"You ready for another Bout?"- The Thor/Chris Hemsworth Thread

The new suit really is outstanding. The flap at front, or the loin cloth or whatever is a very great touch and Hemsworth has the height and presence to putt it off.

Agreed. I liked all his costumes so far, but the production team and costume designers have continued to improve on it with each film. I think the T:TDW costume is the best yet!

Yep it is the best costume. And he also looks really buff now in the costume, the fit is indeed very good.

If there's one thing that I'm not the biggest fan of, it's the design of his boots. I definitely liked the design of his boots from his first film's costume better than the one in the Avengers and this one.

I just went back to check out his boots, which I didn't really notice before. I like them. They are kind of evocative of his boots in the comics, in that they have a sort of "knee flap" coming up. Of course, that's pretty much where the similarities end.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about his Avengers boots, but I wasn't nuts about the asymmetrical design from the first film (it doesn't really bother me, but if I'm taking the time to compare the three designs, that's my least favorite).

I was just thinking about the boots and I just realized I haven't really paid that much attention to them in any of the films so far. Have to check them up. :funny:

I suspect Asgardian garb, at least for the likes of Thor, is something that can be reconfigured by the wearer.

I wish that they at least had tried to keep with the overall design of Thor's comic book boots. Not a break or make thing really, it just makes things closer to source material for me.

The boot designs from the comic books would be impractical for a real person to wear, particularly in an action film.

Yeah, like I was saying above, I think these are the closest we've gotten to the comic boots in spirit, but they have been reworked for the movie (like the rest of the costume) to fit in the "real" world.

It is a really nice redesign. I have to say of all the costumes the ones for this movie look like the best so far. There's so much attention to detail in them.

Agreed, mate. One of the best superhero costumes in film, imo.

I love how the lightning glints off his plastic armour :o :cwink: :woot:

Oh, I really hope that we get some awesome flying shots of Thor. I have yet to see one Marvel film that fully utilizes that skill of his, let alone filming the sequence in a impressive way.

Hell, I'd like to see Thor flying and taking out those smaller spaceships that seem to belong to the larger one that Malekith seemingly owns.

^ Yeah I'd love to see a few large scale flight scenes from Thor this time around, they've definitely been missing so far. When I found out there was going to be smaller ships along with the "Ark" I've hoped to see Thor flying through the air taking them out.

The new costume is insanely good. I love it. Easily Thor's best look yet. I'm a big fan of Branagh's film but, at the very least, Alan Taylor has improved the visuals dramatically.

I hope Thor:TDW takes general audiences to school on just how powerful and badass he is. I remember people being shocked when Thor stopped the Hulk's fist blow. I'm like "Duh... he's Thor". And we all know Thor would've mopped the floor with Iron Man - please.

I also agree that we need some more flying stunts. I even want to see him throw the hammer while he's flying just to demonstrate how that all works.

On another note, am I the only one who's worried that Marvel might focus too much attention on Loki at the expense of Thor? I only say this because of the news about reshoots in an effort to add more Loki scenes based on the Hiddleston's reception at Comic-Con. I mean Todd is great and all but so is Chris. He was the best part of Star Trek and Rush is getting rave reviews. And this is Thor's movie after all. I feel the first Thor was too short and we all know the Odinson got the shaft on screen time in Avengers, so to me TDW should be his chance to really shine.

Agreed on everything.:word:

I have a strong feeling this shot is going to be in the actual movie.

I'm pretty sure that's already in the trailer, just a different angle.

I'm not worried. Marvel didn't make Avengers into "Iron Man & friends", and theoretically they had more reason to do that than they would have to make Dark World into The Loki Show.

Hemsworth talks Thor!

You had to shed the muscle weight you gained for The Avengers and lose 30 pounds before you started shooting Rush. As Ron Howard puts it, "Thor could never fit in an F1 car." How did you do it?
It was pretty brutal. I've said it before, but my wife [Elsa Pataky] was pregnant at the time and I had more symptoms of a pregnant woman than she did. I was moody and hungry all the time. I understood addiction for the first time, to be honest. I immediately knew what it is like to be truly at the mercy of something. Literally, food was the last thing I thought about before I went to bed and the first think I thought about when I woke up. I ate very little protein and carbohydrates. And then I'd just run to sweat it off.

Are you getting tired of playing Thor?
No, as long as I get to squeeze in other things and do stuff in between that inspires me, which I'm managing to do. To be part of something that people love -- whether it's Thor on his own or Thor in The Avengers -- is a chance you get once in your career, if at all. I'm not going to complain about it, certainly, but it's a challenge each time you do it because you don't want to fall into just Thor, just being a two-dimensional character.

Yeah, they're just exploring a very interesting (and popular) element from Thor's universe. Not many movie heroes have a villain who's that good and whose relationship with the main character has so much potential.

I just want Chris to look a bit more angry, if that's from the film. Every single comic you see Thor in, where he's in the sky summoning lightning like this, he either looks angry, or looks like he is trying to destroy his vocal chords. And it's epic.
