WWE 2K15 on Next-Gen - Part 1

Or, wait until 2K17 which will have all the improvements of both 2K15 and 2K16 as well as some new features.

That's exactly why I don't understand that logic. Theoretically it should get better every year so why would you ever buy it if you can just wait for the next one to be better? You would end up never playing any of them.

With some pretty basic stuff removed it's understandable that people may want to skip out on this years game.

if they had reversed the situation and removed My Career mode from the new gen versions, but kept it in the old gen ones, THAT would have caused me to skip this year.

It looks like you can put masks on real wrestlers:

You cant remove something from a game that didnt exist. Like the NBA 2K series, this is a new game built for the new consoles, not a straight port. They didnt "remove" anything. They just didnt have the time to add in features that other games have had. I don't know why gamers insist on thinking developing video games are an easy thing. You have a set time and set budget to do the stuff you want to do. There is no copy and paste button. These devs don't look at the old gen versions and say yep, CAW, lets highlight that line of code and just paste it into the X1/PS4 version. It doesnt work that way. At all.

I'm well aware of all that.I'm just basic stuff like simple match types should really still be present.Tornado Tag and handicap matches (among other match types such as one on one ladder and multiple 4 man matches) seem like basic stuff that should be there.Stuff that are basic staples of wrestling games.Along with created divas. It seems like they either legit ran out of time or they were more focused on career than anything.

It's understandable that people may or may not want to buy this game due to it obviously being a transitional year.Where next year a more complete game can possibly be released.I have no problem if people buy the game and are happy with it.The gameplay looks great.I Just can't justifiably spend 60 dollars on a game with less features.20 or 30 dollars sure, but a full 60?I'll wait.

do you have to make a separate caw for career or can you just import one

what i mean is i think it was wwe12 you had to make a fresh one for the story mode in the the mode itself. i think it was the whole jacob cass thing

The amount of people *****ing about the omissions in WWE 2K15 is mindnumbing.

It's completely idiotic to (realistically) have expected that they would get all the features from last years game into this game.

Not only were working with brand new console technology this year, as well as giving it a HUUUGE graphical update and using the Visual Concepts scanning tech for the first time, but they had to recreate every aspect of the games so far from the ground up.

There was no possible way they could have gotten it all in.

IGN gave the game 7.0:

www.ign.com/articles/2014/11/18/wwe-2k15-review-ps4xbox-one

They say that PS4 allows only 4 human players. It looks like that is wrong because people on 2K forums said that day one patch was released:

If it was patched in, then IGN wasn't wrong with their review saying it had only 4 players

That may be true but it doesnt change the fact that the lack of features and options does make it a downgrade and people do have a right to be upset about that. I think something similar happened with NHL. Hopefully next year's edition will be better

I think you missed the point of the original post. Nothing in making games is basic. They don't just say well this mode is in, now let's take a player away. The teams have goals and deadlines. As 'simple' as adding a match type is, which it isn't by ANY means, they probably had to spend more this year making sure the game worked in general. If someone doesn't think it's worth 60 bucks, thats OK to. No one forces people to buy something they don't deem worthy.

So far it sounds like this game is getting points off for the lack of modes/features cut. Which we knew for the most part.

I'm more of a casual gamer these days so I'm still very excited. I think I can count Diva matches I've played on one hand. Universe mode isn't anything I need. I never created a belt, arena, or storyline. I stopped creating wrestlers since it takes nearly 6 hours to customize/create everything. I'll fool with online creations at the most. I buy wrestling games for wrestling. And the reviews so far say that's an improvement. And it looks good too. Sold.

I'm also a professional game production artist and know that adding in all this stuff isn't simple drag and drop from one gen to next gen. This game was pushed back as it is...and it wasn't pushed back far enough to do anything too drastic. Probably just some polish here and there so that game plays better. All the Superstar scanning, mocapping/animating/texturing, reiterating create a wrestler, and making the gameplay more authentic is a lot of friggen work.

Wow after all that hype on IGN, the game only gets a 7.0. 2K Games must be upset. Also the game had a lot more missing features than originally anticipated that were not revealed until the last minute.

