Almost as good as Daddy Day Camp :o

Direct to DVD sequel of an Eddie Murphy Movie.....nuff said

unpopular opinion 2318: i always thought robin williams oscar win was well-deserved.

I never did see it, but I thought that it perfectly reflected the Academy's disdain for comedy movies. I guess because it's easier to give us something we don't understand (at which we laugh) than something we can sympathize with.

it was
flashing boobies = oscar glory.
sometimes. but Holocaust movies really = Oscar glory!
that's because Button= Forest Gump Part 2
except Forest Gump sucks and Button is awesome. Fincher is the ****! Pitt didn't deserve the nomination though. neither did Jolie. whoops! did i speak out against the power couple? my bad.

I don't nessisarily like him all the time, but he was good in that movie.
I don't love, I don't hate.

Pitt and Jolie were nominated for the factor or more Star power in the nominees.
I hate how essentially everything has become about them...once they show up on red carpets everybody else is basically ignored :whatever:

So this place is swamped with Oscar fever, huh? How unexpected.

I actually wasn't going to watch them, but then I caught the first award and was all "Hmm... what an interesting set." So I kept watching. And it was great.

Button is sooo similar to Forest Gump though?

um. forrest is my favourite guilty pleasure movie. :O mmm, crazy gary sinise.

not really. Slumdog is similar to a Charles Dickens story. The Wrestler is similar to Rocky.

loose connections are found in ANY work of art. Button wasn't sappy and sentimental and god-awful. therefore, not Forest Gump 2.

Plus the same guy wrote it... they're both kind of just cheap nostalgia

Button isn't cheap nostalgia. and the events in Button and Gump don't happen in the same order they appear in that joke. also, Button is based on a short story. and Gump is based on a novel. Gump isn't about anything. it's literally about his wanderings and how he just so happens to fall into historical events. Button never becomes a war hero, actively participates, and is about the transcience of life, death, love, and joy.

they're superficially similar, but vastly different.

again, this is like pointing out that Slumdog is a Charles Dickens story dressed up in modern Indian ghetto garments. there's no such thing as an original storyline. we've got about four or five that we recycle constantly. it's just how well you tell them.
****ing a!

i don't care what the haters say, but alien 3 was great. yeah. i said it. :cmad:
good in theory, lackluster in studio tampering and execution.

I think that both movies try to tug on the heartstrings of the American public by using historical events... I like Gump better though :o

There should have been more love for Rev Road. :cmad:

REV ROAD. :cmad:

The opening was easily one of the best parts in Oscar history. Hugh Jackman :inlove:

there's a difference between a good adaptation (L.A. Confidential, Atonement) and a terrible one (Revolutionary Road, The Black Dahlia, countless others).

Revolutionary Road failed on a lot of levels. the book is much, MUCH better. deeper. more powerful. much more depressing and moving. and it explains to you why April is so emotionally unstable, Frank is such a chicken****, and the true dynamics of their relationship and why Paris is just another improbable dream in a long list of failed/improbable dreams.

dare not speak of that movie in my presence! :cmad:

READ THE BOOK!
