X3 Gossip from an informal chat with the FX supervisor

Too expensive to do the Phoenix flame and yet, the film cost upwards of 200 million to make. Interesting....

I feel like a lot of the budget must have gone to the actors, and a great deal of the money was probably wasted due to the overall poor production. It was also mentioned that more wirework and stunts were used for this film to keep costs down: but then if the computerized effects were less then X2, where did the money go?

Mostly it would have been the actors.

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen probably took up 30 million. Throw in Halle Berry, Kelsy Grammar and the other main ten names, and you're probably pushing 100 million.

So he basically he said that Stewart could come back in X4, but he doesn't know about Cyclops?

I'm assuming the resurrection of Prof X is "for the fans"....but am I the only fan who would have preferred Cyclops back? Prof X actually seemed like a fitting death

Yes, thats what I think he meant. The very last scene was put there purely for the purpose of an X4 (with Patrick Stewart), and when we asked if Jean would come back he said something like "No!, Jean's dead and buried. Both her and Bobby died!" For a brief second we were confused as Bobby was Iceman...who lived...but he meant Scott.

No, I think a lot of people, myself included, would have preferred Cyclops to come back, or better yet, to have never died in the first place. I agree that Xavier's death is more fitting, and serves the plot much moreso than Cyclops'.

I don't know. Then again, it depends on how people will react to X3 and Cyclops' death. If people can make some noise, then maybe Cyclops can return in X4.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I remembered when Zelda: The Wind Waker was first released. It had this Saturday Morning cartoon look, with simplistic designs for that game. Nintendo stood by their artisitc merits, despite some mixed emotions from fans.

And look at the new Zelda game: It's darker and grittier. They gave in.

Look at the Hulk. People complained about the CGI and the 'Shakespearian' drama. And now with the sequel, Marvel even stated that they will add more action and less drama. They gave in.

Anything can happen at this point, really. We just have to make a STAND and say something..

Your optimism is encouraging...but I feel like the battle has already been lost.

I've been very hard on this movie, crappymovie. Honestly, I don't like some of the choices they made (The Cure subplot, Juggernauts' look, No Gambit, Lack of Cyclops, too many characters, No Sentinals), but what's done is done now.

Trust me, if you read some of my posts from yesterday, I was HARD on this movie. But I need to see it first, so my view on the movie is more legit. I was just angry at the direction of X3, period. I do feel, however, that this will be the weakest of the three BUT it can be a decent addition.

But we'll see. I might be seeing it tonight..

*** FF2 will have the silver surfer but he was worried as the studio was rushing to get it out ( he had the same misgivings for X 3 but was surprised at how it came out.

***Cykes should return for X4, there will be an X4.

If you're not yanking everyone's chain then these are scoops of the century! Nice job!

Well Antony definately did speak to John Bruno, as I was there, I spoke to him as well. Of course, I wasn't buying him drinks so he didn't tell me anything major, just about Phat and the twin thing!

When you have a social drink with someone you can get a lot out of them. He said a lot more than that

Mate did you enjoy the movie, I loved it even though it was badly paced and short. I dint see you, sorry but I read you met John. You should have stuck around in the hotel bar as we chatted for 1 1/2 hours.

I did like the film very much, my main complaint was the length of the film. I really lacked a middle to it I think. It could have been me, could have been the actual screen, but did you think it was a bit blurry in places?

I couldn't really hang around, we had a train to catch, we got soaked going to the station, and only just made it!

The PR girls were nice, we had drinks before everyone turned up! Did you get that press pack thing? The character one that folded out?

X4 isnt even confirmed yet so I find it strange how a visual effects artist can confirm this stuff...

You know why? He was DRUNK.. I tell ya. He sounded drunk when he couldn't get "Scott's" name right...

So wait....one guy says that bruno said scott will be in x4, but another says bruno claimed scott was dead as hell.

ok maybe no phoenix flame but was still as damn good movie. Yes it had flaws but overall great.

plus there were a few phoenix bits i noticed. I noticed a bird like screech at one point, apparently the glass formed at jeans house was phoenix shaped and at the end, it may have just been the lighting but i thought her hair almost looked on fire, and one last thing, at times jean face looked a litte bird shaped, might have just been me. There were deffinatly some bits of phoenix in there!

Sorry for not telling you guys but my source e-mailed me this morning. Because I had to work all day and went to see X3 again I can say that we "might" get a Phoenix Firebird during the final battle.

Read my last posts in both the reviews threads for a small summary

He wouldn't have been drunk when he spoke to me, it was straight after the film! He moved onto the bar afterwards, where he met Antony.

John Bruno was more than a 'visual effects artist'. He was the Visual Effects Supervisor with his name in big letters onscreen, and an Academy Award or two.

You really think Patrick and Ian got paid that much?

I am pretty sure Hugh and Halle got paid the most, with Ian, Patrick, Famke and Kelsey following.

Hi all...I saw X 3 again today and there isnt a bloody poenix bird in it.. some guy here said there might be? If the FX Cheif says there aint then there aint.
