hmm...Will Ferrell seems fine to me.

I mean god, it's 'Yogi Bear.' If it was something I deep down truthfully cared for, I'd say stay away from him...but in this case, I think he would work.

they really need Yogi Bear to sound like Yogi Bear, not a celebrity comedian or whatever.

Agreed; that's exactly why I couldn't get much into the 'Garfield' movies.

Sadly, Garfield's voice was the least of that movie's problems...

I didn't read the first post. I'm just gonna go ahead and guess.

CGI bears.
Live people.

Am I right?

You know how movie producers always say how difficult it is to make money because so many movies fail ...? It's hard to have any sympathy for them when they greenlight projects like this.

Did they not see Scooby Doo? The Flintstones? Rocky and Bullwinkle?

Well, the first two were blockbusters. Rocky and Bullwinkle wasn't.

Who wants to bet they're gonna bling-ify Yogi and Boo Boo?

They should do a Spike Jonze and make Yogi and Boo Boo Jim Henson style puppets with CGI faces. Screw it, let him direct it as well! At least it'll be funny.

But then it woudln't come out for 8 years :csad:

I don't know what the **** is taking Jetsons so long. There have been many movies that have already looked to be Jetsons-like..The Fifth Element, the diner scene in Ep. II: AOTC, etc. Just do it already, it would make a mint.
It would seem like a perfect time to make a Jetsons.I've been wanting this for years.I don't think Yogi needs a live action movie though.Neither does Tom and Jerry.

Well, the first two made money. And the Flintstones pulled off that world pretty well{as did Scooby 2}. Though it better not be like that last one. Whie I consider it a guilty pleasure, it is a bad movie...

Massive thread bumpage due to cast announcement:

http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/11/05/anna-faris-dan-aykroyd-justin-timberlake-cast-in-yogi-bear/

Entertainment Weekly has learned that Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake are in talks to star in the hybrid live-action/computer animated feature based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear. The big screen 3D movie is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth), from a screenplay by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs). What characters will Faris, Aykroyd and Timberlake play? Details after the jump.

* Faris will play a live-action character named Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker who is trying to film Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.
* Aykroyd will voice the computer animated Yogi, the lovable Jellystone Park bear who is notorious for his attempts at stealing picnic baskets from campers, much to the displeasure of Park Ranger Smith.
* Timberlake will voice the computer animated Boo-Boo, a bow-tied bear cub who acts as Yogi’s constant companion and conscience.

Park Ranger Smith has yet to be cast, but I assume he would be played live-action.Lets just hope someone like Will Ferrell doesn’t fall for this paycheck trap. The film will begin filming next month in New Zealand. Warner Bros is aiming for a December 17th 2010 release.

Is it really a trap if it's a paying job? Integrity don't mean **** if you gotta eat.

hmm dan is a good choice i dont know about timberlake as boo boo.

I'm not quite sure there is much more left to ruin from my childhood.

:csad:

please hollywood stop using stars for voicework. there are people who have experience and are good at voicework. give them work and the paycheck.

it makes me wonder if the director of Yogi knows of the reputation for live action cartoon movies? Maybe he wants to improve it...or maybe not.

I say make Yogi as cartoony looking as possible. Bears in real life aren't that charming looking so don't even bother, Hollywood. Maybe they all need to wear neckties and hats.

Chipmunks have beady black eyes, but they gave Alvin and the rest human-like ones. Bears have actual irises and what not so it won't look AS jarring. The hat and windsor knot will.
