It was only unwatchable by virtue of it never having been made available to watch.

"Unwatchable" is another example of a random internet nobody just saying whatever and this snowballing out of control...

You know this people could very well just making things up, right??

Well we saw what WB wanted with JL. All the cringy jokes, "itchy","big fan of justice","i didnt bring a sword" etc. So when Snyder's movie didnt have that kind of juvenile humor and the tone of a Saturday morning cartoon, they deemed it "unwatchable". Makes sense lol

They were trying to recreate the success of The Room... :o

Tuesday’s release day is just making me more frustrated with what happened. Especially when the fans have basically pieced together what Snyder’s version might’ve been and I don’t understand how it was “unwatchable.”

It wasn't. That was something that the people on Batman on Film told any and everyone who would listen. Even after people said that wasn't true and just that the movie didn't fit the time they wanted for the movie.

It wasn't unwatchable, it plainly and simply just wasnt the movie WB was looking for post BVS-gate. Those two Superman clips that were released are indicative of the tone of Snyder's JL: warmer, epic but still retaining that serious, contemplative nature of Zack's movies. The studio didn't want that, they wanted JL to be a family friendly romp like Guardians of the Galaxy and lets call a spade a spade, my fellow fans, that kind of movie just isn't in Snyder's DNA. He doesn't make those kind of films and will not make those kind of films (btw, I love Guardians of the Galaxy, so this is in no way a diss against those movies).

Snyder probably did his absolute best to get the movie the way the studio wanted it but the tone, vibe and direction wasn't what they were looking for. After BvS, the studio went into aftershock and were desperately trying to make something as harmless and fun fun FUN as possible. And thats exactly what they did and look where we are.

Zack's movie was watchable and Zack's movie was fine but it simply was not the movie they wanted.

Correct you can thank BOF for the unwatchable rumor and them spreading it like wildfire.

I really think things started to change after the Annual Time Warner board meeting, where a number of share-holders and investors questioned why WB was still hiring Zack Snyder to make JL. They wanted WB to ensure a tight control over JL's tone. Which resulted in all the micro-management WB did, the other bad decision was Tsujihara's asinine desire to cut the movie's run-time.

It just highlights what Business Executives think is not the best thing for a movie.

I think, Toby Emmerich was given the task of lightening up the tone further, and Jon Berg did the meddling with Snyder's Original vision, CEO - Kevin Tsujihara shortened the runtime.

Just to add, Whedon did poor job of reshoots with limited time and limited budget he had, Danny Elfman made a half-hearted attempt for movie's OST, the four VFX companies did awful job of CGI effects and mustache removal. While all this was happening, Geoff Johns continue to tow company line. Nice to see everyone contributed to make sure the movie was as awful as possible.

I try not to put too much blame on Whedon and the VFX companies, they were given a very short time to do their work, so it's not surprising it was poor.
As much as I cringe at Whedons poor dialogue and the mouth, I think most people would have struggled in their position.
I wouldn't have liked to have been in Whedons shoes, obviously we don't know exactly what Snyders film was going to be, but imagine you were asked to turn BVS into an under 2hr quip filled, CW-esque movie in a couple of months with limited access to the cast and crew.

I don't give Elfman as much leniency, while he also was given a very limited time to create his score and was working from storyboards, he seems to have made a deliberate decision to use as little Zimmer/JXL music as he could. There was a huge amount of work already done for him, he could re-use previous pieces and use them as a starting point for new music, which would've made his job a lot easier.
Unless someone told him not to use MOS / BVS music, which I don't think happened, he chose to make his job harder, and the film suffered as a result.
Whedon cut huge amounts off of Snyders film, but he didn't just make a new one with an Affleck cameo.

anyone blaming whedon beyond some dialogue and maybe some color grading decisions are being ridiculous

just a **** situation all round

Then he should have declined!

Color grading, editing ,cinematography, writing...etc. I dont blame him for overall story choices, VFX, tone etc, because I dont think he had much control over those.

Anyway its pointless to play the blame game now. What's done is done.

Just saw this. Probably Steppenwolf's backstory and motivation in Snyder's director's cut of the film :

I dont agree with people who say X/Y villain can never be a good villain. Any character can be a good villain with proper motivation and character development.

Remember that shot of Flash running in the first trailer? It looked great right?

And yet he's doing that exaggerated run where he flails his limbs that everyone thinks looks so goofy (myself included). I think it's the same kind of situation as the Superman suit not being designed for daytime lighting. I think the Flash's running style was designed for slow mo. It's only when you play it at normal speed that it looks weird and awkward.

I just remembered we didn't get that awesome shot from the first gif... :waa:

There are many 'fake' Joss Whedon accounts on the I'net (twitter, Facebook, Vero ?) for some reason.

I didn't think we would, given that the Aquaman trailer is set to drop on the 24th and that wouldn't make any sense from a marketing perspective. But him saying we're not likely to get it at a set date lowkey implies we are getting it at a later date does it not?

Even if Clay Enos was aware of some movement happening in the direction of getting a Snyder Cut, he wwouldn't disclose it on Vero (or twitter.)

Announcing that will be done by the people who associated with the Studio or Snyder himself.

Apparently WB itself posted a pic of Kiersey Clemons... On some social media. Not sure which. Another breadcrumb in this endless breadcrumb trail?