For example, all the missing features from the game:

- Create a Diva
- Create a Title
- Create an Arena
- Custom Themes
- All custom entrances other than the guy talking on his phone. Only roster member entrances
- Create a Finisher

- Ladder
- I Quit
- 2 out of 3 Falls
- Special Referee (yet is in the showcase mode)
- Casket (yet is in the Showcase mode)
- 3 stages of hell (Yet is in the showcase mode)
- Backstage Brawl
2 vs 2:
- Tornado Tag
- Extreme Rules
- Hell in a Cell
- Ladder
- Steel Cage
- Table
- TLC
- Elimination Tornado
- Elimination Table
- Mixed
- Backstage Brawl

- Falls Count Anywhere
- 2 out of 3 Falls
- No DQ

- Steel Cage
- TLC
- Backstage Brawl
Fatal 4 Way/4-Man:
- Battle Royal
- Hell in a Cell

- Steel Cage
- Table

Priorities. Sure its "basic" to us, but all of that stuff takes hours and hours of coding. For whatever reason, the stuff not included just got pushed to the bottom of the list. I agree some of the omissions leave you scratching your head. I had similar issues with last years NBA 2K game. Some of the things that didnt make the transition in year one really confused me.

I don't get why they didn't just release a full featured game on 360/PS3 and port that to the new consoles, while they work on the current gen version for next year. Instead they release two subpar versions which leave both camps dissapointed

This is the pitfall of an annual game series.

Personally, I wish publishers were not beholden with trying to release a new game in a franchise every year.

Technically nothing was "taken out". Since this is the first game with a new engine on new consoles everything had to be made from scratch, and the stuff everyone keeps complaining about they just didn't have time to do. Considering the huge jump in visual quality and the brand new gameplay features I think 2K have done a pretty good job with the time that they had.

It's obvious people are going to get pretty steamed about what was removed from the game. And that stinks for both them and 2K.

I grew up in an era of wrestling games where it was 16 bit, no entrances, 8 wrestlers, and 2-3 types of matches. And, yeah, the game would cost you $40-60. So I'm not all that disappointed. As long as it has good visuals and an upgrade in gameplay I'll be happy.

In situations like this, it's not up to them. I'm not 100% sure on WWE, but for other licensed sport titles, the league requires a yearly title. The NBA, NFL etc all call for a yearly title as part of the licensing contract,

So I got my "Hulkamania" edition of 2K15 Tuesday and finally got to play it for a little over an hour last night. I don't know if you guys care about general impressions...this thread has little activity but here's mine:

It's pretty basic feature wise. But as someone who grew up on WCW vs nWo Revenge...there's plenty of fun to be had with what you have. Because the WRESTLING (gameplay) is pretty great. The stamina system is fine though I don't really like that there are meters integrated into such a realistic presentation of WWE programming. Perhaps you can turn them off? The matches I had started out slower and methodical. But once you both gain finishers and really go at it the match got really exciting. I only played 6 single exhibition matches.

The graphics are good. The arenas look very nice. The crowd looks and acts a lot livelier. The ring is a much better scale as well. The wrestlers themselves are kinda hit or miss. Most look great in a neutral stance or expression...but once they start emoting in goes into this uncanny valley. Hair behaves much better....they don't look like stiff spiderwebs anymore. But facial hair looks very odd. And it's pretty distracting on models like Bryan, Wyatt, and especially Batista for some reason.

The sound is alright as well. It kinda stinks that you can't choose entrance themes to play during the menus...just the forgettable 2K15 soundtrack. But that's not a huge deal. I really wish the crowd would be louder at points...but I guess it captures the current WWE audiences (:oldrazz:). I like that wrestlers "shout" their phrases during the game and I'm also glad the crowd "Yes"'s a lot (complete with animation) when you play as Bryan. Lawler and Cole actually have conversations in between calling the match. I'm surprised they just didn't have King record 4 or 5 of the same jokes he uses all the time and just have Cole talk about twitter, the app, the network, and diet Mountain Dew.

I haven't played enough to really go into detail. But as someone who plays wrestling games for wrestling...the gameplay is pretty awesome. If you're someone who buys WWE games to solely create/customize everything...I'd say skip this one. But if you want a good prowrestling simulator that looks good and plays great...pick up a copy.
