:awesome: I know those moments!

And yes, Parallel Lives was how we learned how MJ knew. I thought it was a little far fetched myself, but it still wasn't on the order of ignoring that Pete & MJ got married. As eek pointed out, MJ knowing (or Pete since ASM#150 was a clone, if they went that route) was adding prviously ubknown info. This single Pete asks us to blatantly ignore an event we saw with our own eyes.

It's not previously unknown info. MJ clearly didn't know. There are too many instances when her reactions were not realisitc if she knew Peter was Spider-Man, such as those I listed above, or TMOB's example from MTU (I have those issues as well). It's backpedalling on the level of Aunt May saying she always knew in ASM #400, even though in ASM #114-115 she nearly killed Spidey twice, to protect Doc Ock of all things.

While I'm totally against OMD/BND they at least present an event to cause the marriage to cease to exist.

No Aunt May is different.
She said she always knew, yes, but, she also said she denied her self really knowing, she repressed the memory (kind of) so that she wouldn't constantly worry about it.
Besides that Aunt May (if she was real) would've only started to know around issue 200 when the burglar came back.
I've never read Parallel Lives, but i remember reading that MJ knew Pete from the begining...

It is the same. A retcon is a revamp. "What you've read didn't happen- this did".

Secondly, that explanation makes OMD read like Shakespeare. And it's moronic writing like that that make retcons an abomination. Moreover, there's never a good reason for it. ASM #400 would have been far better if Peter simply manned-up and told May the truth. And there's nothing to suggest that she learned after ASM #200. She says that she had to have known living with Peter, which means she'd hae learned before Peter moved out, which was in ASM #46.

But regardless. there's a right and wrong way to handle this stuff. When Captain Stacy, while dying reveals he knew Peter's secret, it was well done. There had been numerous subtle hints that he suspected Peter's secret. So when he tells Peter, it makes sense. Not so with MJ having always known. Again, i have no problem with her figuring it out. But it was unconvincing and totally unnecessary to make her have known from he beginning.

Throughout the years, it comes off as Robbie Robertson possibly having a clue to Peter's dual life...

:yay:

^ I haven't seen that lately, but there was a time where I always expected a Robbie eye raise...

Actually, Robbie did think that he knew... I'll post the pages...
For a while, i didn't understand his reaction, then i read a mini, and it finally made sence...

This is his reaction to seeing Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the same room at the same time.
I always though his expression was odd as at the time, i thought he thought that they were 2 different people. From Spider-Man Unlimited vol.1 #14:

Then after years, I found the last 3 issues of Spider-Man: The Final Adventure and everything made sense:
Spider-Man: The Final Adventure #'s 2,3 4:

I don't think Robbie knowing Peter's secret was something that really needed to be brought out into the light. It's one of those behind the scenes things, such as a glance or curve of the brow. To me it's just a nice treat to have a character that probably knows the truth, but has no purpose or desire to reveal it; it just works.

I'm surprised the clone saga isn't on here. Up until that point continuity was for the most part stable, but after that everything started falling apart with characters coming back from the dead (Jackal, Reilly, Norman, etc.) and sacrificing artistic integrity for $$. Spider-Man had a good run; 30 years about. Now the comics are a joke.

Did you notice the User Name of the guy that started the thread? :woot:

The 90's Clone Saga, mostly stuck with established continuity.
It's retcons were mostly not forced. They all came from somewhere.
OMD/BND retcons cam out of nowhere.

The end of Volume One is a true ending to Spider-Man. It's left open if you want to continue reading.
