McCool is not responsible for the state of the women's division

Yes, she is

It's not her fault there's nobody on the roster worth watching.

It IS her fault that there ARE ones worth watching (Gail, Beth, Nattie, Tamina) that are stuck on Superstars because she uses her husbands influence to stay in the title picture. So funny how when Taker took more time off after his last match with Kane, McCool was taken out of the Divas title picture. huh. :cwink:

Not to mention the fact that McCool doesn't like Kaitlyn so she has not been used

Kaitlyn may not be anything special besides looking at but I thought with some work she could have some potential...I especially loved the fact that she was using the spear

Regarding "Action Soap Opera"

Check the ratings...how are soap operas doing? Oh, they're all being canceled because no one watches them? They are considered old, past their prime and completely uncool?

Oh, I can see why WWE would want that kind of rub...

Exactly. On what planet would this idea make sense? Most wrestling fans are guys who wouldn't be caught dead watching a soap opera.

I was raised by a single mom and grew up watching soaps

you got a problem with that?

does that offend your manly sensibilities?

I don't have a problem with it at all, though I don't particularly care for soap operas. It just doesn't make sense considering the tastes of most wrestling fans. It's the same reason action figures are called figures and not dolls.

The soap opera analogy has always been valid, and you're in denial if you say otherwise.

The problem is that not even today's mom's are watching soaps...NO ONE is watching them. It's not like calling WWE a soap opera is going to bring in women viewers because women don't watch soap operas either.

Good tag team match last night on SD, I think Orton being back on the blue brand will be good for him...I liked his "I'm back" when walking down the ramp and Cara's move should do him well. I'm just wondering what the ME scene will look like now, obviously a lot of guys are going to be elevated and Sheamus and Wade will be back in the title hunt.

Also happy Kidd got drafted...Kidd/Bryan for the IC title. There's hope!

so Cody Rhodes in a mask, pretending to be disfigured, and R-Truth turning on his friend and the audience are NOT soap opera elements?

Eric Young is some weird damn anomaly. I should hate him but somehow he takes sh** and turns it into gold with some sh** smeared on it. He makes me laugh. Naming those two horses "Sid" and "Mongo" LOL.

I'll even admit Orlando Jordan made me laugh when he told Ken Anderson "I love your a**hole thing." I think I did a double take.

PLEASE don't screw this up, WWE. If the kids half as good as his old man...

It's TIME! It's TIME! It's Vader TIME time TIME time time...:awesome:

Vader was the man. He and Rikishi are my favorite big men ever because matches didn't have to change for them. They were ultra athletic, and could pull off moves that some smaller guys couldn't even do. Hopefully Vader's son has some of that athleticism.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is definitely a character that wouldn't work in this day and age. Sponsors would claim the company's promoting alcoholic drinking, even underage drinking.

Stone Cold would work because he's Stone Cold. He's a once in a lifetime talent that could be great in any era. Sponsors would complain at first, but his act is so popular that it would change the face of the company like it did back in the Attitude Era. He would bring in the same audience that rose the tv ratings, and then the WWE wouldn't have to worry about being PG. The real reason they're PG now is because their casuals left after the Attitude days just like with any era, and they've gotten so much competition from other outlets that they're tapping into a younger market earlier. If there was a Stone Cold, Rock, or a Hogan, then they wouldn't have to do that. They wouldn't restrict talent like that who could draw flocks of people.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. It seems like you're agreeing with me in an argumentative fashion.

If I grow a mustache, I'm not going to tell people..."hey guys, I grew a mustache...like Hitler". No, because while Hitler DID have a mustache, no one would be impressed by the comparison and think of me in a better light.

Officially calling WWE a soap opera just makes everyone except 60 year old women cringe.

People who cringe deserve to be hit, as that's the only reason to cringe.

Personally, I don't think wrestling has enough in common with the typical soap opera to deserve the name. It has the same melodramatic storylines and plot twists, sure, but I think that's more related to bad writing. All in all, the wrestling aspect should still be front and center, which is why I don't like this re-classifying.

Remember a few weeks ago when Swagger lost a match and they camera was right up in there for his shocked face? Maybe that was them trying to be more like a soap opera, with the dramatic close ups.

The wrestling aspect is part of what makes the "male soap opera" thing work. The promos and plot twists are the same as the cattiness and... plot twists of soaps, but instead of sleeping around on each other, John Cena and Randy Orton beat each other up.

And in my (unpopular) opinion, the wrestling aspect needs the stories more than vice-versa.

The dramatic close up isn't a soap only thing, and WWF/E has been using it for years.

I know, I was just having some fun. Swaggers face would have gone so perfectly with that dun dun dun music some of them have.

It's not her there's nobody on the roster worth watching.

I'm not going to say she intentionally politicked her way to the top using her husbands clout in WWE as leverage because maybe she didn't. I really doubt she out right demanded to be in the top spot.

But I can blame WWE for pushing her there to keep Taker happy when the show as a whole simply didn't benefit from it. It was their call when she did nothing to deserve that spot. She's not a great worker, she's not a draw (even by Diva standards) she hardly gets a reaction...so there's no valid business reason for her to constantly get pushed. And with her gone (for now) it at least forces WWE to give all the other women a fair shot. Before many of them jobbed at McCools expense or she constantly found herself back in the Diva title mix.

Thats another problem I have. If McCool was the one complaining about Kaitlyn...she should shut her mouth. What dues has McCool paid? Besides becoming an expert at the tombstone position?

Kaitlyns got ten times the personality and mic skills of McCool and thats what counts more than anything in WWE.

In Vince McMahon's warped mind even soap operas are seen as more legitimate and more mainstream than WWE and he wants that mainstream recognition so he uses soaps as an example that he thinks everyone are familiar with. But hes so old and so out of touch with the world outside of WWE he doesn't realize soap operas are passe. Thats why he keeps comparing WWE to soaps.

Intersting viewpoint. I'm not sure if I agree or disagree. I mean, they have a new Hogan in John Cena, but the problem is while the kids love him, the Attitude Era leftover fans don't and that's why he gets a mixed reaction. It doesn't work like it did in the 80s.

I do agree with the reasons for why they've gone PG.
