I was geting a bit sick of looking in every thread on this messageboard to find the discussion about the upcomming event in the life of Green Arrow and Black Canary
(i have so far counted 6 threads that its discussed in.. none of those threads are about the mater)
So here we are, a thread dedicated to the events of Green Arrow #75 and beyond, Will dinah say yes?, What kind of wedding will it be?, who will be best man? ect ect..

So lets look at the facts!

* The Last page of Green Arrow #75 shows Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) proposes to Dinah Laura Lance (Black Canary)
* The Green Arrow Solo series will end with #75.
* There will be a Black Canary Miniseries following Green Arrow #75 that will deal with Dinah's answer.
* The events in Green Arrow #75 will ripple through the DCU (expect to see it in most books that month and the following months)

Now Lets look at the Rumors!
* There will be a Green Arrow/Black Canary series coming this fall

Now lets discuss!
There are a few thing i wonder about regarding the wedding, Like who will be best man? Connor? Roy? Hal?. Will it be a costume wedding? civilian wedding? both?.

anyway.. TALK!

A BC mini that deals with her answer? Sounds to me like she'll say no

I would only care if restarting the series meant Winick was moved on.

But he is sticking around so I'll just ignore all this.

Winick has said that Green Arrow #75 is his last Green Arrow story for the time being.

dont tak Newsarama on their word on stuff like that ..
they edited the artical later with this
Green Arrow will end with #75, Winick said, adding that the very last page of the issue features Oliver Queen offering an engagement ring to Black Canary. With that issue, Winick said, he’ll be off the series and character.

Newsarama Note: In clarifying his comment, Winick later told Newsarama: " I'm done, and DC is as well, with the monthly book Green Arrow. I'm not done, and DC is not done with Green Arrow. And that's all I say."
and in his Panel at Wondercon he also talked about a Shado arc in Green Arrow.. i belive that arc is in the rumord Green Arrow/Black Canary book.. (if its not than Shado shows up next month)

Again, where is the actual information that states, specifically that the Black Canary mini is about her answer.

there are several places...

One big piece of new news was unveiled by Judd Winick and Didio, Green Arrow's series will end with issue # 75, as on the final page, we will see Oliver Queen propose to the Black Canary. Winick's run on G.A. will also conclude as well.

There will be a mini-series following up on the Green Arrow/ Black Canary marriage proposal by Tony Bedard and Paulo Siquera due out in the summer.

Actually, "Green Arrow" will end at #75. Winick said, "On the very last page, Oliver Queen is on bended knee, offering up an engagement ring to Black Canary."

Because Green Arrow and Black Canary have such a long history together as part of the Justice League, the implications of Queen's proposal will play out throughout the DCU. Winick said, "While things are pending with them, you'll get commentary about them in other books." Also planned for later in the year are a "Green Arrow: Year One" and a Black Canary miniseries.

The four issue Green Arrow Year One miniseries will begin in July, by Andy Diggle and Jock; at the same time there will be a Black Canary miniseries (which Wayne was referring to earlier) by Tony Bedard and Paulo Siquera. The plan for further year ones will be that they will launch every three months, allowing for a small amount of overlap between them.

Then we have this intervju with the dude that does the mini

ill just highlight a few key thingis

Last year, fans of Bedard’s work saw him return to DC characters in several issues of JSA: Classified and a stint co-writing Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes with Mark Waid. And later this year, Bedard’s Black Canary miniseries will help to further define that character at a time when rumors seem to indicate she may be going through some major life changes.....

NRAMA: OK, we know you’re doing Countdown. What else are you doing for DC?

TB: Over the weekend, my Black Canary miniseries with Paulo Sequeira was announced. This is shaping up to be the best thing I’ve worked on in years. Paulo’s an amazing artist and I’m terribly proud of the story!

want more?

Yeah none of that is saying what you're saying specifically.

I'd rather not talk about it till it gets closer.

Also, it's Laurel not Laura astounding...and you started a thread about her. I'm ashamed for you. :(

Hahahaha, you should know by know that Kebab Gud and correct grammar are like oil and water, Twy. BTW, Kebab Gud, I agree with Darth in that none of those articles say that the mini is about her decision about the wedding. She's had other life changing events recently: she adopted a kid, left BoP and rejoined the JLA. The marriage proposal would be just one issue of many she's having to deal with. Another nitpick, I love how the title of this thread makes it a given that they'll marry.

yeah i agree with tropico she'll say no, not that i care much. but, seriously GA should be a solo book. they can start a separate book for thier team up like supes and bats, if they do get hitched.

...*gag*

I want her to say no. Launch a solo Black Canary series, and forget the Green Arrow.

Sorry Trop, it's just that he's coming off as an 'expert' in Dinahology and it's driving me up a wall.

She's MINE! MINE! :cmad:

Shes obviously going to say yes. At least by the end of the mini. Why the hell would they make this "team" book if they weren't together?

Yeah, anyone thinking she isn't going to say yes is kidding themselves. Sure, it'll be a major step backwards for Dinah, but hey...

Dude, you are completely obsessed about this. Like, crazy stalker obsessed. I don't remember a single post in the last week by you that wasn't talking about this topic. If you like them so much, maybe you should marry them.

That was a joke. Now laugh.

Going by how both books have been going lately, she should say no. There's really no reason for her to say yes. As compatible as they may be, their lives are in completely separate places right now. Considering that there are only two issues left before the proposal, I have no idea how in the fck Winick is going to believably turn the plot over to this. My guess is that won't. Turn it believably, I mean.

But going by the fact that this is Comic Book Logic and that this is obviously a reasonably hyped event wherein narrative sense trumps common sense (not that everyone has common sense all the time either), I'm betting she's going to say yes.

Something I've been wondering a while and this seems to be as good a place to ask as any: Is Dinah's identity public or not? Does anyone know?

Should be secret still. I know she doesn't wear a wig anymore but I never thought she revealed anything.

But she's out there fighting crime, with the Justice League and Justice Society on a lot of occasions...and her completely unchanged, undoctored, unhidden face is out there in full, plain view. And it's the same exact face she has in her normal life walking down the street with Babs and Helena. By definition she has no secret identity! So she's just going to marry Ollie, and he's just going to be the guy who's married to Black Canary...and people still won't put two and two together?

I just think that, if the DCU is gonna spring heavy-duty costume angst like Identity Crisis on us, then writers should at least take this stuff into consideration. It'll never happen under Winick, of course, whose stated attitude to the whole identity thing is that if he ignores it, it'll go away.

It's not a secret. In an issue of BoP, she, Babs and Helena are walking in the park and she goes and gets a hot dog. The vendor thinks she's Power Girl but at least remembers her as being a member of the JSA. I'm pretty sure it's a Green Arrow like secret identity. Everybody knows, but nobody actually thinks it's important.

There are quite a lot of DCU characters like that. Kyle has been without a mask in public so often and went out publicly with two superheroes (both without secret identities - one who was green!) both as Kyle Rayner and as Green Lantern. Yet he still "maintains" a secret identity.

I can't remember a single instance of Kyle ever being without his mask in public:confused:. I mean, not on an alien planet.

I know we've had this conversation before, but you'll have to remind me; as far as I know, Kyle and Jennie took some effort into making people think that Jade wasn't dating Green Lantern, just dating Kyle. It might not have been all the time and maybe there were slips, but it's not as if they were out there publicizing, "Look at us! Jade's making out with Green Lantern...and this guy! Get the hint, huh??" I just assumed that it was the same deal with Donna. Unless Kyle made dang certain to suck face with every single one of his girlfriends explicitly in costume and in front of a room full of civilians and/or reporters...

Until it actually becomes important, like when said characters becomes mayor or something:o. And, yeah, that scene with the hot dog was the exact scene I was thinking of.

I mean, I take a healthy dosage of belief suspension regarding these things obviously -- hell, I can accept Diana Prince, can't I? -- but it's just awkward when DC releases a highly publicized and acclaimed series like Identity Crisis where everyone is like "HIDE YOUR IDENTITIES! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HIDE THEM OR ELSE BLOODY SENSELESS RAPE" and then we still have Arsenal and Dinah who are bloody posing for pictures with their identity in full view. It's incredibly awkward if you're being told to suspend disbelief in one second and then the next you're being told to view everything with a grain of salt.

I'm sure that Kyle fought the new Sonar and Fatality when not wearing his costume - didn't Fatality attack him in Homecoming when he was just in civvies? I'm sure also Major Force has attacked him when he has not been in costume. Though it's not as if his huge green ring he wore was conspicuous. Plus he hung about with John Stewart and Guy Gardner all the time whose ID's were both public.

You might be right but I never remember they agreeing anything like that. Did Radu find out when Kyle's apartment was torn to shreds by Manhunters? I can't seem to remember. I just assumed they worked together in public so much that they were seen as a couple.

And yeah we have had this conversation before.
