You're right, Metallo, I like the character, and I happen to think that McCool (and Layla) are the only characters in the women's division that have anything resembling something halfway entertaining.

Layla entertained me...McCool was standing next to her at the time.

Yeah but Nell you might like it but most people went to take a piss when Laycool came out. How does that help WWE? Laycool might have had characters but they sucked a**.

Laylas hot...and she's becoming better worker than McCool...and she's getting better on the mic. Laylas promo on Smackdown didn't sound as bad as McCools.

Even with a character most people just didn't give a f*** about Laycool despite WWE ramming them down our throats. If WWE put HALF that efffort into some of the true talents on the womens roster they might actually get over

Kharma will be more over than LayCool within 10 seconds. If handled right...an eventual Kharma/Beth Phoenix staredown will get the biggest Diva pop since a certain Mickie James/Trish Stratus incident.

Okay, but you're talking about me specifically when you talk about McCool's character, and then proceed to tell me how important character is to me.

So I'm responding and telling you that LayCool is about the only thing that catches *MY* attention in the diva's division. Other than the Bella Twins legs.

All a heel McCool could garner from the crowd, before Layla came along, was X-Pac heat. Layla was by far the better performer of the duo, yet in bizarro world (i.e. the "WWE Universe") McCool is seen as some sort of leader in the locker room for women. I mean wtf has she done to have gotten this spot?

No I'm talking about how you say character is a big part of the business (which it is) and the audience in general not just how much YOU alone like character. And most people don't give a f*** about McCools character.

You might like her character but a TON of people seem not to and just change the channel or get up and take a piss. Most people want to just see Laycool go away. How does keeping them at the top benefit WWE at all when people just tune out whenever they appear?

Kaitlyn DOES have a character but the rumor is McCool is one of the women who holds her down because Kaitlyn hasn't paid enough dues. If thats true how is that not McCools fault?

Like I said McCool is the Jeff Jarrett of the Divas division. Most people don't seem to want to see her lose or get beaten up. Most people just want her to go the hell away or are completely apathetic towards her. Its X Pac heat.

So many people on this thread never agree on anything but a large number of people seem to be happy McCool is just going away. Its like that on a lot of sites.

And unlike the Knockouts Laycool can't even claim to spike ratings up in most of the segments they are in so it seems like the tv audience as a whole don't give much of a damn about them either.

Laycool only made a bad divas division worse.

Fans using Divas matches are bathroom breaks isn't exactly a new thing. People were doing that even during the Trish/Molly/Victoria/Jazz/Gail era.

But it was fewer people...and these days every viewer helps.

And you can't tell me that divas matches didn't use to get more crowd responses than they get today.

Nobody ever said womens wrestling could be a major draw. But it can, and used too be, a supplement to the overall show. Now the Divas division isn't even that.

And putting a black hole of charisma like McCool on top didn't help. She's dull as dishwater and yet she continued to get pushed.

This.

Like I said, women's wrestling has absolutely no appeal to me what so ever, except to watch some eye candy strutting down the entrance ramp and doing a very visually stimulating entrance. After that? Fast forward time.

McCool seems...uninterested...in everything she does. Peope can't get behind that either way. Kelly Kelly at least SEEMS like the sweet good girl that you would hate to see get knocked around the set. Someone like Kharma or Beth Phoenix can be this ultra intimidating monster...and even Melina can come off as an absolute...um...witch...that you want to see get what she's due...McCool just comes off as bored and above it all. Even her egotistical gimmick comes off as insincere...something in her eyes just seems to be elsewhere...

MORE people used to enjoy it than they do now because the divas division offered something pretty entertaining.

Nobody said EVERYONE used to love the divas...but MORE people used to. Watch a divas match from 2004 vs now and seriously tell me its the same crowd reaction.

Shes got a dull personality and most of her promos have that same f***in monotone delivery. When she talks her inflection never seems to change. She did the same thing on the last Smackdown. Thats why I said Layla cuts a better promo these days. At least there is some diversity in her talking.

Thats why I always say McCool is a good athlete but she doesn't grasp the gaga part of WWE. She's not a great worker or a true performer when it comes to the character aspect. That switch doesn't flip on.

The main problem with the Diva's division right now is that only a couple of the women can actually wrestler and most of them have no unique personalities.

Back in the early 2000's EVERY diva had a distinct ring style and personality.

But yeah it wasn't AS bad as it is now mostly because the quality of work the women were doing won people over. Trish and Molly in particular were a joy to watch.

yeah...listening to her talk, it's like an endless drone...like that "Bueller Bueller" teacher guy...I forget his name...but after a few sentences she just puts me in a trance of boredom...definitely "bathroom break" material.

A big problem is lack of properly developed ( :awesome: ) female talent but the bigger problem is Vince simple doesn't care to focus on the division. Even though the talent pool is shallow there are STILL enough strong female workers to showcase a better divas division.

Beth, Natalya, Gail, Melina, are all great in ring talents. And before they were fired Mickie, Serena, Katie Lea, Jllian all ranged from fantastic to at least competent. But even when all those women were still in WWE the division was still sh** so we can't totally blame the lack of talent.

Vince doesn't give them the time or opportunity on tv. The focus is more on models and the talented girls are used to carry them and make them look good.

Gail Kim vs Beth Phoenix could be a damn good match but WWE isn't interested in having the strong talents headline the division. THATS the problem.

Ben Stein. But unlike McCool his monotone was done as a joke. Hers is because I don't think she knows any better.

I hope she taught preschool because if she didn't most of her students were either to busy looking at her ass (when she had one) or trying not to go to sleep while listening to that boring delivery in class.

Divas now:

BIG difference.

Vince wants a Trish Stratus, he wants a women who owes their success to the WWE, not someone who has made their bones elsewhere

I'm a huge Daizee Haze fan, and it's a crime she hasn't been on TNA or WWE, but I think she knows the bigger companies don't really care about womens wrestling

Regarding "Action Soap Opera"

Check the ratings...how are soap operas doing? Oh, they're all being canceled because no one watches them? They are considered old, past their prime and completely uncool?

Oh, I can see why WWE would want that kind of rub...

Action Soap Opera came from the epic stupidness of Vince McMahon to call it that. The WWE issued a press release announcing that WWE is no longer Wrestling, but action soap opera.

Hence the name of the thread.

What a ******ed schmuck (Vince).

On a PERSONAL level...I understand why it's an "action soap opera"...but on a marketing level I just think it makes the product sound even less cool than it already is...YES, it's accurate...but it's terrible marketing.

For instance, my band has elements of 80's Hard Rock, elements of 90's Grunge, probably even some Nu-Metal and modern rock...but you will NEVER see me say "It's like Winger, Creed, Limp Bizkit and Nickleback all rolled into one". Instead, I tend to say "Progressive Grunge" or "Alice In Chains meets Queensryche" because...that's just a hard thing to comprehend, and our target audience might want to check out how we accomplish that. You don't want to promote your product in a way that will make you seem uncool.

WWE should be promoting their product as maybe..."Mixed Martial Arts meets Superheroes". Both of those things are "trendy" right now...and people are going to kind of stop and think about that comparison...and the target audience might be interested.

Not saying that IS what they should do...just thinking on the fly...I just think that "action soap opera" is incredibly dated and out of touch with pop culture.

Don't see how he can get another Trish Stratus if he keeps letting his troll interrupt and badmouth the matches and give them only a few moments to show anything. Maybe that'll change when Kong debuts.

they need to wrap up this Cole thing....it was funny for a 1/2 second, but its gone on too long

Since I'm not going to read the last 3 pages of this conversation to make a simple comment others probably already have, here's some Vince McMahon.
