kristan stewart as X23!!

While this is AWESOME Kristen is tied up with Twilight and its 3 sequels. I doubt she'd get involved in another franchise right now.

He has one more movie to do then.

I don't believe it works that way. My guess is Fox either options his contract within a certain timeframe or for a certain movie. If the studio doesn't, Cumming is probably released from his contract. The studio didn't want Cumming back, therefore he probably isn't obligated to do another X-Men movie. The studio doesn't get to hang it over his head forever... or I could be completely wrong.

If Josh Schwartz is indeed helming the project, I think the best way to go about it would be to make it a cross between Harry Potter and the O.C. but featuring mutants instead. This at least plays to his strengths since he's well familiar with the high school setting, is fairly good at creating stories around a medium-sized cast of character stereotypes (it's the character development that he isn't too great on) and has a knack for casting actors/actresses who physically look the part.

Of course, it it was my call, I would go a completely different direction by making it a sequel of sorts (as opposed to prequel). It would go something like this:

Set after the events of X-Men 3, the presence of the 'cure' has increased human-mutant tensions with the public now convinced more than ever that the X-gene mutation is a disease which ought to be cured. Enter Reverend Matthew Risman, an anti-mutant supporter who leads a group known as the Purifiers. It is his belief that the cure is a miracle by God, an opportunity to repent for the mutant/sinners and that those who refuse it are the Devil's agents. Hence, it is his belief that the remaining mutants need to be exterminated.

In these dark times, the X-Men have become the focus of the anti-mutant sentiment. Fearing that the school, and thus the children would be in danger with their presence, the main X-Men team now operate from elsewhere in hopes of diverting the dangers away from the school. Meanwhile, Storm (can be replaced by another character) has taken the role as headmistress at the Xavier Institute. She hires Emma Frost, the sole telepath strong enough to use Cerebro, to help locate new mutants. However, this move proves problematic as Frost was a Magneto supporter who thus influences the students to take a more 'proactive' stance against mutant haters.

As the movie progresses, Storm and Frost come to loggerheads over a particular group of troublemaker mutants due to their opposing philosophies. Meanwhile, Risman and his Purifiers carry on their crusade, finding their next target being the children of the Institute.

As for who the central characters, my pick for the team is as follows:

Julian Keller/Hellion
: A charismatic, self-absorbed mutant with the power of telekinesis. He's the 'leader' simply because he's the most goal-oriented. Has an antisocial streak and swayed towards Frost's world view.

David Alleyne/Prodigy: An outsider to the group. Hellion's roommate with the power to steal other people's skills. Rational and attempts to keep Hellion's group from jumping into the deep end.

Noriko Ashida/Surge
: An impulsive Japanese mutant with the power to absorb and discharge electricity. More reckless than Hellion.

Sooraya Qadir/Dust: A quiet Sunni mutant with the power to turn into sand. Afraid to speak her mind.

Laura Kinney/X-23: A 'lone wolf' mutant with claws and a healing factor. Described as Wolverine's 'sister'. Has bloodlust issues which make people around her nervous.

Victor Borkowski: Wisecracking but fiercely loyal mutant with a reptilian appearance and the powers of camouflage and limb regeneration. Hellion's confidante. Panics easily.

With the report of Scott Summers possibly appearing in Wolverine (crazy), I wonder if this means that they've also cast the actor to play Cyclops for this 'supposed' Young X-Men prequel? Or is this all just a big hoax?

I hope they use the same actor for the two spin-offs, it would be stupid using one new actor to play Cyclops in each movie, no?

I hope Fox know what they're doing....... though we all know Fox :csad:

i like those picks mr.P..i would be very pleased with them....

my hopes for this movie, should it be about the "new mutants" would be to see

returning:
storm: as a teacher and mentor, little if no field work

beast: same as storm

nightcrawler: he needs to be back, its just that simple. unsure of what his role should be

iceman/shadowkat/colossus/angel: new team leaders of the x:men....

new mutants:
allison crestmere/magma
norika ashida/surge
david alleyne/prodigy
remi lebeau/gambit
elizebeth braddock/psylocke
Jean-Paul Beaubier/northstar

colossus and kitty are team leaders of x-men red, they take on prodigy, psylocke, and northstar

iceman and angel lead xmen blue, along with magma, surge, and gambit

non combat mutants like forge and emma should be introduced as new teachers, perhaps hint at them being fulltime xmen at one time. in the course of the movie forge build a machine that can transfer prof.X's mind from the other mans body into cerebro...after which prof X will be able to project mental images of himself to appear as if he was living again, but he would at all times be connected to cerebro.

