Why does this not apply to any of the big guys that Vince likes?
Possible reason? Vince see the top face for the men's roster as the tent pole around which everything else spins, and believes that tent pole must be an exact size and shape and fulfilling the exact same functions as the previous tent poles. And since Vince simultaneously undersells his own talent while saying that they don't want to reach for the brass rings, he still doesn't think they have a true tent pole guy ready to go, I.e., his idea of what Roman should be, and so he feels he has to protect him and squeeze him I tot he same mold as everyone else.
And yeah, the Styles and Shane story isn't necessarily pushing the illogical bounds of WWE, but having his assault on Shane occur literally within the same frame as Orton's antics and everything else highlights the stupidity of it. If Styles is supposed to be the loose cannon heel to Shane's authority face, it falls apart because it looks like the authority figures are as thin skinned as Donald Trump in regards to Shane, but utterly uncaring about everyone else. Having Styles explicitly point this out just highlights that problem.
