Um...

 I know it was kinda separate, but they were still pulled into it.
It was a side story which wasnt directly a part of the main plot and completely non-essential to the crossover. They werent working with and/or interacting with the X-men. The team was left to do its own thing segregated from them

They're in New York City. If Cyclops moved to Westchester, he'd still want the X-Men to be proper superheroes, and that'd mean frequent trips to NYC.
Cool, then I dont see how X-factor would be any different than how things were over the years with the FF and Avengers in NYC. They dont have any major issues with each other and there's big enough room for all in NY as they serve completely different purposes

As a reader only of X-Factor at the time, it was crossover enough for me. I had absolutely no idea what was going on half the time for those issues. Random characters who had nothing to do with what was going on in X-Factor started showing up. I'm sure I would've understood the story better if I'd read any of the other X-Men comics, but I didn't want to precisely because of malarkey like Second Coming.

The FF and Avengers don't hate Cyclops. Multiple Man and most of X-Factor do.

If Cyclops is reforming, I doubt they'd continue to hate him. They largely took issue with his militant, "if you're not with us, you're against us" mindset. They did come to the X-Men's aid at critical times, as noted by their involvement with those crossovers.

I thought it had more to do with Scott's complete lack of respect for X-Factor. He didn't tell them what caused M-Day, tried to boss them around, and he expected Jamie to report Quicksilver's movements in Mutant Town without Scott feeling like he had to tell X-Factor anything. And that was before he recruited Jamie during Messiah Complex without telling Jamie that his plan involved killing several of his duplicates. I don't think Jamie took issue with the militant attitude until the Nation X invitation. But even after that, I'm sure Jamie has a bone to pick when it comes to what Scott coerced Rahne into doing with X-Force.

Unless something happpened in X-factor that Im not aware of, they dont hate each other. Last time they interacted that i know of was in the Nation X oneshot and Madrox and Cyclops left on very good terms. Scott left an open invitation to Utopia and Jamie invited him to work with his team. His exact words were "X-factor could use a good guy like you". Any animosity that existed pre-MC when both were in NY, doesnt seem to be there anymore

That's what I meant. Cyclops expected X-Factor to fall in line and basically be another unit of mutant soldiers under his command even though Jamie and others on the team stated they had no interest in fighting for mutant rights or towing the line under Scott or whatever.

Based on what I've read about Schism, this makes total sense. I always wanted Beast vs Cyke instead. What interests me about the preview is Psylocke on the Cyclops side and Emma and Colossus on Wolverine's side. It may not be "official" line ups instead just a team photo ripped in half for dramatic effect.

I'm just not interested in seeing Cyclops and Wolverine fight each other for the umpteenth time. Besides i thought they were past all that stuff.

Well, this time they don't have Jean around to fight over. I would have preferred 2 other options outside of the current rebooting of status quo. The first would be the above mentioned Beast vs Scott with Hank reopening the school.

The second would have been Scott never disbanding X-Force at the end of Second Coming (even though he did) and the Avengers finding out, causing them to come flatten Wolverine, the X-Men and banishing Cyclops from his leadership role. Then someone other than Xavier or Magneto takes up the reigns leading the group into a new era. I'd rather see Wolverine as a fugitive and Scott on his own. It would open up a ton of more possibilities for stories.

I'm also concerned how Schism is going to effect Uncanny X-Force because it's the best X-title out right now.

How many freakin times have the xmen separated/disbanded though?? In the past 3 years no less? What is the x-mansion going to explode yet again too? Is there no other stories left to tell with these guys?

I dunno, this seems like a more significant rift than anything we've seen recently

While I agree the "Wolverine and the X-men" title blows, I'm interested to see where this goes.

And I don't think that picture is the actual teams, just a little tease/misdirect

the question should be "Why should you follow?"

I'd be interested in that Adams Wolverine book.Wolverine and the X-men makes X-force pretty much obsolete.

I hope that's just a promo image and not how the teams really will divide up.

Another thing.....Are we really going to but Xavier back in the chair again!

I doubt it. He hasn't been in a chair in 4-5 years, but he's in the chair every time they put him on a cover.

To be fair, it's Superhero Comics. Any character progression is temporary at best.

That seems to be the big question. If it is real, the biggest controversies would obviously be Emma going with Wolverine and X-23 going with Scott.

Now that I think about it, the whole previous decade consisted of Charles walking. He started walking during Morrison's run, and was only back in the wheelchair during that little gap between the end of Morrison's run and House of M.

Thats because Jean Grey is coming back so she can be killed off again.
