X-Men - Part 1

Now that I think about it, the whole previous decade consisted of Charles walking. He started walking during Morrison's run, and was only back in the wheelchair during that little gap between the end of Morrison's run and House of M.
I actually didn't even notice Chuck was walking in First Class until he gets paralyzed at the end of the movie. I was like, "Oh yeah, that does happen at some point, doesn't it?"

HAHA same here Corp! I completely forgot about the whole paralyzing thing, it didnt even cross my mind. I guess we're just used to seeing him walk so much now?

Besides Marvel adding Wolverine to yet another title and totally not knowing when to stop. I am interested to see where these two titles go. They shouldve just titled W&Xmen, Xtreme X-men or something.

X-Treme X-Men was a stupid title the first time. They don't need to use it again.

Im surprised they never went back to Amazing X-men. That seemed like a no brainer

Why? They're not adding Wolverine to a new series; he's always been in pretty much every X-Men series. Wolverine's a big seller and it's looking like the title will actually be true to the series' content. After Schism, Wolverine will actually be leading a team of X-Men. Really, it seems more logical to ask, "Why isn't Uncanny X-Men going to become Cyclops and the X-Men?"

Cuz unlike Wolverine, Cyclops isn't a big seller. :o

It pains me that they announce a new series called Wolverine and the X-men after cancelling the awesome tv series of the same name :(. I'd rather that title be retired or at least bring the cartoon back as a tie in( I know, never gonna happen)

Don't worry, they replaced it with the vastly superior Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. :awesome:

Also, that show wasn't awesome at all. It was.....adequate.

I was not a fan of Wolverine and the Xmen at all. It had massive potential but ultimately it was just a wolverine wank fest with the xmen in the background. Now i guess you would argue "But thats why its called WOLVERINE and the xmen!!". I just cant get behind wolverine leading the team. Wolvie is supposed to be that arrogant yet loveable roughneck grunt (ala Jayne on Firefly). When you start putting him in a leadership role....it just doesnt work. Cyclops is a born leader, wolverine isnt.

Plus...I hated the fact that Wolverine was as tall as cyclops. They guy is like 5'4 for cripes sake.

Bias there, much?

The series had numerous faults, but showed quite a bit of promise, not to mention some fine writing and overall voicework. If the writers had decided to focus in on the overall metaplot they designed for the first series at an earlier episode than they did, some of those faults would have been away.

NEWSARAMA INTERVIEW

Man... finally a good bit of news coming out of this Schism crap. Carlos Pacheco is back on Uncanny X-Men. Sadly, he's rotating with Land instead of Dodson, but it'll still be nice to have him back. And it irks me that Land actually wanted off of the book but was convinced to stay. Hopefully he'll only last another arc or two and then leave officially.

And I'm iffy on Bachalo as the ongoing artist for Wolverine & the X-Men. He's so hit and miss it's frustrating. Hopefully it'll be more Generation X than Age of Apocalypse but we'll see.

Also....

Well, the Uncanny team and their leader will certainly be prominent, but that doesn’t mean that Wolverine is going underground. He takes actions that very much affect how readers and Marvel Universe citizens will react to him.

So it looks like Cyclops won't be leader of the Uncanny team... should this be the confirmation that he dies? The article hints that someone dies and I think there's been hints elsewhere.

Either way, I think I'm done with spoilers on this event. Most of them are just turning me off and frustrating me and with things like this now if something big, like Cyclops's death, happens, I won't bat an eye because I suspected it was coming.

Pretty much.

Wolvie wasn't quite as tall as Cycke in the show; if Cycke were really 6'3" (the height Marvel says he is) Wolvie looked like he was 5'10", maybe 5'11". But I guess popularity gives him random growth spurts.

Yeah, I always thought they should have cast Peter Dinklage as Wolverine in the movies, too, not that Hugh Jackman ****.

Heh, I always thought it was crazy that Jackman was a last second replacement for Dougray Scott and it launched him into super stardom. All because Mission Impossible 2's shooting ran over a couple of months......now Scott is a nobody.

I really Hope Scott doesn't bite it.That would really suck.

Even if he did, he'd probably come back within a year or two.

That's why I rather they don't even do it.The death thing is ridiculous.

If it's done well and fits the needs of the story, then I doubt it would be ridiculous.

If Cyclops was brought back to life in some stupid, half-assed way three months from now, then that would be ridiculous.

Death has become a clutch in comic book storytelling. The only one that's been excellent was Cap's and his resurrection wasn't all that great and it was Brubaker. If someone is going to die leave them that way. That's why as much as I love Nightcrawler I don't want him back. When death in the Marvel Universe means as much as when it happens in Dragonball Z there is a problem.

Nothing about that would make Cyclops dying in the pages of Schism as penned by Jason Aaron "ridiculous."

I have faith in Aaron. One of my favorite writers.Just hoping he doesn't kill off Scott.
