May 26th, 2006 was an eternity away. And now May 26th is in the not too distant past. There was a time when it felt like the world would blow up before October 3rd, 2006 arrived. And now that day is upon us.

We can never watch X2, and feel anticipation for that ending again. There's no more "Holy crap, I can't wait to see what they are gonna do next!" No more "I wonder what will happen with Pyro". No more "I can't wait to see Phoenix!"

You know, I've seen the arguement (and I've been a part of it) that "it's just a movie, get over it"... and while there is some truth behind that, the other truth is that no movie, EVER, has meant as much to me as these 3 movies. Sure, as much as I love X-Men (and I damn well do, the X-Men universe is my favorite fictional universe, these being my favorite fictional characters), there are better movies out there. But damnit, none of them mean as much to me as these movies.

And you know what? I've had a DAMNED good time sharing that passion with you all. We may not all always agree, and we may not even all always get along... but damnit it's been fun agreeing and disagreeing, debating, and sharing with you all. And fighting in the trenches with you all.

The past year and a half has been a crazy one, and I'm glad I was able to share it with you all. And as long as that passion, and fire, is still there, then I'm going to enjoy the rest of my time here with you all as well.

For :cyclops: , for :wolverine , and for EVERYTHING :xmen:

And the sentinal speculation... And so much more... Memories of joy and pain. And now, we shall ponder yonder untill the Blue-Ray DVD comes out.

I've not been on the X-boards that much in the last couple of months but following X3 with everyone here added a hell of a lot to the experience.

You're rite, and this thread has a meaning to it. Ima gonna make a thread for all contents of the XDVD. For thoose who needs help

Is that how long Fox has the rights? I can't believe Avi Arad would give the property rights of any Marvel comic to a company for 20 years. What a moron. I'm with your cause unless Tom Rothman is fired before then and is replaced by someone who cares about X-Men.

they were supposed to have rites for 25 yrs, but cuz they bought it at 1995...

same with me. I knew X2 was coming, but my english wasnt that good and i didnt follow the news in Brazil, so i went to the movies not even knowing the main plot of the movie. I guess it helped to the experience i had, since i had a surprise in each 5 minutes. The firebird silluoete was the turnover. After i saw that, i became obssessed, not because Jean is my favorite character, but because i knew i was about to see one of the best movies ever.

and thats where i become angry. I waited 3 years, biting nails, following every bit of news, everything related to the movie, the first posters, the wish of seeing Rogue smashing a Sentinel, Phoenix in a perfect pose, Beast looking great, Storm looking like Storm. The absolutely amazing second trailer, which almost made me cry. And then i watch the movie. All hopes go down. It's not even 1/10 of what i ever thought it would be. It's not even near to be my favorite movie ever. That firebird, that 3 years ago made me shudder and get out of the cinema with a huge smile and sense of hope, was gone. Mostly all of the characters are wrong, with the exception of the new ones. Not even the special effects are up to what should have been.

I admit, it was too much. I couldnt hold it.

Once again, same here. I love these movies, even with the flaws of the third. They are a part of my heart. I've never waited and rooted so much for anything like this in my life.

^I hear you min. Great expectations fleeeew away...

Nice 'farewell' Nell, although you should wait until we all get our DVDs or rent them. :) (I get it in Novemba rargh)

It has been a looooong, bumpy ride--riddled with rumors, lies, stolen production photo wars, etc. There were some good times, but there was a lot of cattiness on this board this go around and a lot of bitter fueding. I've never seen so many people literally rejoice over petty, stupid stuff like which character threads got more hits, or the death of certain characters. It was a federal crime to voice both praise and damnatiion of this film here....so I dunno...it just wasn't as fun this go 'round for me. I'm glad it's over.

I hope that if there is an X4, and we're all still around, that we'll look back on this experience and improve our communications and comradiere next time. As I've said countless times over the last year, we are all FANS, not enemies. :hyper:

We are fans, unite ^^. With Lighting as our necleus, forming to be a better board!

And i remember the sentinal predictions the best ^.^

I have a feeling a lot of others are with me as well, what a total dissapointment this whole thing was.

This has definitely been an experience Nell! I've never followed a movie's production so closely but I've really enjoyed being part of this community and communicating with fellow fans!
Having said that, it's the last time I'll vere follow a movie so closely. The level of hype and fact that I knew pretty much everything going into the movie did have an effect on my enjoyment of the film. However, having had a few months rest, watching X3 on DVD has reignited my excitement and enjoyment of the movie and it's great to complete my collection of one of, if not THE best comic book trilogies out there!

This film was the first and the last time that I will ever follow the production of a high profile film. I can't help but think that all the hype threw our expectations higher than they ever should have gone, and maybe if I hadn't been so thoroughly spoiled for the film I might've enjoyed it more. But yeah, we've been through the gauntlet since X2's release and when the first news started to come out for X3. Those were good days: Singer was coming back, it wasn't called "The Last Stand", the Phoenix Saga was gonna be two movies...I know I was optimistic until about three months ago, and I got a lot flak for it. I still think it's a decent movie. It's certainly not an abomination, at any rate. But disappointing? Yeah, I can see that. I agree with Lightning--I'm glad the whole thing is over. Like I said, I'll never do it again.

Oh, don't worry, this isn't a "farewell" speech... I'm not going anywhere!

I still have a fan-fic to write, and you all have to read it! (*cough* check the sig *cough* :p)

now stop this im going to cry cause imma a big sentiment...

it still seems like yesterday when the rumours were going around...then the trailer and now the DVD

i pray for all those moments again...the least fox could do is give us a X4 so we can do all that all over again.

I followed alot of comic movies in my 4 years on the hype...and nothing was more anticiapted, and nothing was more disappointing than X-Men 3.

I came to the boards everyday, hoping that, despite the fact singer and his writers were gone, that we'd get a film that was truly epic and smart like the singer films. I hoped the hype would be like X2, with all fans rallying in anticipation.

I was wrong.

What I saw was a film that was rushed, with a team of writers that lied to the fans that supported them so. I saw people spew venom just because fans were *gasp* angry that certain characters who deserved their due were screwed over to feed the wolverine/storm machine. Ultimately, the X3 experience was one of the nastiest I've seen during my SHH tenure, and never has a movie disappointed me more than X3.

My following of X3 consisted mostly of great anticipation. In the months approaching the release date, I began to have some skepticism, and began to worry that I might hate it. Ultimately, I was happy with the third. I might get the DVD.

I actually had that same feeling...although, I said I wasn't going to buy it, but I got tempted anyway. I work at a drug store and yes, we sell some movies too, and I got to set up the display which the dvds are displayed...hmmHmmm...yeah. oui...the only reason is that I wanted to watch it in French. Im going to France next year and I'd like to Learn to speak french more.

Its actually interesting in french...

I joined here in early November and this is the first movie that I ever followed so closely. I read script reviews, spoiler set reports, viewed stolen photos, etc. etc.

And when I hear people say "I'll never do this again!", I can't help but to completely disagree with them.

I loved every minute of this. From its many ups and downs and all of the speculation, I think that this experience made was so interesting and exciting. Everyday new threads would emerge with rumours and theories. I loved it all.

Can't wait for X4:cwink:
