WHY ARE THEY SHOWING 3 OLD GAMES?

Hilariously, having never played Pro Evo in the past before, or indeed, any other football game, I took on a friend who was a long time player of the game, who considered himself to be somewhat skilled, and wound up winning on my first go, albeit via penalties.

How I laughed.

The smug smile was later wiped of my face when for the first time ever, he beat me at Tekken 5, using the cheap little button bashers delight of a skank that is Christie.

Grrr.

They have started, they just only have a few people doing it. It will soon go full-on, with many more people doing things to help out.

THAT'S BECAUSE IT WAS 'NINTENDO'. YOU NEED TO REALIZE, JUST LIKE 'MS', THAT THE JAPANESE ARE LARGELY AGAINST THE U.S., AND THE JAPANESE GAMING MARKET IS LARGELY AGAINST 'MS'.....AND PRO-SONY/NINTENDO. I HATE TO BE SO BLUNT, BUT IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE.
THE 'MS' BOOTH AT 'TGS' WILL BE A GHOSTTOWN, COMPARED TO THE 'SONY' AND 'NINTENDO' BOOTHS. 'X06' IS 'MS' ONLY REAL CHANCE TO SHINE BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS.

Look at the games that the Japanese have been given so far on the Xbox/Xbox360, the advertising, etc. Until recently, the Japanese have had no reason to support the brand because there has been nothing but Team Ninja games to play, it would be like Nintendo releasing a console that was nothing but Dating Sims/Horseracing games....and then the occasional FPS. Now though, Microsoft has Mistwalker doing 3 exclusive RPGs (their favorite genre), one of which (blue dragon) has been on Famitsu's top ten most wanted since it's announcement, they have Capcom doing good looking exclusives, they have an exclusive game from Square-enix (project slyphseed or whatever it's called), an exclusive Tri-Ace RPG, and five Team Ninja games, and stuff like Viva Pinata and whatever else gets ported. I'm not saying the 360 will come out ahead of Wii and PS3 in Japan, it won't, but it's not going to be the huge failure that it's been so far. I'd say 4-5 million sold by the time xbox720 comes out.

I HONESTLY DON'T SEE THAT HAPPENING. IF ANYTHING, I THINK THE (LIKELY) FAILURE OF THOSE GAMES IN JAPAN, WILL BRING AN ABRUPT END TO THIS "EXPERIMENT" THAT A FEW JAPANESE DEVS ARE DOING WITH THE '360'. IF THERE HAVEN'T BEEN AT LEAST 1 MILLION UNITS SOLD THERE WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR, YOU'LL SEE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE "EXCLUSIVES" EITHER CANCELLED, OR PORTED TO THE PS3 AND/OR WII. THAT WOULD BE THE ONLY LIKELY WAY THEY COULD HOPE TO RECOVER THEIR DEV COSTS, AND POSSIBLY TURN A PROFIT. 4-5 MILLION IS A PIPE DREAM.......ONE THAT I DOUBT EVEN THE 'MS' CAMP IS FOOLISH ENOUGH TO BELIEVE IS ATTAINABLE.

WE'LL SEE.....BUT I'M NOT WASTING OPTIMISM ON A CYNICAL, HYPOCRITICAL COUNTRY LIKE JAPAN.

Well, I have seen the demo of Lost Odyssey in action. The game is so very grown-up and pieced together with such seamless virtuousity that I really don't know what to say. I'm impressed as I've ever been with a videogame. It is beautiful. I'm about as excited about it now, as a fully functioning (really), independent adult, as I was excited about Final Fantasy VII as a college student, as I was about Final Fantasy IV as much younger man. I look forward to this game.

Seeing (and playing) is believing, and I am a believer in Lost Odyssey. My immediate judgment is a belief that it will sell this console to at least a million Japanese gamers. And Microsoft must think so too –it’s going to make sure this game is everywhere. It will be featured most prominently at the company’s booth at Tokyo Game Show, and, if its promise to host all show-floor demos on Xbox Live holds true, that should mean this game's demo will be available for download next Wednesday night.

This should sell systems, easy. And, I don't know if anyone noticed, but the Xbox360 actually has more games at TGS than the PS3 or the Wii, at least according to the IGN list. Japan isn't as doom and gloom as it was last time.
