X-Men - Part 8

Your yellow font color is really hard to read. :(

At this point, I am kind of assuming the Mothervine arc is going to end with Havok getting his inversion reversed. Because, there is really no coming back from that.

this is being put up by out lets again. and it was said with his first apearence with the pages of iron man that he was a mutant. here it is below from CBR Aka comic book resorces.

at the start he wasn't but after wards it was the some time before the 80's stated at the botom he indeed was made into one which is why places like the marvel data base have this from the old page fom the books.

Powers

By far the strongest and most powerful Titanian Eternal, Thanos is a superhuman mutant whose massive, heavy-bodied form was born with the capacity to synthesize cosmic energy for certain personal uses. Thanos has increased his powers through bionic amplification, mystical enhancement, and as a result of being resurrected by Deathitself.

He was deemed a Category 1 Life Ender by the Nova Corps, to have an "universal" threat level and to have been a one-time reality ender,[86] and was seemingly a Cosmic-level threat, being sent by the Shi'ar Imperial Guard to the core cell of a galactic gulag.[74]
Superhuman Intelligence: Possibly Thanos' most dangerous ability is his mind. Thanos' intellect is dedicated to enhancing his own powers and to the annihilation of all life. Thanos is a genius in virtually all known fields of advanced science and has created technology far exceeding contemporary Earth science. He has also shown to quickly adapt to new battle situations, as shown in his fight with the Champion of the Universe, who outclassed him physically and whom he beat by dancing around him, blasting him with energy attacks and tricking him into destroying the planet they fought on.[87] Thanos has remarked that, compared to himself, Bruce Banner's intelligence is only great for human standards.[88]

Thanos Is From Titan, A Moon Of Saturn That Is Home To A Beautiful Race Of Near-Gods

thanos-is-from-titan-a-moon-of-saturn_home-to-a-beautiful-race-of-near-gods-photo-u1

Thanos Rising/Marvel ComicsThanos may seem like a threat from a distant galaxy, but he was actually born within the bounds of Earth’s solar system. Thanos comes from a race of Earth-originating Eternals - god-like beings that colonized Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. Most of the Titanian people are born flawless and beautiful, but Thanos is a purple-skinned, wrinkle-chinned aberration - in other words, a mutant. This mutation and further augmentations would ultimately grant Thanos far greater powers than the other Eternals, but it came at the cost of forever being an outsider on his utopian home planet. He is called a Deviant by his peers, referring to centuries-old prejudices. Of course, Thanos eventually slaughters the vast majority of Titan’s population in response to this ostracization, so it stands to reason that his childhood had a lasting impact on him.

Comic Legends: Was Thanos Always a Mutant? >>:https://www.cbr.com/thanos-mutant-o...ibution&utm_source=CBR-TW&utm_campaign=CBR-TW

Welcome to Comic Book Legends Revealed! This is the six hundred and seventy-seventh week where we examine comic book legends and whether they are true or false.
NOTE: I noticed that the the CSBG Twitter page was nearing 10,000 followers. If we hit 10,050 followers on the the CSBG Twitter page then I’ll do a BONUS edition of Comic Book Legends Revealed during the week that we hit 10,050. So three more legends! Sounds like a great deal, right?
Click here for Part 1 of this week’s Thanos-related legends. Click here for Part 2 of this week’s Thanos-related legends.
COMIC LEGEND:

Thanos was always a mutant.
STATUS:

False

Reader Will C. wrote in with this one, asking whether Jim Starlin always intended for Thanos to be a mutant different from the rest of the folks on Titan.
Obviously, this has been the case for many years, as we see in the Thanos Rising miniseries from a few years back by Jason Aaron and Simone Bianchi, where they showed his early years…

thanos-rising-2.jpg
thanos-rising-3.jpg

And when Jim Starlin had Adam Warlock explain Thanos’ whole deal to the Avengers in Avengers Annual #7, the fact that he is different from his father and brother is a notable thing…

Here, from Iron Man #55, we see Thanos and his father and brother…
eros-mentor-thanos.jpg

However, that Iron Man #55 drawing is from the REPRINTED version of Iron Man #55.
In the original story, here is Thanos and his family (as told by Drax the Destroyer when he tells Iron Man how he, Drax, came to be)…

So no, originally all of the Titans were purple like Thanos. The whole idea of Thanos being different-looking from the rest of the Titans was something that was developed later on and this is all just part of Marvel’s deal over the years where they would go back into old comic books and reprint them to reflect modern continuity, hence a number of reprinted versions of Iron Man #55 showing Starfox and Mentor with different color skin (thereby “fixing” the original comic).

I've caught up to X-Men Blue and ugh. It feels quite all over the place.well I kinda liked that Polaris is finally in the current team. Though Nightshade and Daken are new X-Men as well? There are so many new X-Men members this year and it feels too much. Like there's Honey Badger, Pyro, Ink and Trinary in the other titles. The time displaced o5 really needs to be done, at this point their story in space feels quite dead weight especially with the Mother vine/Havok & company/the new team/Marauders from the other universe all in 1 title. Like the o5 needs to take a rest for now until the major story arc is over. The last few issues have been too much for me and I got that information overload which made my brain hurt. Not good. I don't like this Mother vine story at all and its just like a rehash from Bunn's Uncanny X-Men and I just want it to be over.

