The actual hardware is more expensive, on top of paying an extra data plan every month. Which is usually about $50 a month. I completely understand if people don't want to pay that much money.

$30 unless you're with Sprint. Unless you're still playing Solitaire on your 4/5 year old Dell desktop, most folks should be interested in smartphones.

Virgin Mobile will be carrying the iPhone on no-contract plans. Just need to get by the $600-700 initial price tag.

But either way.. it's expensive. $50 a month with Virgin, plus that initial cost is almost the same if you go with a carrier.
