Sequels X4 - points and threads...

I really like the recent Star Trek movie in that it made every crew member serve a purpose...even the characters that might have been considered comic relief. I wish the X-Men movies were more like that instead of having characters that don't get any lines or anything to do.

What happened in X3 is somewhat vague. Yes, Xavier thinks Cyclops is dead, but that could just be because Jean thinks he is. Cyclops could be dead, or he could have survived. I don't like the whole "Maybe she blew him into the forest thing". I'd like to have seen Emma Frost have whisked his consciousness away psychically for some purpose or...something. An X4 could deal with Cyclops/Jean and the Hellfire Club, among other storylines (Essex/Sinister).

Wanting Wolverine just to be "away" so he has a smaller role is silly and kind of lazy. Wolverine is a member of the X-Men traditionally, and there's no way he'd have just up and left the mansion after his fairly clear character development in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.

The Cure is pretty clearly potentially temporary. Which is a great metaphor.

Velvet Onion, some of that script/plot description really sounds like wishful thinking on your part. Unless Cyclops somehow was to die onscreen and then came back in the script to...die again. If you have proof otherwise, I'd love to see it.

I wrote parts of X4 and X5 scripts a year and a half ago. X4 was basically "The hunt for Xavier, Cyclops and Jean" (Which gave Wolverine some emotional motivation) after initial incidents, with The Hellfire Club and Sinister as villains. Gambit was working for/with Essex, he hooked up with Rogue, Collossus, Iceman, and Angel got more development, as did Kitty. Storm was the leader of the gold team, Wolverine the blue team. Would have been cool.

Apocalypse would show up in X5, and this arc could easily work as the "second trilogy" in the franchise, with Magneto essentially playing a pseudo ally role with the X-Men, but having his own agendas. Sentinels could show up in some capacity, and be fully realized in X5, or X6 would be a pseudo adaption of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST/AGE OF APOCALYPSE, with Cable, etc.

I don't know how true that is . The team usually all have a moment. I would like to see more battles though. The one at the end of X-men 3
was a step in the right direction at least.

I don't really consider throwing Wolverine at people to be that great a function for Colossus. Nor is Rogue doing nothing except whining and never doing anything to help the X-Men team throughout an entire movie. Nor is Cyclops doing anything except waking up a side villain in the story and getting himself blown up.

I think there is a very big difference in how Star Trek treated it's characters compared to how the X-Films, especially X3, treated it's characters. Even in X2, you still had guys like Iceman who didn't have any big scene unless throwing some ice on a dude Pyro lit on fire is a big scene. The battle of the mansion could have had Rogue, Iceman, and Pyro kicking butt (especially Rogue, she needed it), but they wanted to have mostly Wolverine kicking butt with a minor cameo for Colossus kicking butt.

I think Cyclops should be brought back. Even though I have never been a fan of the character, the X-men only make sense with him in the ranks. Fox could do like the animated series where Morph was killed in the sentinel attack. Professor X couldnt sense Morph's consciousness in the series but Sinister brought him back. I think they could do something similar with Cyclops and would also be a smooth transition to introduce another villain besides Magneto which is starting to get played out.

You americans and your proof... Ha ha, sorry was watching Harvey Birdman...

No the stuff i read on X-Men The Last Stand was a mixture of old interviews, dvd commentary and interviews... i had the region 2 verson which apparently had slight different special features. plus i e-mailed a few people that either filmed a cameo and so forth, i did actually surprising enough get a response from Brett Ratner... but that was a question more around Gambits role and what he thought on Avalanche, Blob would he had put them in it...

The story with Cyclops was thus, he was always going to die in that movie for impact. What changed his story was the actor James Madsen commitment because he was limited to what he could do.

The original story called for Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine discovering Jean at Alkali Lake, alive. Because Jean has become mentally the Phoenix she is attracted more to wolverine that cyclops so there was some rivalry. However when he meet with Jean at alcatraz parts of Jean comes through. i cant remember if Cyclops was ment to be atomized at alcatraz or in new york. but what confirms part of this story is that the fight scene at alcatraz where the x-men come together to fight was one of the first scenes ever shot and James Masden filmed some scenes that night... one photo was leaked leading speculation at the time. There has been no deleted scene footage but i believe this to be true as the final draft of the script was not finalised until after filming had began...

Apparently the scenes of cyclops fighting in alcatraz had Cyclop's intro, which he stands at the top of the building and fires his optic blast into the sky, mimicing the cartoon intro, as was Beasts Intro and Storms were done in the same way. Other scenes included Cyclops taking on Psylocke but Psylocke is thrown aside by Phoenix who gains concious as jean and saves scott, Psylocke is then joined by quills and archlight to go get warren cnr, the final scene had cyclops doing to walk of pain to talk to Jean as she is atomizing everything. which i guess is where he dies.

Im not sure Alcatraz scene being the first scene ever shot for X-men 3 is necessarily true. I live in Vancouver (where X-men 3, and X2 were shot) and reports from that set (and Danger Room set, housed in the same outdoor lot), which was set up on Marine drive on South Vancouver were not picked up on until later on in the production.

Or it could be possible that we did not learn of that shooting location much later. I think it would really help if you can find that picture of Scott in that Alcatraz set. I actually would really like to see it, if indeed there was one.

Well , most of the characters are still in their young stage . I would like to see them kicking butt , that's for sure . I understand why things have been limited thus far.

Actually none of these X-films have come close to matching my exprectations. I've learned to just accept them for what they are. They use the characters to create a good story.

Well what do you want, the X-Men universe is too convoluted to have a 100% translation to the silver screen.

I understand your theory but it wouldnt work...

Cyclops was already the leader of a team, the new team was supersided by a leader of wolverine and storm... Cyclops doesnt need to re-establish himself. But i can see why you would say that... Personally if i was to look at it from the star trek remake, id say Cyclops was the spock and kirk was the wolverine...

If we as fans are truely honest, what majority of us want is a direct translation from the 90's cartoon only with a slightly modified story which would better detail the past five x-men, how the new x-men came about...
