X-Men - Part 5

Until these other women come forward that Fowler was talking about, one would have to assume that it was some isolated incident instead of common behavior by Wood.

Well duh, just look at how they treat women in the comics. :o

I don't think that's much of a fair assessment in comics nowadays, ESPECIALLY in X-Men, a title that has always (well, since the 80's) had 50/50 guys and girls, and they're on the whole not really sexualized. Yes, many have skimpy outfits or large busts or show lots of skin, but that's been toned down. And all the women I read aren't lovestruck dimwits reliant on men, but strong capable heroines.

Who somehow manage to turn their bodies just enough so their butts are shown in just about every panel. :o

Funny you say that bc Wood's X-men is 100% female and his book before that was primarily female with 1-2 guys on the lineup. I guess one thing that's improved as far as sexualization is that Psylocke's butt is no longer hanging out of her costume, but I think Uncanny X-force is mostly responsible for putting her in pants

I still think the costume argument gets overblown a lot, but the ridiculous poses women get mangled into do have to be corrected, like, c'mon guys, it's called anatomy, most artists start there

I'm loving how gay the X-books were this week.

The X-Men have more gay characters than any other superhero team in comics.

I have no problem with gay characters. Wiccan is my top fave in that regard. :)

Northstar, Anole, Bling, Karma, Graymalkin, Prodigy, Shatterstar, Rictor, Bloke and Phat from the X-Men alone.

I guess I regard Rictor as being more bi than gay. He's bedded girls easily enough. :)

Also just revealed Benjamin Deeds, the shapeshifter introduced in All-New/Uncanny in this week's Uncanny X-Men.

I guess if you wanna count bi characters as well we may need to add Psylocke to that list. We see her quite a bit with Fantomex and Cluster (Lady Fantomex) while they're away in Paris in Uncanny X-Force.

Prodigy is Bi as well but I just typed a list of gay/lesbian/bi X-characters I could remember :cwink:

Mystique and Destiny are two more.

Daken's also bi, though sort of out of convenience
I guess he'd still fit in the lgbt camp though

Psylocke I felt was more of a "I have feelings for Fantomex, this is the best part of his personality, so I don't mind he's now a girl" than her switching teams

I wonder how long it is until Northstar's husband Kyle's head is found in a fridge. Being a non-powered partner of a superhero never ends well.

Prodigy for me, then maybe Karolina Dean or Hulkling. I LOVED Hulkling when YA first came out, but I feel like he and Wiccan's relationship has defined them more than their characters, and that hurts them. They're becoming the new Gambit and Rogue.

So... were we supposed to know who Ana Cortes is? Because I read this week's X-Men and had absolutely no clue.

that sounds about right considering she's a new character

I posed this in the X-men forum but no response so I'll ask it here. What the heck did Monet do there when she attacked the cars? It seemed like some type of energy blast. Since when was she able to do that? PAD gave her new powers in X-factor?

The narration made it seem like she was using her speed to create gusts of air to push the cars or something. Like the Flash often does. Although I didn't think Monet was that fast...

Isn't that what homosexuality is though? They found love in a person who just happens to be the same sex as them. I'm sure writers will forget about it in a month (it's not like she's every shown any kind of similar feelings to another woman before) but I just felt it was worth note.

Oh thanks. I know she has superspeed while flying, but didnt think it was anything like that on land. I dont think the art did a good job of displaying what she was doing there.

What is the point of having a depowered Karima on this lineup. I never cared for Karima but the coolest thing about her was the fact that she was a sentinel. Im really not feeling her being written as a cop with a gun. She just seems so boring compared to how she used to be

no I don't think so, it would be like someone who stayed married to a person who went through gender reassignment, just because you're now married to someone of the same sex doesn't necessarily make you gay, it just means you love this person so much it doesn't matter
