World X-Men the Live Action TV Series, HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

I did read the thread, its just i think that after a while with the same five original it would be the same ol' story. But i do understand that new characters would come in later on in the show, but again I think by the time you add more characters it may hurt the show.

Possibly, or it might make the show the best on television, depends on how you do it.

I don't know why you think the five original would be the same old story, since, as far as TV and movies go, we've never EVER seen it. How can something we've never seen be the same old story?

Hmmm... I like some of the ideas here.

"Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters"

Main Cast
Charles Xavier - Idealistic, frustrated teacher, a bit too clever for his own good stometimes.
Scott Scummers - Introverted, moody, occasionally stands up and stands out.
Jean Grey - Obsessive Overachiever, loves school, a bit loose with her powers.
Warren Worthington - Arrogant, rich, preppy and supposedly shallow showboater
Hank McCoy - Surprisingly smart jock with a poet's heart. Not what he seems at all.
Bobby Drake - 14. All jokes with a mean temper and zero discipline.
Eric Lensherr - Fellow teacher, has revolutionary ideas. Becomes truly "evil" 2/3 through season 1.
Tessa - Attractive colleague and substitute teacher. Knows far too much too often, comes and goes.
Sheriff George Berkley - Westchester County Sheriff, grumpy, older, has plenty problems to complain about.
Valeria Cooper - Non Powered local resident. Tough, bratty, tomboyish.
Raven Darkholme - The sixth student, age is indeterminate.

Season 1
- Recruitment of First five students of the Mansion/School in a two-parter story.
- Slow descent of Eric from revolutionary to terrorist, the season starts with their first arguement.
- Exploring lots of different combinations of characters in different scenes and situations
- Paint Scott and Jean as philosophical rivals, despite Scott's one-way crush.
- A very put-out-the-fire Freak of the Week type thing as the kids travel to help other mutants who are just showing their abilities. Almost X-Files like sometimes in the way they investigate paranormal (mutant-caused) events.
- Culminates in newly dubbed Magneto organizing some of these into his brotherhood and starting full mutant panic with a masterful, intense attack.
- Recurring spots for Banshee, Havok, Moira McTaggert, Maximoff kids and Blob.
- Cameos for a lot of litte-known rarely used mutants in the MU as freaks-of-the week. Maggot for instance.

Season 2
- Add to the main cast, in the first four episodes: Ororo Munroe (bohemian-style nature chick). Piotr Rasputin (a generally well-balanced cool guy). Kurt Wagner (dark-loving corny joker), and finally the mysterious "Logan," badass and not watered down to be a pretty boy one little bit. Warren, Val, Sheriff and Raven turn recurring.
- Wolverine as a loose canon, not sure where he'll fall between X-Men and Brotherhood, not staying with them at all. He will hook up with Jean, however, but no one is enough to soften this hardened merc.
- Post-Magneto attack, build the Government as an antagonist. Bolivar Trask. Henry Peter Gyrich. Senator and Presidential Candidate David Kelly. A conscripted Forge, making Sentinels as the developing villains and "Master Mold" AI as the end of the year crisis as it grows out of originall well meaning government control.
- Sentinels done like the Robots on Dr. Who for those who think it's not doable.
- Recurring spots for Rogue (brought into brotherhood), Toad (Brohood wannabe), and those mentioned above.
- Beast leaves mansion to work for Government. Warren decides to pursue business after his father is killed.
- Guest Spot for Mimic and other one-shotable mutants.

Season 3
- Add to the main cast, Nathaniel Essex (incredible Geneticist and Government Advisor), Kate Pryde (between 10-13 yrs old), and Thunderbird (spirited, enthusastic, boombastic). Eric, Warren and Beast down to recurring.
- Discover the identies of the Hellfire Club's inner circle, many of whom have guest starred heretofore. Build them up as the main antagonists as they secretly move to take over the world, part of which involved getting President Kelly into the white house. Warren inherits a spot from his dad, in fact.
- Recurring spots for Betsy Braddock, Brian Braddock, Sebastian Shaw and those mentioned above.
- Sabertooth stars in this year's halloween episode and kills off Thunderbird, some townfolk and "kills" Wolverine.

Season 4
- Add to main cast Bishop (clever, underpowered underdog) and Cable (badass time lord),
- This is the slow degenration of everything over the course of the year, all leading up to the freeing of Apocalypse for the final episode of the series. Between Cable and Bishop (rivals) and surviving X-Men (think AoA), they manage to set back time to before Sinister sets the plans in motion and put the scientist down when they failed to at the beginning of Season 4. Most X-Men die over the course of the season, including returns by all the beloved X-Men so far.
- Guest Exiles
- Guest other Universes as easter eggs/cameos, ie Movie Universe, kids approximating Evolution, etc

Season 5
- Begin to get into mystery revolving around the Shi'ar.
- Crossover with Marvel Studios Films characters... an RDJ Iron Man Epi, an Ed Norton Hulk epi...
- Build up to earth being caught up in a big cosmic war, ie Shi'ar vs Skrull
- More of that X-files type investigation leading up to this
- Permanently introduce characters just shown as time-altered in season 4, depending on how well they were liked.

Season 6
- The Sci-fi Season
- The Phoenix Season
- Rival X-Men teams first introduced, Storm's team (Gold, the proactive activists) and Scott's team (Blue, the reactive superheroes)
- Brood Halloween epi

<<Still editing>>

Definitely on the right page here. The show would HAVE to be the fresh start of the x-men with the teen angst/heartthrob/drama of the original students, also throwing in other students here and there (some could be made up for the show I suppose). I really wouldn't expect it to follow too close to any sort of real stories or background of the X-Men, though.

I'd actually do a mix of New Mutants, Generation X, andNew X-Men.

those seasons ideas sound really good.

