My all time favorite episode was "Jose Chung's From Outer Space", from season 3 I think. That is seriously one of the most creative things I have ever seen on TV.
The Jose Chung character actually made a fatal crossover to Millenium in the episode "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense", which was equally as good.
Darin Morgan was the BEST writer either show had.

yeah, that episode was hilarious.

My favorite non-mythology (and episode in general...) is Paper Hearts.

Yeah I totally forgot about that one. Man I miss the show...

I remember that episode, that was great. Wasn't that the one where there was some kinda monster that appeared as your worst fear or somethin? And at the start they respond to a call about someone saying they saw Freddy Krueger?

I finished season 8 last night, started on season 9. And they're stil as good second time around :)

Although Monica Raez(sp?) is a little annoying...

Yeah, I recently finished (re)watching all the seasons, along with the Lone Gunmen.

The worst epside, without a doubt, was First Person Shooter.

It's Monica Reyes. The pronunication is 'ray-ez', the spelling is as shown.

New male and female characters were brought in to stop Duchovny and Anderson getting too big for their boots with salary demands; in other words, they could be written out if they demanded too much.

Dogget however, was an awesome character, Annabeth Gish only brought aesthetic qualities really.

Doggett was brought in because Duchovny generally couldn't be arsed anymore since they uprooted from Vancoover to L.A.

So, FOX thought that they could carry on with the The X-Files without Gilliam and David?

Were they alucinating or something?

Maybe without David. Gillian's been in almost every X-Files episode. There's, what, 200 episodes? And she's been in 196.

With out David there is no quest for the truth.

the X files is pretty much Mulder's Story.

I actually found the Scully-centered episodes more interesting during the first 7 years of the show.

The Pilot is more focused on Scully, I think. It is told from her perspective. Then, the show started focusing more on Mulder until Season 4 when Scully developed cancer. From Seasons 4 - 7, especially dealing with Scully's cancer and infertility...I felt like a lot of the emphasis on her.

Mulder is the one searching for the truth, but Scully has always been meant to be the one the audience is really supposed to relate to and identify with. She's the skeptic, the one who sees the world in absolutes, and has to led eased into the areas of gray that Mulder seeks out.

Yep. One lady sees him as Freddy. The main cop thinks he's the "Wasp Man," a story he was told as a kid, and the coroner at the end is afraid of the Hanta virus and dies instantly. It's great because you never see any of these things.
