Your favorite Die Hard movies?

There are a few older polls of these, but now we can officially add the fourth film to it.

As the question begs, which Die Hard flicks did you enjoy/like?

I like the original Die Hard best. I think Die Hard 2 is unfairly maligned, and Die Hard 3 overrated and lacking in charm, though it does have some wonderful set pieces and some memorable lines from Samuel L. Jackson.

DH1 is really the best, but I do like all of them. IMO Hans is one of the best villains in film history, with the initial meeting between him and McClane being one of my favorite parts of the movie.

I havent seen Live Free or Die Hard yet, but so far my favorite is Die Hard With a Vengeance. I like the scrambling around New York, the chemistry between Jackson and Willis and Jeremy Irons is always a great villain. t:

My only problem is that I still dont understand the riddle at the water fountain. How did they manage to fill the jug perfectly?

Only die hard and with a vengence truly capture the die hard spirit.

The rest, and Live free I'm guessing are just Die Hard in name only with one having a naked guy in it.

Tough to choose between the original and Vengeance for me. I'd almost certainly put the first at the top of my list if it weren't for that one scene in DH4 with the cab in the park.

The first is still the best. I'd say DHWAV and LFODH are even, as both were excellent efforts to capture the spirit of the original. All three of them have great characters, great stories, great special effects and are just damn entertaining.

Die Hard 2 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It has no heart, the pacing is so slow, the villian is awful, Willis is phoning it in, and the film is quite simply a Steven Segall stinker with the Die Hard name attached to it.

Die Hard IS the best because its a unique action film. HOWEVER, I wouldn't call it my favorite. I enjoyed Die Hard with a Vengence a lot more. It's a really, really fun movie. As for Live Free or Die Hard...I'd say its almost a tie with Vengence. Now, what about Die Hard 2? That movie just sucked. Its basically the first Die Hard but at an airport!

I've seen 1,3,and 4. So far the first is the only one not to make my head hurt. So the Die hard is the only one I like.

Die Hard is good but I like the scope of Vengence. Live Free or Die Hard is similar to Vengence, but Justin Long is inferior to Sam Jackson.

Third for me, the frantic race around new york, bruce and sam's chemistry, irons, all awesome.

The first is next as willis and rickman are awesome, but lacks the bite of the third.

#3 is a GREAT reason why it took so long to make #4. after the 3rd film everyone thought the franchise was dead.

Well, I don't think I saw the first Die Hard in its entirety until sometime last year, and when I had seen it in parts before, it was usually on edited television. But yeah, it really is just a great action movie, and I'd definitely say it's the best. But With a Vengeance is my personal favorite. The scope of it is great, and the chemistry between Willis and Jackson is damn near flawless. As much as I loved McClane as the loner hero, I really liked seeing him with someone to play off of.

Too bad DHWAV was almost the highest grossing movie of 1995 (worldwide).
It lost to Toy Story by less than 800 dollars. I can guarantee you that "bad taste" and the "franchise was dead" is nothing more than a personal opinion.