Definetly, the series should start like a drama, more than an action series. But of course, it should have some action moments, but I'd find more interesting to see a story, the development of the characters, the world where they live, unknown mutants with his own situation.... all this stuff.

***Beware, this will be a long post***

Station - HBO

Producers - Joss Whedon and Stan Lee all the way.

Main Cast
Xavier - Scott Glen http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001277/
Magneto - Paul McGann http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001524/
Beast/Hank McCoy - Micheal Shanks http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0788218/

Iceman/Bobby Drake - Max Thierot http://www.filmbug.com/db/343963

Notes - X-men should start off with the original five. The only change I'll make is having Beast be older and the First Field Leader while Scott deals with his inner problems.

Plots

Season One
- Main Story would be Magneto finding his first members of his new Brotherhood. And Setting a plan to hold the US ransom for the acquisition of Mutant rights.
- The Brotherhood would be Quicksliver, Scarlet Witch, Mastermind, and Toad.
- The season would explore the relationship between Charles and Erik. Should be as close to the comics as possible, and Erik should be kept as the person who paralyzed Xavier from the Ultimate series.
- Scott, and Warren would be after Jean, Warren being more aggressive than Scott, but Scott eventually getting the Girl.
- Beast would start off as Leader till season end when Scott finds enough confidence to set up to the role.
- Season ends with a large fight in a Nuclear Silo, X-men defeats the Brotherhood, who all are taken into custody by SHIELD (Nick Fury cameo)
New Cast
Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver - James Bamber http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0051397/
Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch - Morrena Baccarin http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1072555/
Jason Wyngarde/Mastermind - Richard Hatch http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0368745/
Toad - Andy Serkis http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0785227/
Nick Fury - Richard Dean Anderson http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000760/

Season two.
- The main plot of this season is how the government reacts to Magneto's attempts to hold them hostage. The Predsident grants Bolivar Trask(US Secretary of Defense) permission to go ahead with his project of building a Anti-Mutant weapon.
- Bolivar hires Dr. Nathaniel Essex who studies the Mutant Gene, and Donald Peirce to construct the Weapon. The end results are the Sentinel.
- I would have the Sentinels be no more than 7 feet tall. They would move around like Cylons.
- The X-men start to investigate Mutant dissappearances. Which eventually leads them to Bolivar Trask, who has a change in heart after witnessing Dr. Essex true plans for the Sentinels, and gives the X-men information that includes directions to camps that house the mutants the Sentinels have captured.
- At these camps, the X-men resuce many mutants, including Scotts brother Alex(becomes X-men), Lorna Dane(X-men), Jubilation Lee(student) and Kitty Pryde(student).
- Also they find and Fight somes mutants that have become brainwashed. Mimic(with the powers of the first five X-men), Unus, and the Blob.
- The season ending fight happens at the final Camp the X-men go to. There they witness Master Molds creation.
- Master Mold should be five feet taller then the other Sentinels. MM should command the entire Sentinel fleet.
- Essex escapes the X-men, but Killing Trask in the process.
New cast
Bolivar Trask - Jack Coleman http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0171059/
Dr. Essex - Cliff Simon http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0800101/
Donald Pierce - Michael C Hall http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0355910/
Alex Summers - Jesse James
Lorna Dane - Leah Pipes [URL="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1343254/"]
Kitty and Jubeliee should be Unknowns.

****will be continued****

Since You're working within a TV budget....the first thing I would do is get Tom Rothman as the Producer...because when it comes to cutting Costs & cheaping out on the budget...He's the Master!!:woot::whatever:

I would take a leap out of heroes and smallville's books and lead up to some big event.

Say Bishop is sent back in time to 2012 to stop the creation of the sentinel project but gets whipped back a few years earlier. instead he's there to witness the birth of the x-men.

However Cable is also sent back in time to stop Bishop otherwise his future will cease to exist and apocalypse will have no one to stop him and therefore will rule supreme.

The conflict of the two time travellers as well as the unravelling of the x-men team and the constant shift their interference causes to the timeline could be an interesting concept to deal with.

Apocalypse, Nimrod and Mr sinster would be the main antagonists of the show while we catch glimpses of magneto doing his thing every once in a while.

perhaps this is covering too much familiar ground but it does take great elements from the tas show, the terminator series, smallville and heroes which i believe is healthy.

The idea of two different time travellers with the ultimate goal to save their time while wiling to sacrifice the other's i belive is a concept not yet shown on television and could work very well, especially since different mutants would show differnet sorts of loyalty, Not to mention seeing how both characters fit into different timeframes...

bishop is more capable with blending in with society because he can remember what life was like when he was really young, Cable's life has been completely splintered from that. Bishop wouldn't be able to move round freely during xavier's youth because of his ethnicity while cable (with some outfit changes) would be easier to deal with that.

The joy of such a series would be seeing the characters at different stages in their lives and just like heroes and lost seeing the small iteractions they have with one another before they all come together.

Even getting originally good people to join the bad folks because ultimately they help become spies of the future to help bring down organisations or seeing both sets of travellers interact with their parents, knowingly or unknowingly.

That idea is totally BOSS! I don't think it could replace the feeling of seeing the early days of the X-Men, but as a season-arc, or as a a whole original show on its own, that would be totally awesome!

I love all your ideas.it would be great to see it!!
One thing who would play the characters?Id pick:

Emma Roberts as Shadowcat/Kitty Pride

A good point.

I would watch this show if it had actors 16-20.

I would not enjoy this show if it had actors 23-27 playing teenagers. I'm tired of it, I think it's a weak way to sell out when there are talented kids out there to be had. Let the adult characters (Charles, Eric, Moira, Sheriff, villains) have the adult storylines. Let the teens be teens... they'll be growing up fast anyway... might as well have them be young at first.
