X-Men - Part 4

Eh, I like both of those artists but I never had a snowball's chance in Hell of reading Uncanny X-Men in the first place. Cyclops continuing to be an immoral *****e, a team of the most morally ambiguous faux-heroes to ever call themselves X-Men, and Bendis writing? Yeah, that was never gonna work for me. :oldrazz:

Agreed. And stop trying to hypnotize us with your avatar.

I get motion sickness and vertigo. I actively do my best to not look at Corp's avatar for fear of it setting it off. I've not had a vertigo attack in 5 or 6 months. I'd like it to stay that way.

Oh, I didn't know it was actually bad enough to trigger vertigo attacks. I've changed it.

The Extinction team was one of the best lineups to come out of the X-men this past decade. I look forward to seeing more of them in UXM and glad they arent over. ANX is a prelude to that and so far Im enjoying the team

Well, given that the Extinction team also had Storm, Danger, Hope, Psylocke, Colossus, and Namor, I'd hardly call this the same thing, given that it's been cut down to less than half.

Every single one of the members on the Uncanny team came from there. Its the spiritual successor to that lineup and it carries a similar vibe as its a direct sequel to what was going on in the previous book. It seems like a natural progression and Im glad they as a unit havent been completely abandoned, even if some members have fallen off

I'm sure lots of you will disagree with me, but if I was the one deciding the directions of various x-books, I would actually have Cyclops leading an "X-Force" team, operating in secret, trying to protect mutantkind from both internal and external threats. They would sometimes cross the line that X-Force has been known to cross, but I would have Cyclops be much more conflicted about it. Basically, he would want to continue his work to "save" mutants as a species, but know that he went overboard as Phoenix, and his is not the face that people need to see representing mutants.

Instead of Cable leading an X-Force team, I would actually have him leading the Uncanny X-Men, which would be the globetrotting, "superhero" team with a diverse cast of mutants (not just diverse in race/gender, but like which X era/team they come from).

So how long do you guys think the original 5 will stick around? And do you think they will actually be able to change things? ( Disclaimer: I hope they stick around for as long as humanly possible).

I honestly expect at least one of them to be dead by the end of the year. I think it may end up being Beast. The older Beast will live with the guilt that if it wasnt for him, his younger self wouldnt have been killed. After that, I can see him trying to send the others back and I expect all to leave except Jean, as she's the only original one in the current 616 MU landscape. Since Marvel doesnt seem interested in bringing back the older 616 Jean, I think they will keep this younger one as she doesnt have the history and baggage them seem to want to get away from

How will older Beast still exsist if the younger version has died??

Eh, time travel is pretty inconsistent in the MU. Present Day Beast would probably be just fine, and the death of his younger self will just create an alternate timeline.

Yeah, time travel has no baseline or sense. For some destroying the past kills the present. For others it makes them a man/woman out of time. In a way it's like magic in the MU, they never bothered to actually set rules so it's however the current writer decides.

I could see that happening.

Then they age her up a few years so she can fall in bed with Wolverine. :down

Part of me hopes that Rachel and Teen Jean become good friends so Rachel can finally get over her weird mommy issues with versions of Jean that aren't actually her mom.

But another part of me knows that they'll be lucky to speak 2 words to one another on-panel.

I want Rachel to walk in on Teen Jean & Teen Scott at the most embarrassing moment possible and lecture them like an overbearing parent.

RACHEL: "I want you two in separate rooms at all time! I will not have you two screwing-" [embarrassed pause] "-messing up the time line more than it already is!"
TEEN JEAN: "Wow, our daughter is really strict. She gets it from you."
TEEN SCOTT: "Oh yeah sure, blame me, why not? I'm an easy target."

I would like most if not all of them to stay, but I am with the group that thinks Jean will likely be the only one who does.

I could totally see Teen Cyclops finding a way to leave Teen Jean stranded in the future in a highly impractical attempt to save her life, but we'll have to wait & see how things play out.

Alternate timelines.

Which is what makes this whole thing kinda pointless. No matter what the O5 see in 2012, if they go back to their time and "fix it", nothing will change in the present. Marvel time is non-linear. The big brains in the MU know this too

Marvel time is nonlinear unless it isn't. Read it again knowing what you know about Bendis. :oldrazz:
