X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

At least we now know WHY he was fired, for this decision alone would be enough. :o:hehe:

Are there any videos or pics of the new suits by any chance?

No. No photo or video was allowed during the panel, which was strictly enforced. Security guards were walking around and watching everyone like hawks.

Also thanks Pennywise for sharing my tweets. I saw the footage if anyone has any questions.

Were they more strict about it due to all the leaks from the previous night?

X-Men ‘97 is so good, IMO, any more episodes is just icing on the cake. So I’m not really looking at any of these announcements critically; just excited to see where there story goes.

I certainly could think of better costumes than the Morrison-era, but I also thought the finale throwback costumes were a downgrade from the 90s looks so I don’t mind the idea that (hopefully) the team’s look is constantly evolving with the story. Wonder what that means for the characters that weren’t in that run though; were Rogue and Storm doing X-Treme X-Men stuff with Bishop at the time?

I would say no. I've been to every D23, and Disney is typically strict about no photo or video during the major panel events. The difference is that this year, the big events were held at the Honda Center instead of at the ACC Arena or the Hall D23. Honda Center is a huge arena, so it's harder for security to enforce that. The way the space is set up in the ACC Arena or the Hall D23 setup two years ago made it easier to enforce the no photo and video policy. ACC's arena can hold about a fraction of the amount of people as the Honda Center.

Is Alex really there or just Lorna?

Any other character besides Lorna, Sabretooth, Danger and Deathstryke?

Is it Danger or is Warlock—I’m seeing conflicting reports.

Warlock makes more sense given his previous introduction but we’ll see.

I wonder what the long term goal for 97 is cause the Morrison costumes are more of an early 2000s thing. How many more seasons till we get X-Men 98? Or will there be a time jump to 00'?

Sure am feeling confident in MCU X-men. I wonder what the corporate line is for his firing.

“Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation,” said a Marvel spokesperson in a statement. “Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately, and he has no further affiliation with Marvel.”

Sources say that following his exit, an agreement was reached between the two parties over the issue of tweeting about the show, something that DeMayo had continued to occasionally do. In light of the breeches, his credit for season two was removed. While no details of the cause of the termination or the internal reviews have surfaced, sources say it involved sexual misconduct.

My opinion of Disney is the same as all these other corporations at the moment, which is that there is a lot of ****ery at the highest level, so this being a factor isn’t implausible… but I have serious doubts that it’s down to just that.

He's not claiming he was fired over the artwork. He's claiming his credits were removed over the artwork. People are simply conflating the two topics together.

I've heard a lot of vague things about Beau DeMayo. No idea what happened. It's hard for me to pass judgment based on such vague explanations, but this is all we have to go on.

Disney is claiming sexual misconduct, and DeMayo is claiming homophobia. It's what I thought would happen, but we're still low on details. There's going to be more soon enough.

Sexual misconduct generally means that there's a victim in this. Using a term like that for just the Onlyfans and his social media posts would be controversial. We'll see, but it doesn't look good for Beau.

Too many vague comments have come out about DeMayo over the years not to believe there is some merit in this. No way Marvel would let him go over Only Fans or retweeting fan art.

Due to Marvel's silence (in an effort not to overshadow the show), DeMayo saw an opportunity to play the victim and rally support for his career. Should've just ate his salad and received praise from his fans on Twitter.

Now it'll all come out.

The rumours I’m seeing on Reddit is that he sent unsolicited nude or half nude pictures of himself to staff to use for “inspiration.”

I just hope we get a great Season 2, that's all. I'm done with all this other nonsense.

When he says "faith and patience," does he actually have more to reveal, or is this just to string along folks? Especially when he says it's Disney and Marvel's usual playbook.