the storyline itself i think should be either the purifiers or the sentinel....perhaps a purifiers story in which the us propogand to manipulate the general publiic into thinking that mutants are the enemy (again)...then as a result of this, in the next movie we would see bolivar trask steal strykers research and begin sentinel development.

rogue would have her own side story away from the institute, shes a runaway who gets taken in by a woman named carol...while living with carol she meets a girl and they become friends. her new friends tells her that carol is an evil mutant who is a part of some crazy scheme to destroy the humans. rogue even notices carol talking on the phone, but is very mysterious and secretive about it (some of the things rogue overhears sound very incriminating). the girl convinces rogue that the only way to stop her is to touch her so she cant follow through with her plans. rogue grabs carol one night while she sleeps, but she cant let go....she kills carol. rogue is freaking out becuase of the massive amount of power she has just absorbed. we later find out that "carol" was actually carol danvers aka ms. marvel and the people she was speaking with on the phone was actually shield trying to recruit her for the avengers. rogues friend was actually mystique and was manipulating rogue the whole time. rogue is institutionalized because the large amount of power along with ms marvel personality have caused her to have a mental collapse.

That would rock. But it will never happen.

why not?

they offered him X3, but he coudn't do it by that time, so...

As cool as it would be, and as much as I'd love to see it, I don't think Whedon would do it. Right now, he's too busy with his new TV series, Dollhouse. And the last time he tried multitasking, it didn't go so well.

I wish we knew why the original story on this guy was taken down? Maybe the writer requested it to be deleted because of the negative comments he made on Hulk and Singer/Ratner?

Edit:

In a blog post that appeared May 2 on bbook.com, some quotations by the subject Josh Schwartz were erroneously reported. Consequently, BlackBook immediately removed the item. We regret the error and extend our apologies to Mr. Schwartz.

I think I'm the only one that thinks he didn't make a bad comment about Singer, it's was viceversa.

He said Singer get a free pass to Superman returns because his (good) work with X1 and X2.

This guy has started off on the wrong foot if he really said what he's alleged to have said in that interview.:o

With all due respect, the writer/producer of The OC and Gossip Girl doesn't me much confidence in this project. And besides i'd much rather they hire someone to write a sequel with Stweart, McKellen etc. than more spin-offs.

Weird. So what exactly was the mistake? And why didn't they put back up the article sans the the error? Sounds fishy if you ask me.

And how come no one has been able to confirm this with Schwartz yet. It's been a month now right?

Speaking of Singer...where the heck are his 12 issues of Ultimate X-Men comics??! I thought the scripts were ready for that.

Maybe FOX weren't happy with him bashing Ratner and X3.

If you going to work for them you need to kiss ass and say everything is perfect :D

I wonder if we'll know something more about the two spin-offs (apart from Wolverine) in this year...

I'm not holding my breath. It's been more than 2 years since X3 was released and all we're hearing about is spinoffs, spinoffs, spinoffs....:(

I have the feeling Magneto movie won't be really announced until Wolverine is released....

but we'll see...

I've read that an X4 would be too big to do right now, I suspect that they'll surprise everybody and instead of doing a young X-Men film with the younger cast, they'll recast the older X-Men with lesser expensive and younger actors in prequels after the spin-offs are done

Lord of the rings had more actors than the x-films, so the x-men actors aren't a real problem, in term of money.

I'm agreed about the surprise, I think they'll announce X-men 4 before expected.

When a handful of your cast commands a combined salary upwards of $50,000,000 for one movie, the actors are very much a problem in terms of money. The Lord of The Rings films were shot at once and therefore did not face the same difficulties in terms of casting, contracts, and salaries as the X-Men franchise. For instance, Halle Berry's salary for X-Men: The Last Stand is probably more than that of all of the Hobbits combined.

Which is very sad if you think about it.

and Hugh Jackman's one?

who do you think got more money for the X3? Halle or Hugh? I'd like to know it.

I would hope it's Hugh who got more considering his character was more essential to the story.
