X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

Couple of random thoughts.

Interesting that Moira was on the council and how they made a point to call out that she's not a mutant. Curious to see if that gets explored given her recent status in the Krakoa era comics or if it's just simply an easter egg.

Anyone else notice the Watcher halfway through the episode?

Also, predicition (that I saw someone else make on another board and shamelessly stealing :oldrazz:) . I bet that Leech saves Magneto, by depowering him after that last blast and that's why the Sentinal no longer detected an Omega Level threat
Oh yes, I like that theory. I actively want that to be the case now.

Still nothing. But it makes me hopeful that he reactivated his Twitter and he interacts with the other creators of the show on there too.

But hey, if James Gunn can get a second chance, anyone else should be a shoo-in.
Oh that is a good sign. I hope it wasn’t something too bad. If it was something along the lines of being difficult to work with then that could at least be worked on. Obviously if it’s something more in the Majors vein then we can find someone else.

A great platform for season 1 in any case. I wonder how many seasons they plan to make if the reception continues to be this strong.

With Beau DeMayo writing so much of the season.....him being gone is going to be a huge impact to future seasons
Maybe its just me, but I was left wondering why didnt Feige consider him as the writer for Secret Wars (before the firing)?

IF he's in the clear then he would probably get a role in MCU X-Men. Consultant at least if not more.

So the title for the last three episodes is Tolerance is Extinction.

Given what just happened in Episode 5...Is Cassandra Nova coming? Will this tie into Deadpool after all?

Well, it seems like some new slots might be opening up. :weeping:

Well yes.
if this lead to Psylocke and Colossus to joining the team permanently, then shall be it!!!

I see @squeekness has not responded yet
I'm getting worried y'all

Should we send someone to check on her???
I've had a crazy day with my car in the shop. Haven't watched it yet and I was clicking the spoilers to see if I even should and now I guess I'm going to be ticked off. I'll suck it up and watch it but I'm thinking it might be my last one. :(

they can’t kill of Gambit permanently…can they?
They could do a X-Men: Days of Future Past the movie on him.

Anyway, I think it would be a bold move to kill major characters. Especially for a revival series. There's also plenty of X-Men characters that can be included in the regular roster for X-Men '98 and X-Men '99.

I think Magneto is alive. As for will the event be undone....I actually am going to say no. I know they easily can with Cable and such, but the creator's comment on wanting this to be like the first 4 are a gateway to nostalgia pre-9/11 and this is when everything changes.....Given that artist statement, I think it sort of NEEDS to stick. Cause it's part of the mission statement of the episode.

That's just me though. That also said....Gambit could be brought back by other means. Wasn't he a Horseman at one point? Maybe Apocalypse revives him

I ran into an X-Men "fan" who was trying to prove that the dialogue of the revival is bad by hating on the line "To Me, My X-Men". I thought he was trolling initially, but he seemed genuine. They quickly moved the goalpost several times. First getting the line wrong, later saying that's not how they said it in the series, and then that the line didn't become as popular until 30 years ago (LOL). I genuinely don't understand why people are pretending to be a part of the fandom just to spread anger. Then again, I need to not reply to them and get a hobby as well. :tearsofjoy:

Seriously though, this episode has been on my mind all day. This has really blown my expectations out of the water. I know there's recency bias, but it's genuinely some of the best animated X-Men content we've ever gotten. Keep it coming!

I don't know where the story goes from here, but I kind of wish they don't fix this with time travel just to see lasting effects of the attack on Genosha. A with Magneto dead, that leaves room for someone else, Cyclops (given what he said during the interview)to take his place in taking a more militant stance against humanity.

Death Gambit is possible, as it is a fun design and he never really explored in the books. There is also the possibility of Sinister breaking out the Marauders finally

I'd take Death Gambit over no Gambit at all. He really did shine in this episode but it sucks if he had to die for them to finally use him beyond being Rogue's sidekick.

I haven't read the comics or anything in forever, but as they were walking through Genosha I could've sworn the place got nuked or something in the comics...guess I was right lol

Best episode ever! Everything was perfect. The character drama, the soap opera, the music, and that god damn final part.

Rehire that toxic top now! I Demand it! :argh:

Ugh... I don't even know what to say anymore. Still processing it.
