WTF?! "Hilton's good behavior cuts jail time to 23 days"

She's not getting off. It's an appropiate sentence. What is she supposed to get extra time for being famous and blonde? She was barely at the legal limit, and almost every single adult in this country has committed the exact same crime.

I saw on the news the other day that in a poll something like 90% of the country wanted the book thrown at her.

I think everybody is just acting like a hypocrite here. It's not like she's some horrible criminal. Because of the innacuracy of the breathalyzer used on her, there is a small chance that she wasn't even over the limit.

She had one measily light drink. and got in a car like 20 minutes later. I'm sure every person in this thread has done it before.

Its not so much that, and more that she drove again after she'd been suspended.

The Meal Plan at CRDF:

"Breakfast"
A hard-boiled egg, bowl of cold cereal and small carton of milk.

"Lunch"
Baloney and bread with either mustard or mayonnaise and an apple (occasionally) and juice .

"Dinner"
"Hot meal" varies but I can guarantee it ain't Filet Mignon.

Yes but most people convicted have done that too. If it wasn't for the sake that she will be serving her time in solitary confinement I'd say another couple days.

But people have to remember what solitary confinement is. It's normally only used as a punishement for dangerous criminals who harm other inmates.

23 days of solitary confinement is like 5 or 6 months of regular jail time. Her sentence is plenty harsh.

Plus she is probably paying a fine, and she is on probation as well.

There's no way in hell she can eat all that food, man!

Haha! :D

jag

And here I was hoping it would be like that classic piece of cinema, Reform School Girls. I swear that shower scene was the first time I felt funny down there.

Ugh, she's not going to be in solitary confinement!

She will be separated from general population, kept in the 12 cell block reserved for police officer, city officials, and celebrities for her own safety. She will have 1 hour of rec time at which point she will be under supervision/protection. She most likely be fed in her cell. Her cell has no TV, and no radio, one thin window, a bunk bed with one sheet and one wool blanket, a sink, and a toilet. It's a standard cell, not "the hole", it's not like the leave her in the dark with no food for 23 hours a day.

She deserves to have her sentence served in full length.

No excuses.

that's exactly what solitary confinement is like. all the details you have are the difference between general population and solitary confinement. It's exactly like the whole. A bunk, sheet, blanket, toilet, and sink.

General population has books, tv, people to talk to and socialize with, commessary, they get to leave the general population area for chow, one hour a day to excerise etc.

solitary confinement inmates don't get any of that, except the one hour a day of recreation. she has the exact same rules and conditions as inmates in solitary confinement. This is essentially the hole.

sentences are given with the assumption that they can get off early for good behavior. That's why judges sentence them longer than they intend for the person to be incarcerated.
Why should she be any different?

This is used as a way to keep inmates in line. It makes the criminal justice system more efficent, and cheaper, and it helps keep the guards safe.

Paris Hilton is not like some evil sick human being. 44 days in jail, seperated from human contact the way she will be, for the crime she committed would be cruel and unusual punishment.

No, it's not. It's called Protective Custody, look it up.

True, but I mean, celebrities shouldn't get "exclusive" treatment, like being imprisoned away from the other inmates and such.

That just sets a bad standard. If you're a celebrity and you break the law, although it may be a minor crime/misdemeanor, you can be treated better than the rest!

yes and sometimes non dangerous inmates who rat on prison gangs end up there too.

It's the same thing. The same rules. The same exact conditions. Changing the name doesn't change the circumstance.

so paris deserves to beaten, raped, and killed now? That's your idea of a good standard?

They do this for all inmates who's time involve extra risk. It's not just for famous people.

To do otherwise would be inhumane.

Except that in some states in Solitary Confinement you do not get your hour of rec time and in Hilton's Protective Custody she gets AT LEAST 1 hour of rec time good behavior credits may warrant more, not to mention that any rec time for Solitary consists of outside or shower time, no TV, no phone like in Protective Custody.

If she runs into some of those more butch cell mates, she'll be "getting off" all right..or least, one of them will. :o We all say Paris isn't attractive, but she's attractive enough to get a broomstick taken to her.

well this is still essentially the same thing. A day of her sentence will be much harder than a day of your normal inmate's sentence. And it's not like she's out killing people.

she broke the law, and she should go to jail, but people are acting like all she's getting is a slap on the wrist, and that's not true.

And you still won't get to watch.

Mainly because it won't happen because she'll be serving alone.

The jails in California are pretty much overcrowded.

Most people get a day credit, for each day served.

So for 45 days, 23 days of service.

I'm not defending her and I know how many people don't like her, but why should she not recieve the same treatment as other people in her position?

Typical. Celebrity means you're above the law. OJ all over again.
