X3 in the press - The Official Magazines thread

I'm not sure how long this will go on but X3 is still appearing on the cover of new magazines.

STARLOG Magazine #348

The Hugh interview is pretty interesting. He says he wants the "Wolverine" movie to have a more independent feel, and talks about the excess of the X3 set (and reiterates the coffee-drink specialist story about X2).

Mei Melancon has one hell of a publicist, she was barely in the damn movie and she's done so many magazines for it! I'm sure the average movie goer doesn't even know who she was in the film. :p

September 2006 - Premiere Magazine

Looking mighty hot actually!

Yeah, I was pretty psyched to get that one in the mail. :)

Like LMason said, it's a good interview. The X3 talk stemmed from a question about working with Christopher Nolan on "The Prestige,"--how Nolan was thrilled to work on a smaller film after "Batman Begins," and Hugh felt the same way having just finished X3. He'd like to have that same smaller atmosphere for the "Wolverine" movie.

I got my copy of Premiere in the mail yesterday and i agree its a really good interview. He mentions something about the excessiveness on X3, like the trailer park (think 40+ trailers) which was bigger than the actual set! Also he goes in to detail on how he prepared for The Fountain and how filming went with that. Really interesting stuff.

I've been saying the same thing. It should be noted though a lot of the footage she shot ended up on the cutting room floor.:down

Speaking of The Fountain, it's going to film festivals in September so there should be lots of comments on it:

Venice - Sept. 4
Deauville - Sept. 7
Toronto - Sept. 12
Fantastic Fest - end of September.

Retro, you've gotta tell me your secret dude...How the heck do you find all of these?

I just want to see "The Fountain" even more every time I read about it.

There was also a funny comment regarding a scene in "The Prestige" where his and Christian Bale's characters do nothing to stop a "catastrophic" event on stage, and him thinking that here's Batman and Wolverine standing around and not doing anything about whatever was going on... :p

Yeah that was funny.

BTW Aronofsky is a pretty demanding director. A real perfectionist with details and he pushed Hugh to the absolute limit for some of the emotional scenes.