Blue font is so much better. :)

I should have used this color for my X-Men Gold post.

Anyway, I plan to catch up to Red, PhoeniX Resurrection, Astonishing and Wedding in the neXt two weeks.but after binge reading Blue and Gold. I am more than ready for an overhaul, like they need to streamline these titles and not have a bunch of random be part of the team. Like I'm up for new members but will these newbies be around in the neXt year or two. Also the quality isn't very good. Like I read and I don't get eXcited reading the neXt issue that will come out in the neXt month.

I hope X-Classified is gonna launch the neXt status quo. I know its too early but God, this Gold-Blue-Red-Astonishing combo is just not very good as a whole. I feel like there's a big disconnect. Each book does their own thing without much repercussion and impact to the other books and it is so off putting. Especially with the return of X and PhoeniX. It feels like it didn't happen if you just read Blue and Gold which are the main two X-titles as they releases two issues per month. I don't know what's happening in Red so I can't give my opinion yet, but Astonishing feels a bit eXtraneous in the grand scheme of things despite having the professor back, the better line up and better quality. Like I took a break from reading comics after 2017 ended and just catching up to Blue/Gold this April, I am complaining about the same things again.

I don't have much opinions about the solos as Ican easily ignore them, though seeing the July issue list. I wonder what's their main reason for the new books for Domino, X-23, Legion and Multiple Man other than trying to cash in to current Fox shows/future Fox films (that may happen or not). Like I find it funny, that they coincidentally have issues for New Mutants, Gambit or those who have a film under development yet if Disney had the rights now, they wouldn't even be discussed.

The twist at the end of the latest AXM was so damn predictable. I called it 5 months ago. When its all said and done, Soule's run will be largely inconsequential other than making Psylocke look like an idiot

I still think Astonishing is a really good self contained story. Not everything needs to be deeply embedded in decades of continuity or change the status quo. I got someone into X-men comics through this Astonishing X-men run and he's still loving it. Soule's story is a limited run and it will be collected nicely in trades that are pretty accessible to all levels of X-men readers. We'll see if any writers are even interested in this cast after Soule is done.

X-men Gold is completely horrible. Guggenheim is doing real damage to Kitty and Colossus. Everyone else is getting wasted, but not ruined. This book needs a new writer ASAP.

Blue is the best it has ever been, even if I don't like this Mothervine stuff. This new team has breathed new life into the book and they really need to stick around. I don't like Mothervine because it's a rehash of the first X-men movie and the terrigen cloud stuff. I need to see a lot less power granting mists in comics, pls.

Gold and Blue leave a lot to be desired but I've been loving most of the solos and minis during this era. Phoenix Resurrection, Jean Grey, Iceman, Generation X, All New Wolverine, Rogue + Gambit, and New Mutants: Dead Souls have really carried the line to a higher level of quality and it sucks that a bunch of them are cancelled or ending (though the pill is a little easier to swallow for the minis). X-men Red is on a whole other level from the rest. I agree that the coordination between these stories has been very poor, but it hasn't stopped them from telling good individual stories.

The X-books have a new editor. I wonder how things will change.

Just finished Phoenix Resurrection and I've caught up to X-Men Red. Geez Phoenix Resurrection could have easily been 2-3 issues. The slow burn and it just leading to 1 serious talk between Jean and the Phoenix force is so anticlimactic. And of course it was obvious that no one was gonna die in this,so the sense of threat was quite not there.

I don't really like Jean's return lacks impact to the other xtitles. Even in X-Men Red, she is kinda on own team, coming up with her own squad and doesn't really interact with the other squads. The X-Men really feels divided and I don't like it. They are more like a corporation with different branches instead of 1 unit under the same HQ. The story of the hate machine, has been dome to death. It lacks originality. Honey Badger and Trinary could have been easily replaced by an under shown previous X-Women and made the roster more interesting. I still don't get why Gentle is in this. I like that they are using him but he has no purpose yet.

I just want to say how much I enjoyed the Rogue and Gambit mini. Good ending.

The book was about resurrection. There was never the threat that anyone was going to die in that mini. Marvel tease or imply that there would be a death

Jean's lack of impact is bc they rushed her return. Taylor didnt even know how PR was going to end when he started writing Red, hence the 2 month gap which keeps it self contained and isolated from everything else

I can't wait for the Red annual that will be about the aftermath of Phoenix Res. It comes out this month, I believe.

the fandom: yay the O5 are leaving
also the fandom: boo another alternate future

Good God, if they don't eXterminate the original five after that story arc...I'm just gonna... They have over stayed and despite getting their own title/cross overs, they just feel so unnecessary now. Its like they wanted to do something new when they transported them into the future but now its just "when are they gonna leave". The present day o5 is way more interesting given they had decades of stories under their belt.

I don't know if the Internet can contain the rage that would ensue if the O5 are still around after this...

If they dont send them back, then they at least need to start killing some of them off. Angel and Iceman especially are highly redundant. Jean too, but I want toi see her interact with her older self.

The O5 push sales. It wouldn't surprise me if they stay.

What? Gold and Astonishing continue to outsell Blue. While before ResurrecXion, Uncanny and eXtraordinary outsold All New. What is your basis for this "push sales" when their own book don't even sell more copies than the other core x-titles?

Didn't we just have a mutant apocalypse last year?

sigh
